Evs, following on from your post about defenders... I don't think it's even about money, it's about recognising that you do need to pay attention to your defence, rather than just worrying about having this week's "must have" attacker. You can build a decent defence without breaking the bank, but you've just got to keep an eye on it and sometimes make a boring transfer when you'd rather make an exciting one.

Before the season started when there was all the ' who rotates the best at the back' and million of spreadsheets on the go, I just thought, right.... Whose decent at back.
I went for 2 main guns (cole & zab), plus DDG in goal (ok that didn't go too well) with no other keeper and then the cheapest other 3 I could find to fill the final spot. Plan was to play cole and zab every game regardless of oppo and then see who could fill spot 3.
