Back for 2013, fully refreshed, slightly rusty and balancing the same chips on our shoulders, Granville are I make a return to the podcast studio.

The New Year presents my beleaguered co-host with a 51-point gap to bridge as I spent Christmas “ho-ho-ing” about three midfield hat-tricks, leaving Granville to roll out one mighty miffed in this week’s episode.

Elsewhere, we pick at the double Gameweek buffet, eagerly scoffing on the Chelsea canapés whilst wondering if Rafa has hidden something nasty in the vol-a-vents. We rinse that down with the latest transfers in and out in “all aboard”, preview all the weekend fixtures and carry out the latest emergency surgery on the ailing ScoutCast team.

      I prefer Jones for the cheap striker option. Also got my eye on Dzeko if you downgraded Baines.

      I don't feel to confident in the Reading or Southampton defences. Bunn & Wilson rather than Federici & Shaw.

          Pog is indeed freakishly cheap. Jones is still very cheap though, and just cause he's benched doesn't mean he won't have to plat. Stoke's fixtures are strong.

          Ruddy is definitely out for another couple of months.

    Is Pepin still about?

    Just had a look at the Baines in Bale out option you were proposing earlier... I'm starting to like it A LOT... I just have this feeling I can live without Bale for 2 weeks... in the same breath I can cover So'ton with Lambert and give Baines a couple of games to shine... if it doesn't work I'll swap them around after United, which is what I'd probably do anyway unless Bale gets injured or something...

      Great minds 😀 I posted s 'differentials squad' yesterday with exactly that back 5. OK Demel and Davies are only differentials in FPL as opposed to FFS, but they made the budget work...

      I think you are correct to avoid the hit for a Chelsea defender when, in your case, would require another hit to fix...

    Well, well. According to L'Equipe this morning, Emmanuel Adebayor has told Togo coach Didier Six that he won't take part in the African Cup of Nations after all, despite being on the list of players.

    The problem is that the squad list submitted by Six is different from the one put forward by Togo's football association. So is this brinkmanship by Adebayor to get some clarity, or has he genuinely pulled out?

            True dat. Am likely to use it this week TBH. I don't like 8pt hits and my team won't be in that much of a mess after the DDGW that I'd need an 8pt hit to fix. This will be the most changes I'd need to make before a GW.

              I'd improve that defense, just doesn't look good with Jones and O'Brien in there, and will look to get a Chelsea defender in. The front 8 look okay, though I have Mata instead of bale.

        Harte should come in for me I think, don't have any cash so Davies is out of it. I'm also looking to get Lambert in for Dzeko, but Dzeko's value at 7.4 with Aguero out is looking to good to ignore somehow.

      Many people have ditched and some are even considering benching him. If you have him, you hold for Norwich. If you don't have him, like me, he's too expensive I think now....especially for one 'easy' match in 4 or 5.

      He is fixture proof though I suppose.

      I actually really like mate. Great midfield, plenty of DGW coverage for both weeks, and you keep Suarez. I would somehow consider playing him this week though, since United will concede and he will ultimately be a part of any goal LFC do score. Should be high scoring match.

    The idea that Everton are bad defensively is a myth. They've lost 3 games all season. That doesn't sound like a team that's bad defensively to me.

    They've only conceded more than 1 goal in ONE game in the last 9 league games (against Chelsea)

    Most teams would be proud of that record.

    So like I said...complete myth.
