The ScoutCast – Episode Ninety Four – Resumption

Back for 2013, fully refreshed, slightly rusty and balancing the same chips on our shoulders, Granville are I make a return to the podcast studio.

The New Year presents my beleaguered co-host with a 51-point gap to bridge as I spent Christmas “ho-ho-ing” about three midfield hat-tricks, leaving Granville to roll out one mighty miffed in this week’s episode.

Elsewhere, we pick at the double Gameweek buffet, eagerly scoffing on the Chelsea canapés whilst wondering if Rafa has hidden something nasty in the vol-a-vents. We rinse that down with the latest transfers in and out in “all aboard”, preview all the weekend fixtures and carry out the latest emergency surgery on the ailing ScoutCast team.

What do people think of a Bego/Sørensen combo?
Stoke with Sørensen still less likely to concede than other keepers worth less than his price.

  I like the thinking outside of the box! For me though, it's too expensive for a GK you can't rotate. Rather get Fed, or even a dead 3.9. It's pretty unlikely that Bego will be injured and you'll need Sørensen.

    I got Bego at 4.6, so it's still just 8.9 in total expenses, at least for me it is.
    Going on the season so far, there's not many matches where you actually don't want to play Bego.
    I'm gonna let the thought mature for the GW24 WC.

  I think it would be a good idea if Sorensen was 4.1 ish, so the saving on another GK could be invested elsewhere. But as Federici, Bunn are nailed on (currently) and at the same price (or cheaper) this seems to be a better option. Worst case scenario is Stoke could miss a week due to weather, cup matches and there's no back-up.

    Hard to know how reliable it is but even the suggestion is depressing.
    
    Also looks like Remy is now a no go for us - we may end this transfer window having lost our main striker and defensive rock, replacing neither. Classic Newcastle.

        We basically have two strikers at the club - Cisse and Ameobi. That's simply not enough and if Coloccini left we would have two centre backs - Taylor (not yet fit) and Williamson. That's a staggering lack of depth.

        I agree, signing another striker is imperative. An injury to Cisse would be disastrous. I think you'll have enough...but it'll be a bumpy ride.

  In fairness that for me is less of a reason to bring Ba in.
  
  DIdn't realise it was October 2011 when he scored the hatrick against them. Stoke beginning of last season with Europa, were a completely different defensive unit due to constant rotation with GK's and Def's.
  
  I wouldn't expect Chelsea as a team to score 3, think that's being over optimistic.

      There are no 10/10 teams IMHO. The "best" team changes each week, too many external factors play in. You look good to go for the coming weeks.

  You can do a lot better than Guthrie for your cheap attacker, which might mean a bit of a rejig of your front 8.
  
  And likewise Mariappa and Harte. Are you a Royals fan or something?

Am on WC and have RVP, Berba and Lambert as my front three but still have the following players on my forward watchlist; Fletcher, Podolski, Ruiz, Sturridge and Pappis Cisse. The forward options for the second half of the season are immense.

  I play Bego because i don't own Jussi. and also Bego plays at home and has better chance to make a lot saves and blocks. But if you want play to get Clean sheet Jussi is better option.

  Leave out Mata or Fellaini, in my opinion both will see some regression. I'd stick with Fellaini if he doesn't get sold, he's amazing value at his price and allows you to play around a bit more with strikers and defence.
