As we close on a century of episodes it was time to freshen things up and bring new voices to accompany my drone and that of grumpy Granville. In this weeks’ episode, we draft in both “Professor” Chris Atkinson and his “Rate My Team” computer, plus long-time community member and contributor, Jonty, for a new ScoutCast regular.

Don’t worry, the usual format remains intact although, having recorded this just minutes after last night’s whistles, Granville escapes the usual mini-league grilling. Not surprisingly, there’s plenty of “Granny’s miffed” to endure, plus “All Aboard” and the weekend preview. That’s’ rounded off by the “Full Jonty” a brand new feature that will bring you, the community, into our weekly ramblings.

      Its interesting that those teams with the most blocks also have the worst defense. I guess blocked shots should really represent a bad defense?

        I suppose it could indicate two things.

        1) Terrible defence (and probably midfield) so the ball ends up in the box a lot.

        2) Good defenders (probably bad midfield) so the ball gets in the box, but the defenders deal with it.

          I think you're onto something. But nevertheless the defenders see a lot more action than they should and inevitably they concede (or should concede in the case of sunderland) al lot of goals.

        I think yes, too many blocked shots probably mean that the team defends too deep, or either the holding midfielders aren't doing their job well.

      I have both and also need to play one of them. Currently on Harte because I am a bit worried that Demel will be subbed off on 59mins.

    News Bite:

    An interesting bit of news emerging from the shores of France. We are hearing that after Nice manager Mr.Holmes handed Barcelona manager TW a real drubbing, the owners of Nice were so delighted with manager Sherlock Holmes that that made him an offer he could not refuse. Some sort of contract extension has been agreed upon with Nice looking to have Sherlock as their manager for the 2013-2014 season as well. Rumours suggest that deal involves the managers promising Jessica Lawrence as the new club physio. Another rumour coming out from the shores of France is that their high profile January signing, Olivier Giroud will now be made club captain.
