Scout Notes

The Stock Check – Monday

Dimitar Berbatov’s quality is ultimately too much for visiting QPR, as the Bulgarian’s early strikes prove decisive, despite a strong second-half showing from Harry Redknapp’s seemingly doomed side. Here’s the Stock Check on a Monday night that delivered on its promise…

On the Up

Dimitar Berbatov
A third brace of the season took Berbatov to five goals in his last four matches as the Bulgarian stuck to the script and lived up to pre-match expectations. There were instant dividends for Berbatov’s new owners, then, and with a double Gameweek to come, his stock will surely continue to rise at pace.

Mark Schwarzer
A third penalty save of the season denied QPR a point and saw the Aussie stopper return seven Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points for his owners, despite failing to keep the clean sheet. Schwarzer is top rated for form in the FPL, averaging 6.5 points per game over the last six matches.

Adel Taarabt
With Redknapp going all out for the points, Taarabt came back into the lineup to lend his creative spark and goal threat. For once, the Moroccan delivered, firing QPR back into the match with a late first half goal, before winning the spot-kick which Remy squandered. With three points essential for QPR, surely Taarabt will retain his starting role for matches to come.

Loic Remy
Brought in from the flank for the second half, the Frenchman wasted his spot kick, only to surge through and make amends with a fine finish to hand the R’s a lifeline. It’s three strikes in the last four starts for Remy who continues to look the most likely to fetch the goals that QPR so badly need over the remaining seven matches.

Going Down

The QPR Defence
While Chris Samba was culpable for Fulham’s opening two goals in a disastrous first half, it was skipper Clint Hill that made way at half-time, presumably to protect him having earned a booking and escaped a potential sending off. In Gameweek 7, under Mark Hughes, Hill was subbed at half-time at West Brom – he remained out of the side until Gameweek 13. It remains to be seen if Hill will be restored to the side for the visit of Wigan – in truth, Redknapp is likely to be more displeased with the showing from Samba.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Owning Michu and Bale is giving me a headache... They are my only dgw36 players so I am reluctant to get rid, but benching both means Townsend to Fellaini giving me a massive benching problem 34 onwards, leaving me with

    Fellaini, Walcott, Cazorla, Bale, Michu
    Aguero, Berby, Suarez

Would you do this or swop Michu for Fellaini leaving me with only one dgw36 player? 😕

    Thanks

I'd get rid of Michu for now. I can't see him getting too many points to justify keeping him through all them weeks just so you've still got him for 1 double.

I haven't really thought about DGW36 yet but I'd go Michu -> Fellaini anyway.

Not sure I even want any SWA, to be honest.

His DGW fixtures at the end don't look great though.

I think... hmm. If you have the team value for it, I think I'd to Townsend to Fellaini. Not too many weeks left to be headached by benching problems, and FTs are precious.

I'm doing Michu>Fellaini GW33, then buying back for GW34 in a 3-5-2. So Schneiderlin will have to go. Shame, as he's served me well. But I fancy big Afro points in the run-in and don't want to do GW36 Michu-less!

Good morning guys! Been on Easter holiday, so I haven't been online at all the last 2 weeks. Did Walcott & Cisse for Caz (c) and Giroud for a free before the deadline, went alright.

How's everything hanging here? Did I miss anything major the last 2 weeks?

I got burned by a horrible (read: non-existing) bench by Mata and Sturridge, so it will be hard to figure out what FT to do this GW. I got a bench of Fed Harte Cuellar Kebe, neither of which are playing.

True, I'm in pretty bad shape for the DGW. All the DGW teams have bad fixtures this GW though, maybe I'll save if it looks like I can field a decent 11.

That's who I was thinking. It would be for a four point hit but the alternative is keeping Harte who I don't think is playing now? Trying to set up for the double gameweek 33 and I will already have Davies, Michu and Bale not playing so I really want to try to get eleven players out if I can.

I'm going to get in De Gea and Cazorla for Mignolet and Mata. If I also did Walcott to Fellaini I would then have 5.8 to spend on a replacement for Harte. It does mean an eight point hit over the next two weeks then.

Players worth having for gw33 and keeping thereafter.

      Chelsea - Defender, Hazard/Mata
      Liverpool - Suarez
Man City - Zabaleta (Tevez/Aguero if Suarez suspended)
      Newcastle - Sissoko

I can have a team with Walcott, CAz, RVP, Rooney, Fellaini (plus demel, Jaask and Reither) for just one hit...

..BUT...it means ditching Suarez, Bale and Michu. Suarez is the real problem as he's away to Reading and could do very well indeed. Really going to need another yellow from Suarez this weekend to make my decision easier.

Seriously don't bother with Demel, Jaask and probably even Reither. Bale can go for one blank week but Suarez is exactly the sort of player you'll wish you had kept. Unless of course he is suspended...

I'm going cold on the ManU players. RVP & Rooney is unaffordable, their midfield is useless from a fantasy perspective, ditto their defence and their fixtures kinda put me off De Gea.

Does no one have any love for Giroud? He's pretty damn cheap compared to Walcott and Caz.

Also wondering if a fruity feeling towards Coutinho might be a good idea.

      Arsenal - Wally & Cazorla
Everton - None as yet. Fellaini probably. Maybe Baines.
Fulham - None as yet. Maybe Berbs but that depends on Sturridge
Man Utd - RVP. Undecided about the rest.
      West Ham - Probably none.

    Need some help guys.

Current team. 1 ft 0.6m bank

    Bego Bunn
    Jenkinson Wilson Pearce Zaba GJ
    Bale Santi Wally Michu Sissoko
    RVP Sturridge Remy

Took a gamble on Jenkinson last week for Bramble - didnt really pay off but couldve had Brambles minus.

Want Fellaini back for sure for GW33. Considering Baines, Berba, DDG so that would be a -8 but I'd realistically need to do a -12 and get rid of Sissoko for Coleman to afford it.

Any ideas? Im 3 points behind in my ML but 30 ahead of 3rd and Im the only guy with a WC. Thinking of WC for Spurs/Chelsea/City cover later?

I agree nows the time to hokey cokey the heavy hitters. Wish I'd done it with Mata to Caz this week.

Bale or Mata out for Caz in gwk 33 for example has a huge reward potential. And still enough time to get Bale or Mata or both back in.

I also think its worth spending a hit even two when the doubles are so inviting.

I got the same dilemma. Thinking next GW, if Sturridge's work rate is the problem he looks more likely to start in the home games. It's a gamble though, but I might save FT this GW. None of the DGWers have very inviting fixtures this GW.

I was just the same Keith.

I've made the transfer. A bit of a knee jerk, but also wouldn't be able to make my other planned transfers when Berba goes up in price.

Otherwise I'd wait. Liverpool v West Ham looks much better than Fulham v Newcastle.

Can't decide between Sturridge or Benteke to go for Berbatov. (Was always bringing him in, so not a kneejerk).

If I do Sturridge > Berbs though it allows enough for Sissoko to Fellaini (even if his price doesn't fall).

Should this be the deciding factor?

Yeah that's in the Benteke list for me.

Sturridge has 2 good fixtures if he plays, but that "if" has gone from can he shake off a knock, to rotation risk.

Think my problem is I know what he'll do if he plays, so I'm playing scared of scores he might get. Time to bin him though I think.

Might be worth sneaking in a cheap West Ham defender if you've got a wildcard, as they've got a couple of decent-ish home games coming up afterwards, but I guess it depends if you've got a solid 3 def for the DGW anyway already.

Right DGW chat. I'm in a quandry.

I currently have DDG RVP JEvans Walcott Monreal. I have 0.5m in the bank.

I don't have enough money to do the transfers below unless I take Suarez out.

    Mata --> A) Gervinho B) Santi
    Sissoko --> Fellaini
    A) Suarez --> Berba B) Benteke --> Berba

So basically if I want Santi, Fella and Berba I have to take Suarez out.

If Suarez stays in I have to get gervinho.

    Thoughts?

Nice point scoring at home so far this season (albeit small sample size) + 2 nice home games to come.
