Versus – Ramsey and Barkley

With five weeks of the season now behind us, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and Everton’s Ross Barkley have been two of the biggest success stories thus far. Racking up 32 points and 25 points respectively in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, the duo’s displays, allied with their mid-price appeal, continues to tempt huge numbers of new owners.

Drafted in by over 510,000 managers last week, Ramsey has already picked up over 144,000 transfers in since Saturday’s deadline and with 31% ownership, is now the most popular midfielder in the game. Barkley is not far behind – now residing in 27% of teams, the Toffees youngster is third in terms of midfield ownership, with only City’s Yaya Toure separating the pair.

With Fantasy managers looking for ways to free up cash to acquire the returning Luis Suarez, we take a look at the pair’s performances over the first five Gameweeks so far to ascertain just what sort of an impact they’ve been making on the field of play:

there's talk that pochettino will drop either osvaldo or lambert this week to bring in a proper playmaker now that they've gone 5 games without a goal in open play.

there's not really i just want to make you both nervous

I was at anfield last week and I was impressed by Osvaldo, his touch, hold up, control and distribution was excellent, the lad never put a foot wrong. Won't be long before he is banging them in, terrible pony tail though!! YNWA

Walcott to Ramsey this week and Sturridge to Suarez next week, think I'll save the hit and see Suarez really get warm before he gets in.

And there is perhaps still some points left for Sturridge this week before the Vampire starts sucking them all out 😉

4-point hit already taken. Team is:

    Mignolet
    Zabaleta - Mertesacker - Clyne
    Michu - Lampard - Barkley - Kim
    Sturridge - Giroud - Rooney

    Marshall - Walcott - Murner - Ward

    What do I do:

    A. use WC to sort out the whole team
    B. take another hit - probably Walcott --> Eriksen, as I can't afford Ozil
    C. play Kim and sell Walcott before GW7 for a lower value

i'm ABY (anyone but yaya). i don't particularly rate paulinho as he's pretty deep but his athelticism does trump that somewhat, for his price he seems fine. prefer eriksen now and lamela and chadli soon but they cost more

Dont understand why everyone is bringing Michu in, especially to replace Wally for a couple weeks. Swansea have Arsenal at home then away to Saints who have been solid at the back. Surely there are better options no?

    Draft #3

    Boruc • Myhill
    Nasty • Wilson • Rosenier • Vidic • Coleman
    Brady • Michu • Miralas • Erikson • Ramsey
    Giroud • Suarez • Rooney

    I think thats like a 8.5 / 10...possible debates:
    - Suarez vs Sturridge
    - Miralas vs HBA...or downgrade to Barkley and upgrade coleman >> baines

    Sturridge - Giroud - Rooney(C)

Was looking at a few stats between coleman and Baines (for those on a WC)

Baines: Way more chances created, higher propensity for bonus points, pens & free kicks, 0 goal attempts in the box

Coleman: More touches in the box, more goal attempts in the box

So assuming everton keep 15 cleanies (fair assumption i think) from remaining 33 games
    Baines = 15*7.5 (with baps) + 23 (2) = 158.5
    Coleman = 15*6 (0 baps) + 23 (2) = 136

This obviously excludes attacking points...did a quick calc and in order for them similar "value", baines would need to score 34 more attacking points then coleman i.e. 5 goals + 1 assist

    The question is, will he?

any chance of a upvote? 😉

hi all, first time on the site..is there any logic/rationale in playing both Ozil and Ramsey in the same midfield? my thought process was that at any point I could swap out Ozil for someone a bit cheaper to solidify elsewhere, but they're both guaranteed starters and good for points probably every gameweek..here's my squad atm:

      Mignolet
      Coleman Clyne Zabaleta
      Oscar Ozil Ramsey Barkley
      Suarez Rooney Giroud

      Bench: Lewis, Brady, Wilson, Whittaker
