Versus – Ramsey and Barkley

With five weeks of the season now behind us, Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey and Everton’s Ross Barkley have been two of the biggest success stories thus far. Racking up 32 points and 25 points respectively in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, the duo’s displays, allied with their mid-price appeal, continues to tempt huge numbers of new owners.

Drafted in by over 510,000 managers last week, Ramsey has already picked up over 144,000 transfers in since Saturday’s deadline and with 31% ownership, is now the most popular midfielder in the game. Barkley is not far behind – now residing in 27% of teams, the Toffees youngster is third in terms of midfield ownership, with only City’s Yaya Toure separating the pair.

With Fantasy managers looking for ways to free up cash to acquire the returning Luis Suarez, we take a look at the pair’s performances over the first five Gameweeks so far to ascertain just what sort of an impact they’ve been making on the field of play:

Soldado out for Sturridge for a -4?

No other Liverpool players, have Eriksen in midfield.

RVP and Walcott have to go.

This really screws up my plans to wildcard in Gw8 now really, doesn't it. I may as well wildcard now and just sort my whole team out in one go, no?

I'm doing a vote to see whether I should WC or not. I currently have Brayford,Wally,RvP,Williams (CPL) and Chester.
    A) WC
    B) RvP and Walcott--->Rooney and Ozil.

Got 1 reply on this so far so I would highly appreciate any opinions regarding this.

We do have a lot of the same players.

Useless buggers most of them too.

Wish I'd have known this on Saturday night as could have wildcarded and avoided price rises.

Now I have to either suck it and see with RVP or shift his expensive ass out.

I probably wouldn't. Not unless you want Rooney and Ozil longterm. I always feel a wildcard should be used to shape your squad for the next 5-10 gameweeks, at least.

    ============================

    Guys...

I see that not many teams have Lukaku in them when people have been RMTing.

He's 7.4M...surely a bargain???? Or is my judgment poor...

You don't get much better bang per buck in this game and now looks to be first choice I think...but you all might know something I don't.

Anyone else got him or thinking of putting him in?

Moyes is being vague (no change there, then) - "I don't think he will play on Wednesday, but I think there's an outside chance for Saturday." was the direct quote. I'd say if he was only an outside chance to play at the weekend it's a pretty safe bet that he wouldn't be playing tomorrow.

      About 60% certainty.
Chiriches is probably a better player.
Kaboul is quicker and more suited to the system.
Dawson at fault for the only goal Spurs have conceded so far.

Need some guidance please from FPL experts, Current Mid on a WC (to take advantage of price rises)

    - Brady (keeping him for next two gw's and he is rising tonight so no point removing him)
    - Yaya (will rise once more i reckon so should be able to profit n then sell)
    - ramsey (deciding whether to keep him, he has risen 0.1m for me so far)
    - barkely (risen once for me, might rise again)
    - ben arfa (bought him at 7...can sell him if i dont want him long term??)

Mids rising tonight: Ozil (dont want LT but might get 2 rises from him?), Michu (for Long term), Oscar (Not sure if i want him long term)

    Which is the best strat?

I've gone for Ozil and Michu - but I'm starting to waver and consider Michu>Oscar.

I had the same problem and had to dump Yaya or risk losing 0.1 on Michu.

Brady keep until he rises the 0.3
Yaya will rise again, so then profit and sell
Ramsey has ended his rises for this week, so now you have to choose whether to keep him in your team
Barkley will rise again, keep until then, after that decide
Ben Arfa won't rise this week, choose whether to keep or lose him

I'd hold for Theo moves, Barkley is a god sub this week if Theo doesnt play.

People seem much more forgiving about -8 hits this week, when usually people gasp and perish the thought. Also early transfers seem to be getting a pass.

So, consensus is that this is/was an unusually injurious weekend that allows for exceptional measures?

I'm at a -4, saving the possibility of another hit if bad things happen midweek, but hoping not to do it.

Yes. I think so. Everyone has either Bntke, Wally and RVP. Under very unusual circumstances people are having to lose at least one of these.

I have Hernandez and Chester still injured, but I'm thinking/oping Pablo will recover soon and a hit on a 4.0 defender just seems foolish.

To clarify, I had Walcott, which would have def been a higher priority and which partially led to the -4. I had shaw and he was only "partially" injured, but he just seems too injury prone when I just want a low maintenance cat to rotate with Reid.

I was thinking Baines though I don't have the guts to captain a defender, even if it's Bainsey. Oh, and I have Roon at home to WBA also...

I just brought him in but I'd be wary of this. I know Kone is possibly out and Jelavic is woefully off-form, but it's still too early to risk the armband on Lukaku IMO. We got him because of his price but it's still a punt.

That team looks pretty good to me.

      - Play 4-4-2 with Delph

      or

      - Walcott to Michu
      - Benteke to Rooney or Suarez

Can anyone suggest me a player to replace Walcott with?
I'm upgrading Benteke to Rooney and I will have left 8.1M?
Alternatively, I could upgrade Benteke to Aguero/Suarez and I will be left with 7.7M

        Can't buy Oscar 8.6
Can't buy Michu since I already have him
Can't buy Eriksen when he is 8.2

I could consider it but since I have 2 FT's
Those 2 moves would be first, and then Baines move would be for a hit

              Agreed, then I can afford
              Baines, Brady and Rooney
Or save a little and get Vertonghen, Brady and Rooney
But not a big fan of having three cheap midfielders
              I would prefer 2 Pricy Mids, 1 Medium-Priced Mid and 2 Cheaps
