Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope Returns

This evening we bring back the Scout’s Suspension Tightrope widget, which is now available in your right sidebars under the Watchlist rankings.

For those of you less familiar with these pages, the tightrope offers a window into the more nefarious antics of the Premier League and the impact these indiscretions may have upon our Fantasy form. Cards are counted up from League Cup, FA cup and Premier League matches and the table is updated after each Gameweek – we’ll aim to share the Fantasy implications of the latest yellows and reds dished out by referees as we go.

We’ll bring you news of all the suspensions to blight our game, along with a regular update of the yellow card totals of the most heinous perpetrators as they approach the precipice of a ban and mount the ‘Suspension Tightrope’.

At present, there is just one player currently teetering on the brink of a one-match ban. Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini is the man in question, after picking up his fourth caution of the season in the Gunners’ draw against West Brom on Sunday afternoon – the Frenchman has now been booked in four of his five league appearances since returning to the Emirates this summer.

Given Flamini’s propensity for picking up yellows, he looks highly likely to be facing suspension soon – essentially, he has to avoid incurring the referee’s wrath up to and including December 31, when the card quota is then extended to 10.

Plenty of others currently sit on three yellows, with just a couple more cautions set to trigger a ban. Amongst the most notable in Fantasy terms, the list includes Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, who is owned by 30% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, whilst cut-price midfielder Ross Barkley and Ravel Morrison are also in the mix, along with the likes of Craig Gardner, Jon Walters and Marouane Chamakh.

Fernando Torres and Lucas are now both available after each served a one-match suspension in the previous Gameweek. Torres is still sidelined with a knee injury, though, while his former Liverpool team-mate is expected to return to the fold as Brendan Rodgers takes his team to Tyneside to face Newcastle next time around.

Since everything is so slow right now thought i should get a RMT done 🙂

    Migs, Boruc
    Ferdinand, Coleman, Dawson, Burner, Wilson
    Morrison, Barkley, Michu, Oscar, Ozil
    Rooney, Lukaku, Suarez

    Bank: 0.2m

    Got 2 FTs
Can't decide what to do now. I want to keep ferdinand and rooney for atleast a week more. If Rooney gets close to falling in price then thinking of doing Rooney > Benteke if fit or Giroud/Studge

Other concern is dawson but can't see him getting dropped after just one bad game

Nice team, I'd probably keep Rooney for now. Ditch Ferdinand for Williams or something

Thinking about getting Kolarov or Nasty in. City have a decent set of fixtures after Chelsea and they can keep a clean sheet at chelsea too

I'm thinking the same. Have Rooney and Vidic. Good fixtures but uneasy with uniteds stuttering.

I have Rooney and Vidic too, not convinced Southampton will be anywhere near a comfortable victory though.

Rooney -> Lukaku is starting to tempt me

I don't reckon it'll be all that comfortable. Southampton are a strong side. I already have Lukaku though. I would definitely bring him in. Great striker price and guaranteed price riser.

Atleast Vidic is a definite starter. Are you holding on to them for two more gameweeks?

I reckon so.Probably due to Tekkers having two tough games up next and just back. Price swings could change my opinion though. Tempted to get Vidic out for Terry too.

U mean u want to wait and see how ferdinand does against Southampton.... that shouldn't be a CS match.

since u have 2 FTs u can change wilson if u want

I fancy aguero over Rooney and Walcott over ozil. Ferdinand is also a weak choice imo. Otherwise it looks sexy.

I actually think that although you have some minor question makrs over your team, you don't need to make a tranny.

I would maybe use a transfer to sell Ferdinand, who I think is now a very questionable pick.

I don't know where to start with this bunch.

Not sure whether keep sticking to my guns and just make on change with my FT or do something more drastic.

    Mig 4m

Kosc, Zab, Walker, Shaw (M Turner)

    Michu Paulinho Mirallas (Brady) (Kim)

    Soldado Studge Lambert

Soldado is probably my priority, although Wally returning would be great news. Any thoughts/ideas?

Wally will come in for sure sooner rather than later but I will wait until he's 100% fit before dumping Mirallas.

        Cheers

If it was my team i would be looking at taking out Kos, Murner, Kim, Soldado and Lambert and also get a playing 2nd choice keeper.
And i personally don't fancy Paulinho and we are not sure yet on when Brady will be back
You might miss out on a lot of team value.
I feel a wildcard is needed to sort it out for long term

Na, waste of a WC IMO, since most of those you mentioned still look good for playing time and have potential (ok, maybe not Kim!).

If I sold Murner, it would be someone to rotate with Shaw, but it seems like a waste of a transfer right now.

        Thanks anyway!

Keep Soldado for the Villa game, one last chance, could be a nice differential as well since most are selling him.

Think about, he got dropped to the bench for the first time, surely he'll want to prove himself to AVB against Villa?

Which would then allow you to do Mirallad/Brady to Wally?

Nice thinking. I also considered it, but I will see where I am after international injuries and if Wally is fit.

WC could work wonders but if you've kept it this long you might as well keep going. SOldado to Lukaku and Paulinho/Mirallas to Walcott as Atherroy suggests.

Paulinho stays though as he is a great pick IMO and I brought him in last week

Agreed re Paulino, I had him since the start, and had a brain fry hammer drunk moment a couple of weeks ago and got rid of him. Main regret of the season.

Would never play a WC on an international break, players always seem to change form during them, most I see who played on gw3 have lived to regret...mahaha

Zab, Mirrallas & Solado all look questionable picks

Terry, Walcott(when fit) & Lukaku/Benteke would all make significant upgrades to your team moving forward.

    Two questions regarding GW8:
Should I play Mignolet or Boruc? I have them both.
Also, best captain choice, Sturridge, Giroud or Lukaku?

    Thanks!

Form would suggest Boruc. Though you'd have to assume United will score at home right? I mean how bad are they?

Flip a coin for captain. I may go with a cheeky Michu!

If all the players managed to recover for next gwk I'd be really tempted to wildcard to this team:

    Boruc (4m)
    Terry, Zabaleta, Johnson, (Fonte, Burner)
    Michu, Walcott, Oscar, Toure (Brady)
    Sturridge, Lukaku, Benteke

    0.0m left in the bank

Surely there must be some points in that team!
