The Suspension Tightrope Returns

This evening we bring back the Scout’s Suspension Tightrope widget, which is now available in your right sidebars under the Watchlist rankings.

For those of you less familiar with these pages, the tightrope offers a window into the more nefarious antics of the Premier League and the impact these indiscretions may have upon our Fantasy form. Cards are counted up from League Cup, FA cup and Premier League matches and the table is updated after each Gameweek – we’ll aim to share the Fantasy implications of the latest yellows and reds dished out by referees as we go.

We’ll bring you news of all the suspensions to blight our game, along with a regular update of the yellow card totals of the most heinous perpetrators as they approach the precipice of a ban and mount the ‘Suspension Tightrope’.

At present, there is just one player currently teetering on the brink of a one-match ban. Arsenal’s Mathieu Flamini is the man in question, after picking up his fourth caution of the season in the Gunners’ draw against West Brom on Sunday afternoon – the Frenchman has now been booked in four of his five league appearances since returning to the Emirates this summer.

Given Flamini’s propensity for picking up yellows, he looks highly likely to be facing suspension soon – essentially, he has to avoid incurring the referee’s wrath up to and including December 31, when the card quota is then extended to 10.

Plenty of others currently sit on three yellows, with just a couple more cautions set to trigger a ban. Amongst the most notable in Fantasy terms, the list includes Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic, who is owned by 30% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers, whilst cut-price midfielder Ross Barkley and Ravel Morrison are also in the mix, along with the likes of Craig Gardner, Jon Walters and Marouane Chamakh.

Fernando Torres and Lucas are now both available after each served a one-match suspension in the previous Gameweek. Torres is still sidelined with a knee injury, though, while his former Liverpool team-mate is expected to return to the fold as Brendan Rodgers takes his team to Tyneside to face Newcastle next time around.

        It was German colleagues who first showed the 'Mayday' clip to me. They loved it.
        
        Contrary to British belief, the Fawlty Towers "Don't mention the war" sketch was shown in both West and East Germany, and was by far the most popular one in the series. This was because the Germans, as Cleese intended, saw that the joke was on Fawlty and not them - and many Germans had had similar experiences when they'd visited England.
        
        When the German channel RTL tried to remake Fawlty Towers in the 1990s, they omitted the episode, not because it was 'offensive', but because Germany doesn't have an equivalent country that they make offensive jokes about. Not even The Netherlands.

Ozil vs Walcott stats over the last 4 years (club and international level including international friendlies)

Ozil 52 Goals 134 Assists in 247 games

Walcott 50 Goals 47 Assists in 185 games.

Around half of Walcott's stats were last year (his only really good year).

I rest my case.

  Ozil played for Real Madrid in La liga, it is not that hard scoring and assisting for them especially with the protection technical players get over there from the refs. And he was passing to Ronaldo, Benzema, Higuain, not to Ramsay, Giroud and Walcott

    I don't see 1.5 as a big price difference. Regarding the EPl vs la liga comparison, its very hard to shine in the presence of Ronaldo the focal point of the team. In Arsenal,everything will pass through Ozil. He will definitely score more goals with Ronaldo out of the picture (he scores a lot more with national team and that proves my point). Plus as I pointed out, Walcott had only 1 really good season goal scoring wise which is last season. Other than that he doesn't exceed the 12-15 mark which is what Ozil gets as well

  I think you have reached the right conclusion. Hull will struggle away from home more often than not. Lukaku's success will come down to how the Everton attack respond as a whole more than the Hull defence I feel.

Anyone think a FFS app would be good?

Articles (in mobile friendly format)
Scout picks on an individual tab
Fixtures ticker on a tab
Tightrope on a tab

Shouldn't be too difficult to put together, I am sure an app developer exists in the community.

      You'd notice significant improvements on a mobile optimised site - less scrolling around the page for things etc, and more touch friendly icons (I find hitting notify me of replies very hard)
