The ScoutCast – Episode 127 – Logic

Granville calls it a logic-defying season and this 300k ranked Fantasy manager isn’t going to argue with him. There’s plenty to tussle about in this week’s ScoutCast, however, as we lock virtual horns over Rooney vs van Persie, Baines vs Coleman and Aguero vs his hamstring.

In and around the regulars, it’s the incoming double Gameweeks that occupy our thoughts once more, with the community questions quizzing us on United’s Gameweek 31 potential, the Chelsea dilemma and the best player we’ve witnessed in the flesh. Granville puts forward a true talent: a three time FIFA World Player of the Year, no less. I nominated a floppy haired Geordie with a top 40 single. Truly logic-defying.

Share in Granville’s Zizou moment via this link or stare into my Diamond Lights via the player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Have Suarez, Lukaku, Aguero at the moment.. Looking like I'll need to get rid of Aguero for another -4 but really don't want to go the boring route of Sturridge... Going to take a punt on a Carroll, Remy, Jelavic/Long I think.

    Just listened to the scoutcast

Anyone share Granny's utter disdain for azpilicueta? he may not goals/assists but can get bps (great tackler) and is at least .5 cheaper than the next cfc defender. good placeholder while arsenal have tough fix imo. I'm happy with my azpi/ivan combo.

    anyone?

RP for anyone who's looking at Rooney v Lukaku

    Rooney -6.3 PPG
    +Better form
    +Better long term fixtures
+Playing for a Europa league spot, team still motivated
-Still in CL, with a game three days after LIV and three days before whm which could affect his performances.
-Could be played further down the field if Moyes gets giddy again
-Slight rotation risk/less likely to complete a full 90 minutes
    -2 yellows from a ban

    Lukaku -5 PPG
    +Better Price
    +No other competitions
+Slightly better immediate fixtures (see history below)
+In a team with no injuries, probably good morale
    +Has an unscheduled fixture
    +Negligible rotation risk
-In a team that scores less (no more than 2 in PL since december)

Each player’s history against their next three opponents (Apps-Goals-Assists):

    Rooney*:
    LIV 21-7-4
    whm 15-9-4
    MCI 24-11-1
*Most of these results were recorded under Fergie

    Lukaku:
    CAR --
    SWA 4-2-0
    new 3-3-2

I was originally thinking Lukaku and that’s where my money will stay.
Wayne’s record against the next three means little if Utd aren’t playing as well this season. The Olympiakos Liverpool and City games also make this an awkward time to invest in him. Ade/Eto’o offer decent exit strategies from Lukaku after the Fulham game.

Looking at the comparison tool I can't work out much because of Lukaku's injury and it taking Rooney a few games to get back into it after his last lay off, but something in there could perhaps be more definitive.

your comment 'Most of these results were recorded under Fergie' makes this analysis pretty much pointless, we are so unreliable with Moyes around. I see what you're trying to do but i don't even trust the team i support.

I see what you mean, it was merely to check for any bogey fixtures or 'Suarez meets Norwich' type fixtures. Take what you want from it but for me that means he has a decent chance of scoring in any of them, though under Moyes it does seem less likely.
I thought Utd have been looking slightly better of late, if RVP sorts himself out they could have a decent finish to the season.

8 yellows for Rooney, a blank in GW34, Olympiakos and Man City shortly, are all reasons to rationalize going for Lukaku ahead of him. The extra cash also allows to build a better midfield.

Rooney still the best player and has to justify his massive paycheck every week.

Good point, I forgot the blank, though if not rescheduled in the same week that does mean a DGW, which evens it out.

It's mad he gets 1.5x Suarez's salary eh.

Pool's defense is far from tight, Rooney coming into form, RVP possibly with a point to prove, Mata could well have a good scoring week.

If i don't have to make a transfer then I try to save it where i can, you never know who will get injured, always helps to have a transfer handy.

I zig when Lukaku zags. I've dodged his goals with unerring accuracy.

I've owned him 3 times this season and been really positive about it each time and each time he has failed to deliver for me. This time round I'm skeptical - does that mean he will do well?

I'm entering the dark realms of second-guessing myself and mystical thinking now. Not good 😐

I did a little calculation a while back. I owned him for about the same number of weeks as not owning him. He scored around twice the points per game while I haven't had him. He hates me so much he would even jeopardise his career to annoy me.

I swore I wasn't going to get him in again, but no matter how hard I try, a team with Jelavic up front instead doesn't look good enough.

Anyone got an idea if Bacuna and Baker both nailed on/reasonable options for Villa? I'm thinking they're dead cheap, could be benched for the double game week, and have their own double to be scheduled.

Bacuna certainly is but he's a midfielder in the game which kinda sucks.

Who are people captaining this week? My options are

      Suarez or Sturridge (man u)
      Lambert (NOR)
      Hazard (a villa)
      Lallana (NOR)
      Mirallas (CARDIFF)
      AJ (CRYSTAL PALACE)

Could do Suarez, but do fancy one of my home players against the crappy opposition

I'm going with Suarez at the moment. Chelsea away are always problematic and Lallana tends to dissapoint when you expect him to do something (similar to Lukaku).

      Morning lads.
If Aguero is back I might hold my WC to next week.. But what are the odds? Would you overlook the early transfer of Ade -> Aguero and just play this side?

      Boruc (Mannone)
Evra // Demel // Azpi // Chambers (Ward)
Mata // Lallana // Hazard (c) (Snoddy, Noone)
      Suarez // Aguero // Sturridge

If I WC today this will be my new team

      Boruc // Mannone)
      Baines // Demel // Ivanovic // Coleman // Chambers
      Yaya // AJ // Hazard // Sterling // Noone
      Suarez // Lukaku // Sturridge

That's what I'm considering. Or just confirm it now and get a solid team for both this GW and the double.

I think its tough because you've got Sou and Che players and they've got good fixture this GW ... If you think you can can hold off on WC until next week I would

Aguero made 1 pass in the Barca game. I wouldn't be having him near my team for three weeks.
Another injury waiting to happen even if he's back for the double imo Don.

      Azpi Ward Distin*
      Gerrard* Yaya* Hazard Ki*
      Suarez* Rooney* Lukaku*
      Boruc Ince John Yoshida

I can field 8 DGWers for 2 hits next week..

would you take additional hit to field 9 DGWers Yoshida >> Chester* (if nailed on) and bench Ward?
