The ScoutCast – Episode 128 – Robotic

Is there really room for emotion and sentiment in Fantasy Football management? This week’s episode questions whether the detached, cold and almost robotic approach is the way to go. Of course, Granville and I already know the answer, leaving us to curse our sensitive sides. Ironically, this realisation comes after a weekend when, not for the first time, Aleks Kolarov almost reduced me to tears.

The pair of us manage to restore a stiff upper lip long enough to rinse through further double Gameweek debate, chew the fat over the belated Luis Suarez assist and take on another selection of posers from you, the listener. There’s “all aboard” the weekend preview and the latest in my battle with the ScoutCast XI. It’s beating me again. Without a player from the top four. Is it any wonder I’m an emotional wreck?

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Close, but I'd probably go for A personally, Lukaku should hopefully come good over the next few games (he was unlucky not to score last week). Good luck! 🙂

      I rate Coleman and Jelavic higher. Lukaku is third on the list of 'must-have' Everton players.

      My first reply fail of the day below! Here's my answer :

      Hmm, I don't think so, Mata still has a DGW and I can't see him not playing in either game. Also, the result in the CL could mean United improve from here on in. Good luck! 🙂

    How does ultimate work with a dgw?

    Would you only be able to bring players in on match day 3/4 if they haven't played in match day 1?

      All of the dgw players play on Saturday so you can't bring any others in. The only players you can sub in on Sunday are from Spurs. Soton, Villa and Stoke but I doubt you will want to. After Sunday everyone has played so you can make no more Manager subs.

    Is ivanovic to baines for a -4 worth it when I already have Coleman? That would take me up to 9 dgw players.

    Think I've nailed the DGW team with my WC 😀

    Benching Hazard could be disastrous but I have already won my league with 100 points to go.
    Therefore I'm going to try and climb up the Overall table with risky decisions.

            Yeah, me too. I just have little faith in the mids around the 6.5m mark at the moment. AJ has loads of fixtures, but most are tough. Nolan has toughies after the double. Sissoko - meh.

            Kinda think doubling on EVE's defence looks better for the next 4 GWs - 2 good doubles and FUL in 3 of the 4.

            Perhaps Kos and Distin is a better mix given NEW have little to play for and their fixtures are tricky after this week?

            To me, 3 extra doubles with the fixtures and form Johnson has just means 6 extra points.

            Being rigid and sticking with 3-4-3 regardless of who is available makes no sense IMO. I strongly feel 4-3-3 makes the most sense.

          As Fletcher has been putting the chances away.....he's been just as bad as Altidore. Their only decent striker is Borini.

        My biggest issue with Zaba is it means no slots left for Aguero when he returns. If Kos didn't have such tough fixtures I'd be all over C - just think che, MCY, eve will be tough for Arsenal cleanies.

        How about:

        D) Williamson, Distin & Ki -> extra cash means I can afford:

        GW32: Gerrard -> Hazard
        GW33: Sturridge -> Aguero

          Good point regarding wanting Aguero, but I plan to downgrade one of Silva/Yaya (my only expensive mids) should I want Aguero as I won't be able to afford him otherwise, so I am not worried about that.

    Adrian seems to be a popular choice but the forthcoming DGW's for Mannone just pipped it for me

    would love to see a RMT with Jelavic, Carroll and Rooney for once
    instead of Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku
    really think captaining someone other than Suarez could be a huge differential this game week(s)

      Of course it could, but it's bigger chance not captaining him will cost you. He's leading in goals, assists and has two nice fixtures etc, and in form.. difficult to find a reason not to captain him

      It would be very risky given Suarez's huge score potential and likely pretty much blanket captaincy. Fail and it could bury you. Whereas to get a big reward you will need him to be very quiet.
