The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 31

We turn to the Scout Picks and Differntials for inspiration as we look to get one over Paddy Power. Two of the top three midfielders in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game get our backing and we also put our faith in a born-again Fantasy talent now plying his trade on Humberside:

Our first match of interest is the KC encounter between Hull and West Brom tomorrow afternoon. Paddy are offering massive 50/1 for Nikica Jelavic to score two or more and the Tigers to keep a clean sheet – decent odds, given that very scenario occurred as recently as Gameweek 27 away to Cardiff. The Croatian has notched three times in his last five, whilst Steve Bruce’s side have kept out their opponents twice over that period and we’re willing to part company with £3 for this one.

On to the Etihad next, where Man City entertain basement-dwellers Fulham. This time around, Paddy are prepared to offer 16/5 on Yaya Toure to score and the hosts to register a clean sheet. The Ivorian has scored in three of his last five home appearances, and with Manuel Pellegrini’s side racking up three consecutive clean sheets, we’re willing to make this our bet of the week and hand Paddy £4 of our kitty.

Our final £3 goes on Liverpool’s trip to Cardiff. Paddy are offering 13/2 on Steven Gerrard to score and the Merseysiders to keep out Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s strugglers. The Reds skipper has scored four times in his last three road trips alone, and with Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge wreaking havoc up top, there’s always the likelihood of another spot-kick falling his way. Liverpool have registered back-to-back shut-outs, whilst their hosts have failed to score in six of Solskjaer’s 10 games in charge.

    If you've already taken a 8 point hit.

    Would you bring in Yaya for Hazard for another -4?
    Fancy Yaya to outscore Hazard this week. Will bring Hazard back in, in the near future.
    Don't really care about my OR, but chasing my ML by 28 points. Leader has Yaya.

    Thank you!

    I have decided i've had enough of this nonsense Sissoko talk and i'm going to start my very own mid-range bandwagon in the form of Mark Noble.
    He's pretty much the shorter whiter less talented version of Yaya Toure so you really can't go wrong. Almost half the price at a mere £5.2m he takes penalties, some indirect frees and corners. When was the last time Yaya took a corner? Exactly. And Yaya doesn't have a long haired lamp post heading in dem' crosses for those beautiful fantasy assist points.

          TBH I'd hate to be in your position, going without Suarez is near on FPL suicide this week. Rooney 'might' do alright, but you just never know. I think back Rooney on the basis that he'd do better without RVP in the side.

        To follow up, you're probably going to fall behind on Suarez owners by about 25 points this gameweek, so what does it really matter when it comes to your other moves. I guess they could serve as some kind of damage limitation, given that they are differentials that come good. Arrrgggghhhhh, this is insanity. Get Suarez!

          I had Suarez all season from the second he was back from ban. Couldn't afford Aguero for dgw and Sturridge had been doing so well so took the awful mistake of downgrading the week of the Southampton match and Suarez has out scored him ever since.. Stupid mistake but it's been made now..

            Sorry if I was hard on you. I just couldn't wrap my head around the situation, especially since you still have Aguero. A lot of people jumped the gun early in terms of putting all their faith in Aguero, so I guess you weren't the only one in that department. For me, when a guy is coming back from injury, I usually give him about two games before I jump back in just to see how he's doing and if he is really back and fit. That has served me well for years now. I recommend this to the many people that got overzealous about Aguero's return.

I was on a strict budget needed to make a decision and yes now kb iousky I know it was the wrong one. Which is why I'm asking for the advice ha

            An understandable decision at the time. I know you weren't the only one thinking of selling Suarez for Aguero. However what I don't understand is why in the GW's since have you not got him back?

                  I know its easy to be caught up in the DGW madness though. It would have been nice to have 10/11 DGWers and plan accordingly. Sometimes these things don't go according to plan though.

                        Rooney in for Aguero is an improvement for sure. Your team isn't bad overall. I just got all wound up over Aguero and no Suarez. But, let's let bygones be bygones. You should score pretty well with that group.................Still NO Suarez Though! . .. .. . Ha! Watch him blank and you have the last laugh.

      Meh. Everybody has more or less the same team.
      Sturridge captain would be the only thing to make it exciting for me.

        Everyone on FFS that is. However there are plenty in the game who aren't as clued up as we are when it comes to DGW's so a standard template team might fetch you a healthy green arrow, even in the top 20k.

          I'm pretty sure most in the top 100k are on this now.. everybody at the top of my league is I'm sure.. I can see it in the transfers etc.
          Might captain Sturridge altogether.

            I disagree, however we will have a better idea on this at the end of the DGW. I'm banking on the DGW to get ahead of any remaining casuals nearer the top, I'll play it save with my somewhat template DGW side.

        Have to agree. Most of the top 10K will have similar teams. Glad I'm in the top 10K now as making ground isn't as easy as previous seasons.

    Narrowed it down to 2...best option? Think I'm slightly favouring B as it means I get to keep Terry

    A) Coleman, Williamson & Ki
    B) Distin, Williamson & Nolan

    Subsequent transfers:

    A) GW32: Gerrard -> Hazard
    GW33: Save
    GW34: Terry & Sturridge -> Bardsley & Aguero

    B) GW32: Save
    GW33: Nolan & Gerrard -> Delph/Ki & Hazard
    GW34: Sturridge -> Aguero

    Manonne, Gazzaniga
    Baines, xxx, xxx, Chester, Terry
    Yaya, Silva, Gerrard, xxx, Gnabry
    Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku

          Consider Nolan or AJ. They are the main contenders for the mid priced option. Sagna might be the fall guy.

    Willing to take a 8/12 point but not sure which players to remove and subsequently which formation to play for this dgw

    - Players i am def removing: Rvp and Jrod...which would give me

    adrian
    evra baines vlaar (shaw chambers)
    silva nolan barkley hazard (snoddy)
    suarez xxx xxx

    So...
    A: use my 3rd transfer on removing snoddy and then benching barkley/hazard
    B: use my 3rd transfer on removing chambers and then either starting him ahead of vlaar in a 3-4-3 even a 4-3-3 with snoddy and barkley benched

    basically confused whether a mid priced mid i.e. Aj/ox or someone like zaba/kos will give me more points??
