The ScoutCast – Episode 129 – Bitter

There’s no getting away from it, Granville and I are nothing short of bitter middle aged, middle of the table Fantasy managers. This week’s ScoutCast is a vitriol-filled slab of double Gameweek failure, inspired by Yaya Toure’s relentless point scoring and our stubborn reluctance to recruit his talents.

Of course, in between skinning our sour grapes, Granville and I dabble with the podcast regulars, whilst responding to another round of community posers including a lookey-likey query that smiles kindly on my co-host and has me recounting the tale of my very own office doppleganger.

Wallow in self pity via this link or look on the bright side via the player below…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Would you transfer out Collins (fairly happy with my defence apart from him) or Zaha (dead weight - not out yet due to other priorities) this week? Any suggestions for replacements would help

that's enough kolarov dreaming. now some grim realism.
*IF* the rotation continues with clichy then kolarov will only play the liverpool game in the dgw. very likely not cool

Repost lost at bottom of last page (sorry)

Which player this season have you had in your team that has done nowt for you whilst you have had him in your team and flourished every time you have got rid of that player?

For me Adebayor has been a major troll for me this season.Had him twice and got zero rewards yet as soon as he is out he explodes.

On the other hand i did get Jonny Evans for a short period of time and he immediately wrecked my head,he is the uber troll of FPL

The template team and where to find differentials

    Che defender, Eve defender
    Yaya, Hazard
    Suarez, Sturridge, Lukaku

These 7 players are virtually in every team, Evertons DGW and the form of the other players make this lot near on essential. So that leaves 4 other spots to find differentials. I believe that there is room to climb the ranks based on those 4 spots, you don't need to forgo the likes of SaS, Hazard or Yaya to make up ground imo.

It reminds me of when SAR used to be a really good combination earlier in the season. Few could afford Aguero, Rooney and Suarez so those of us that had them did really well. Till Aguero got injured of course.

this is the possible beauty, i think a lot of people are tied to SAS and lukaku until after gw34 now, and also many have baines and coleman meaning they can't get barkley. aguero and barkley v yaya and lukaku could be a good battle

I like your thinking AB, using the template to your advantage. Sometimes the template can hamper the top sides and finding any nugget of weakness can really propel you up the ranks.

Its a really good time to play 4 at the back. Crickey, even 5 at the back wouldn't be a bad bet with just Hazard and Toure in the middle.

Not really imo. Barkley is finding some nice form but if that drops off he could find his way on the bench again. In general there is a lot of rotation in the Everton midfield right now, just not enough upside trading Mirallas for Barkley.

Thoughts on a cashing in downgrade on Januzaj?

Held through thick and thin he's the eyesore and constant reminder of a poor Jan WC.

But he's tieing but some cash resource I could be using to ramp up my team.

On the other hand transfers are precious and I wonder is it worth my wile.

He often finds himself in acres of space with a fair straight forward shooting opportunity. He has a talent for ghosting into spaces, that coupled with his powerful shot makes him unstoppable.

Bony is a good bet but its just impossible to find room for him when there are just 3 striker spots. I think Michu is the one to watch though. In fact I'd put him down as possibly the best differential going into the end of the season.

Without looking at stats I'd say its Sturridge.

Sturridge I think, Suarez seems to win through sheer weight of shots, though quite a few are from further out and thus more difficult to score.

Also, I think Suarez takes the same approach in his dribbling.

It does resemble an epileptic fit.

Tough one. I think the stats would be misleading anyways. Suarez creates so much and takes pop shots from all over. Sturridge does seem to tuck his chances away nicely though.

The quality of Sturridge's finishes have been better than Suarez this season, imo. Especially on-on-one.
Remarkable improvement for Sturridge. Rodgers has to be a factor in that. Not actual coaching skills, as Sturridge is obviously a gifted player being played out of position at Chelsea.
But man management -- Rodgers has brought the best out of him, no doubt.
      Laissez Faire management FTW.

Maturing as a player and passing the ball on for his team mates to finish has helped too

Yeah, this GW was quite brutal on both of them. I hope they do better next season.
