Scout Picks – Gameweek 32

We return to normality this week after the 15-match marathon that was Gameweek 31. Four teams – Everton, Chelsea, Southampton and Liverpool – supply our Scout Picks XI with a pair of players apiece, whilst a couple of Manchester-based options also get the nod:

Vito Mannone welcomes West Ham to the Stadium of Light on Monday evening, having kept two clean sheets in his last three home encounters. Sam Allardyce’s side are struggling for goals on the road and have netted just once in their last two away games, so another shut-out could be on the cards for the Italian, whose save-point appeal has helped him average five points per game to date.

Everton’s trip to Fulham brings Seamus Coleman into defence. The marauding right-back will be looking for his seventh goal of the season against Felix Magath’s strugglers, whilst the expected return of Phil Jagielka strengthens the Toffees chances of registering back-to-back shut-outs for the first time since Gameweek 14.

John Terry’s Fantasy owners will be confident of further returns as Chelsea travel to Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon. The Blues have conceded just five times in their last 15 league matches and face an Eagles side that have scored once in their previous five. Terry’s threat in the box and ability to hoover us the bonus points keeps him ahead of his defensive team-mates in our estimations.

A home game with Newcastle hands Jose Fonte a spot in our back three. The Magpies have scored just once in the last five without the injured Loic Remy, whilst Fonte has found the net more times (3) and earned more bonus points (18) than any other option at the back for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Three double-figure hauls in the last four Gameweeks highlights the relentless form of City’s Yaya Toure. Granted, a trip to the Emirates is no easy task, but with the Gunners shipping eight in their last two and devoid of Laurent Koscielny at the back, the Ivorian’s set-piece and spot-kick duties will boost his quest to serve up the Fantasy points yet again.

Eden Hazard is drafted into this week’s Scout Picks for Chelsea’s trip to Palace. Tony Pulis’ side have just a single shut-out to their name over the last seven, and with 14 goals and 10 assists thus far, the Belgian will be confident of delivering his ninth double-figure haul of the season against the Selhurst Park strugglers.

The relentless consistency of Steven Gerrard could be key for Liverpool’s home clash with Spurs. Having already put five past their opponents at White Hart Lane earlier this season, Brendan Rodgers’ side will be optimistic of notching an eighth successive win and keeping their title tilt on track – a free-kick against Sunderland in midweek means the Reds skipper has now produced a goal or assist in nine of his last 10 Anfield appearances.

Having ended a six-game scoring drought at Spurs last weekend, Adam Lallana looks to have rediscovered his form ahead of the visit of Newcastle. The Southampton captain certainly seems to prefer home comforts – five of his seven double-figure hauls have arrived at St Mary’s – and he’ll be looking to plunder the points against a Magpies backline that has just shipped three to Everton in midweek.

David Moyes may have one eye on Tuesday’s Champions League game with Bayern but it seems highly unlikely he’ll be prepared to omit Wayne Rooney from his XI to face Aston Villa. The under-fire United boss is in desperate need of a morale-boost after some damaging home defeats to Liverpool and City, and with a knee injury keeping Robin van Persie in the treatment room, Rooney’s run of four goals in the last five look vital to the hosts’ chances of delivering against a Midlands outfit that were hit for four by Stoke last weekend.

Yet again, Luis Suarez is the overwhelming favourite in this week’s Captain Poll. The Uruguayan has already delivered 22 points against Sunday’s opponents Tottenham in the Gameweek 16 mauling that led to the dismissal of Andre Villas-Boas, and with Tim Sherwood’s side conceding four in their last road trip, Suarez seems poised to take advantage of the visitors’ porous backline and could be in line for a fifteenth double-figure point-return of an incredible season.

Four goals in his last five in all competitions since returning from injury suggests Romelu Lukaku is in his best form of the season. Having racked up the returns in the Toffees’ double Gameweek, the big Belgian now makes his way to Craven Cottage to face a Fulham side that have leaked 12 goals in five matches since Felix Magath’s appointment.

A home game against Hull hands Stoke the chance to extend a run which has seen them taste defeat just once in their last eight. With the visitors scoring a mere 11 times on their travels all season, we call up Ryan Shawcross, whose threat in the box and ability to pick up bonus could come to fruition at the Britannia.

Moved to the bench in midweek as Gus Poyet went on the defensive at Anfield, Adam Johnson still found time to grab an assist as a second-half substitute. Sunderland need to go on the attack against West Ham on Monday evening and the wide man will surely be reinstalled to the starting XI for this proverbial six-pointer.

Wilfried Bony is a little unlucky only to make the bench for Swansea’s home game with Norwich. Goals against Everton and Arsenal in last week’s double continued the form which has seen the Ivorian score eight times in 12 appearances since the turn of the year – he looks vital to the hosts’ chances of clinching the points against Steve Bruce’s side.

Wouldn't bench an in-form mid with a decent enough fixture like Swansea, even if it is away. Also, Southampton have been letting in quite a lot of goals and haven't kept a home cleanie in 10 weeks.

      Bench Fonte.

I would actually have Nasri over Michu but I think Silva is sufficient coverage until their next DGW, that being said; Eriksen you should definitely get in and both Michu and Nasri are good differentials with high ceilings so just take your pick. If you want to save even more cash so you can get in another Chelsea defender or a City defender than opt for Snoddy instead

OK, it's come down to this. Here's my current team:

    1FT, 0.9 in bank.

    Adrián
    Cahill, Flanagan, Coleman
    Mirallas, Noone, Yaya Touré, Silva
    Suárez, Sturridge, Rooney

    Pantilimon, Chamberlain, Ward, Olsson

I'm pretty set on selling Chamberlain now. I'm tempted to punt on either Arnautovic or Eriksen who both have good fixtures and are in excellent form. Like either of them, any other ideas?

I took a break from FFS during the week and was surprised to see Schurrle trending. Reason being that I think he's only managed consecutive starts three times this season and this week against Arsenal both first choice players Ramires and Willian were banned. If not for that, I don't think he would have started. Willian is back now and Ramires is back in two games. Add PSG Champions League rotation to that and I wouldn't even be sure of getting decent minutes from him, let alone him doing anything with them. He also doesn't compare well to Eriksen on the comparison tool - I think he's very much a one dimensional kind of player that is very effective against teams that play a high line.

Maybe with nothing to lose we'll do something, but the mentality just seems miles off City who get the job done when it matters. As convincing an example of choking this season as I've seen for many moons.

I also suspect Ox might have a battle starting, given that he was subbed off for Podolski and Podolski almost immediately scored then set up Giroud's goal.

Even if i took Ox out this week ( which i defo wouldnt) eriksen wont be the replacement for me, i just dont buy this eriksen hype.

Sorry not trying to disagree with u on all shit, its just my gut says you should really stick to Ox.

Yeah I genuinely appreciate having another opinion, as the objective is always to get the points so agreeing is irrelevant. Gut feeling is one of those things you can't really explain yet does work on occasion - AJ and Lallana were two gut feeling punts that came off.

The way people on here talk, you'd think Silva was a plague. Never scored any points, not worth his price etc.

Meanwhile Barkley is everyone's darling. How quickly his 12 points in his last 9 appearances is forgotten...

Mata and Noone are putting a dent in my team value. Mata costing me 0.2 so far, Noone due to fall again for another 0.2.

Tempted to take hits to get rid but Mata has a good fixture, and it's all about points this stage of the season. Wanna try and break into the top 5k.

Mmmm yeah, Arsenal just aren't scoring too many, but they do score a bit more at home and the last game against City was a ridiculous goalfest. If both sides decide to go out and attacking it could be mad. It's tricky.

With 7.5 in the bank I'm not really spoilt for choice. Lallana is out of my budget and I already have Mirallas. Not keen on getting Barkley to end up with two rotation prone Everton mids. Have considered Arnautovic. Of all of them, Eriksen looks like a frontrunner.

Surely Snodgrass can't be a better option than Eriksen. Bit depressing if he is. Also Norwich only have one good home game remaining and two decent away games, but they score even less away. And this week they're away to Swansea. If they were hosting West Brom this week for example, I might consider it.

                  11, 0(injured, subbed at HT), 6, 6, 9

What's not to like? These 3 games are the last real chance for points for Norwich. Eriksen is just an enormous troll.

I think it's just all those memories of Norwich and Snodgrass scoring nothing earlier in the season, that makes me wonder if this latest burst is fleeting. Also if I'm going to get a player for 3 games I'd need quite a lot of upside from them - those points would be good, but I'd be surprised if it kept up like that.

Eriksen had a bad spell under AVB, was brought in for a very nicely scoring spell under Sherwood, then infamously missed those four games followed by his return to the first team and a brace the next game. It's not so mad.

Thanks all, not on twitter. Agree breadbin option a fairly likely outcome but the one game I haven't has him in 2014 was his 14pts, feel like I'm owed now.

If a player gets a red card rescinded, do we get the points back in FPL?

I just cant catch a break against my ML rival. He's been 20 points ahead for months! I switch captains, his midfielder gets a brace. My keeper gets a clean sheet, his defender gets a goal. Mcgregor was getting me decent points in the DGW...he gets red-carded...I lose the points, then the card gets overturned!

        I need a cunning plan!

    A) Luiz
    B) Januzaj
    C) Reid
    D) Steven Davis

For my draft league team and it's important I beat my rival. Cheers fellas!...

    Mutch's goal involvement is incredible.

Essential if Cardiff keep scoring goals.

If they're relying on Mutch they must be struggling. I think when Noone is fit he's the better of the two. 2 goals against Liverpool or not.

Mutch is their best attacking player from what I've seen. Both are good though

Not a big issue as long as he keeps delivering when called upon. Looks like the only cheap mid with a explosive potential at the moment.

I'm in two minds as to moving out Evra this week.

If I did sell him I'd bring in Azpil & be doubling up on Chelsea.

If I don't sell him and he doesn't play I'd have Zabaleta off the bench.

    b. Keep

Arsenal may not score so it's no bad thing if Zaba does and you hold the transfer. Doubling up on Chelsea defence seems preferable to Evra.

I'm going to move Evra on next week for sure, it's just the slight fear of the unknown and holding the transfer might be smart. Thanks for the reply.

No problem. United are all over the shop at the minute and they may play Buttner in prep for Munich, I'd move to Azpil this week if I were you.
