Injuries

The Treatment Table – Gameweek 33

We scour the post-match reports and injury rooms after the weekend’s matches in order to discover those players who picked up problems over Saturday and Sunday’s nine matches:

Arsenal
The Gunners back-up keeper Lukasz Fabianksi missed yesterday’s trip to Goodison through illness.

Aston Villa
Fabian Delph missed Saturday’s home loss to Fulham with an Achilles problem, though Paul Lambert is confident the midfielder will be in contention for next week’s trip to Palace

“Delph trained on yesterday and was a bit sore. He’s feeling a bit sore at the back of his legs at the minute, hopefully he’ll be all right for next week. I think there was a risk that if he’s played he might have pulled something.”

Chelsea
Andre Schurrle picked up a foot problem in Saturday evening’s win over Stoke following a challenge by Charlie Adam. After the game, Jose Mourinho seemed confident the German would be available for tomorrow’s Champions League clash with PSG:

“I believe he will be okay to play. I like aggressive football and I can’t get inside the mind of a player to decide if the intention was to hurt or not, so it’s fine for me.”

Everton
Leon Osman was forced off with an eye injury just 10 minutes into Sunday’s win over Arsenal. After the game, Roberto Martinez confirmed the midfielder should be ready for the Toffees’ clash against Sunderland next weekend:

“Leon’s really lucky to avoid serious injury. He’s got a nasty cut that needed stitches on top of his eye and his eyelid was affected. But he’s fine and will be fine for the weekend.”

Hull
Tom Huddlestone missed the 1-0 win over Swansea with a back problem. The midfielder took to Twitter to reveal his omission was merely precautionary, with Steve Bruce perhaps having one eye on next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final with Sheffield United.

Liverpool
Daniel Agger missed yesterday’s trip to West Ham after picking up a knee problem in training, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed. Speaking to Sky Sports prior to the 2-1 Upton Park win, the Liverpool boss revealed:

“Daniel hurt his knee and had to come out of training and isn’t able to play. It shouldn’t be too serious – he’s just had to miss today and was touch and go.”

Man City
Yaya Toure picked up a knock in the home win over Southampton, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed. The City boss is optimistic the problem is not serious ahead of double Gameweek 34.

Man United
Ashley Young was subbed off less than 20 minutes into United’s emphatic win at Newcastle after damaging ligaments in his hand, David Moyes has confirmed. Patrice Evra is also a concern for the Red Devils ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League trip to Bayern. The Frenchman revealed he was forced off at St James’ Park with an ongoing knee problem but told the club’s official website “I think I will be fit” to face Pep Guardiola’s side.

Southampton
Jay Rodriguez lasted less than half an hour of Saturday’s loss at City before being stretchered off with a potentially serious knee injury. Mauricio Pochettino admitted after the game he fears the Saints’ top scorer could be out for the remainder of the season. Artur Boruc and Gaston Ramirez missed the Etihad clash with a minor back problem and ankle knock respectively.

Stoke
Stephen Ireland missed out of the Potters’ visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening through illness.

West Brom
Midfield duo Graham Dorrans and Zoltan Gera were both forced off with injuries in the weekend win at Norwich, according to the local press. Dorrans left the field on 77 minutes and was replaced by Gera but the Hungarian lasted just six minutes before sustaining a suspected hamstring problem.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Seems like the consensus move is Sturridge to Kun, although it depends what you paid for ole' Danny Boy. I got him in at his low price of 9.1 so it is a stretch got get the 12.0 priced Kun.

I also have Kolarov, Zabs and Silva so would need to drop Kolarov as well to make space.

Given how poor Liverpool are at the back and the tricky run of fixtures I would suggest you bin Skrtel in favour of someone like Chester - 3.8 and though there is a blank this week there is a double coming up. You could take a punt on Stones as well if you want someone to play this week, but I suspect you have a full back 3 with Coleman-Fonte-Ward playing and Ivan maybe on the bench.

Please note we did the double over Liverpool last season, beat United at Old Trafford this season, and if it was not for a very dubious penalty in the last minute we would have beaten Chelsea at the Bridge this season.
Its the other 15 teams that appear to give us a bit of a problem!!!

As with Christian above, I'm really struggling to find the right way to get Kun. Trying all kinds of exotic plans that make it easier to get Mata and Rooney later and keep Chelsea defenders.

Frustratingly, Coleman > Stones is 0.1 short of Studge > Kun and likely price changes are moving it further away.

Same price as Boruc for me (I was surprised too) and that would be a hit too, which would be annoying.

I could just do Cahill > Mariappa and be done with it. Just seems a shame to lose Cahill for the sake of a temporary cash bottle-neck. After this week I'll trim a mid and I'm in the money again.

I'd rather have 90 mins of Kun versus Pool and Sun than 90 mins of Studge versus City

If you want a City striker Aguero is the man to get. If you already have Dzeko don't sell him and don't get Aguero now.

People are going completely overboard on aguero.with the amount of bother he has had this season he won't be pushed into more than cameo roles for the next few games.

Twice this season I have been excited for Aguero returning from injury and twice I have been let down soon after buying.

    12.0m worth it?

Imo that money can be spread much more efficiently throughout the team...then again... this is Aguero :/

so think this will end up being my GW34 team but the armband will be a tough choice, that last Lukaku (c) fail hurt too much..might be punty and go Baines for the hell of it..following that Arsenal win I'd say they're certainly capable of two cleansheets..feel it MIGHT be too early to get Kun but I could see him featuring in both games, even if it's only 30 min in each (think he'll start vs Liverpool though)...only problem is I truly believe he's saving himself for the WC so he won't be his usual 150% frenetic self..but I'd still take 80% Kun over most other PL strikers..especially with favorable and multiple fixtures to come

    Speroni
    Ward - Baines (c) - Coleman
    Puncheon - Yaya - Nasri - Hazard
    Suarez - Lukaku - Aguero

      I like it, looks decent.

9 DGWers is strong, fairly similar to mine

I think I'm going to bring Aguero in this week anyway, hope against any injuries, as if he doesn't get injured, even if he doesn't perform this week, he's still a great option

Ok not asking for help with transfers but really stuck on who to bench this week. Current line up as so

    Mannone (Boruc)
    Ivan Coleman Ward (Mariappa Chester)
    Johnson Nasri Yaya Hazard (Lallana)
    Suarez Lukaku Aguero.
Have I got it right :/
