FFS Paddy Power Cup IX and Members Cup IV – Sixth Round Draws

We roll out the draw for the Sixth Round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup IX and Members Cup IV, as sponsored by Paddy Power, this evening. The last remaining previous winner of the former competition, MCH, was finally eliminated in Gameweek 33 after he was defeated 74 points to 54 points by Tractor Boys:

Tractor Boys now faces ChelseaFan FC for a place in the last 16, while some of the other match-ups to catch the eye include Heartbreakd v Woeisme, EASYLUCKYFREE v Attila the Bum and Shipsontrev v Rossaldinho.

A tip of the hat goes to Exxtreme, who racked up 86 points in the previous round, making him the highest-scoring manager to progress. ChelseaFan FC is the top-ranked manager here, sitting 972nd spot in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) rankings.

A full list of last week’s results is here, and the draw for the Sixth Round, which kicks off this Saturday afternoon and lasts right through to Wednesday evening, when Everton entertain Palace and City host Sunderland, can be found here.

In the FFS Members Cup IV, we’re down to the last 16 managers. Some of the stand-out ties for Gameweek 34 include HuttonDressedasLahm v In Tommy We Trust, Spencer v Brunei Futbol DNA and Trigg v Dullardinho.

Brunei Futbol DNA was the highest-scoring manager in the Members Cup for the second week running, weighing in with 87 points, whilst Shipsontrev has the loftiest overall ranking in FPL, currently sitting in 999th position.

You can click here to check out the Sixth Round draw, which gets underway this weekend, whilst the full list of Fifth Round results can be found here.

As always, good luck to all those still in with a shout of the silverware.

I can't decide on my next move and would really appreciate a sanity check on my current thinking.

I would like Aguero but, with 3 City already, would need a 4 pointer to do it, despite 2FTs. Thoughts on the following please.

    Current Line up

    Hart
    Dann, Baines, Distin
    Puncheon, Eriksen, Silva, Yaya Touré
    Sturridge, Lukaku, Suárez

    (Hazard, Chester, Cahill)

    Proposal

    Hart > Any Keeper
    Hazard > Lalanna
    Sturridge > Aguero

    Resulting in

    Any Keeper
    Dann, Baines, Distin
    Puncheon, Lallana, Silva, Yaya Touré
    Aguero, Lukaku, Suárez

    (Eriksen, Chester, Cahill)

Wait til next week for Aguero. Then do Lukaku -> Aguero in GW35. It will save your sanity.

I would do Hazard to Lallana this week.

You can then the other two moves next week. This saves the 4 point penalty.

Aguero may score big but there is that risk that won't play 120 minutes.

It is tough and up to you.

I think with Silva and Yaya however you're covered enough in attacking sense than taking the hit isn't necessary. Especially as it leaves Eriksen benched.

    Mannone (EVE & mci)
Terry (swa), Coleman (sun & CRY), Koscielny (WHU)
Hazard (swa), Yaya Toure (liv & SUN), Silva (liv & SUN), Eriksen (wba)
Lukaku (sun & CRY), Suarez (MCI), Sturridge (MCI)

Marshall (sot), Mutch (sot), M Olsson (ful), Chester (N/A)

    0.2m and 1 FT

If Hazard is out, then is which option is better?

    a) Swap him out for Lallana. This leaves me 2.8m. I can afford Sturridge to Aguero OR Eriksen to Mata for the DGW37 or sooner. Mutch then gives me a strong 1st sub option.

    b) Swap him out for Puncheon. Mutch and Puncheon can rotate as my 5th midfielder. his would leave me with just enough funds to swap Lukaku out for Aguero AND Eriksen to Mata for the DGW37 or sooner.

    Many thanks.

Asked this a few weeks ago and got differing replies so i'll try again.

Is a 1k rank possible with a current rank of 7k?

In theory the DGW's should help but anyone in the top 10k will well know of them and should be well prepared. Thinking now is the time to sell one or more of the main protagonists and to go with one or two more differentials with lower ownership. Its not exactly a boom or bust philosophy as there's only 5 gw's left and with mini-leagues secure i think its time to go for best OR possible.

I'm not suggesting selling Suarez for example, but one or more of Hazard, Yaya, Lallana, Sturridge could be sold for Nasri, Silva, Mata, Aguero, Rooney or even Eriksen Michu Lambert Bony and Adebayor in the coming weeks. Lesser owned quality fpl players like the ones suggested are riskier but might shoot you into top 1k, where most players are playing defensively.

    Thoughts??

You can still rise quickly - ive gone 20k to 7k in the last two gw's, due mainly to Mata and Rooney (and yaya and suarez quiet).

You just need explosive lesser owned players...and also get captaincy right

Yes it is, you need some luck and skill. But it is very reachable imo.

For instance, i had an overall rank of 4000 before last gameweek, i had a good weekend and now my overall rank is 1600. Thats 2400 places in one gameweek. You need 6000 places in 5 gameweeks (and a couple of dgw).

Id keep away from punts, and keep picking solid players. In other words stay away from players like Michu and Bony.

      Best of luck!

this doesn't take the opponents into account and is a flawed setup..

I see Liverpool as a team scoring 2 max against City..

    Stones is 4.1
    Baines is 7.5

Is Baines worth the extra 3.4, considering I'll only play him GW34 and GW35?

Jagielka is potentially back next week against Man U.

Leaning towards Stones because it allows me to keep both Cahill and Mertesacker.

Do I do Johnson to eriksen or Ramsey for -1!?

      For -1, why not 🙂

Get Lallana unless you both have him already. Or Nasri?

Breadbin, just seen your reply. Does sturridge's form not concern you? Returns have dried up.

Also I meant aguero over lukaku for my team, know you already have luk. I'm thinking aguero, dzeko, suarez. just to make sure I have some of city's goals

The only concern with his form is I think he'll come good, probably very shortly. The move could be a disaster for that and/or a recurrence of Aguero's injury.

In your position I'd get him in if you're not shipping Sturridge for him.

suarez, sturridge, dzeko. I reckon you're going to tell me to stick with those three but I definitely want one of aguero/lukaku I think and sturridge is the only one I want to sell! hadn't considered sticking with what I have but will mull it over

You'll only want rid of Lukaku from next week onwards, and Aguero is a risk. Yep, that's my advice!

2 things are bothering me this GW.

      1. Getting Aguero in without waiting to see what kind of form he's in, minutes he'll receive etc. That could end in tears.

      2. Getting Nasri in because Silva us 'injured'. Silva will play both games IMO, and Nasri could miss one, especially if Citeh play 2 strikers. That could end in tears also.

So, my advice FWIW - get Silva, forget about Aguero.

        1) Both having and not having Aguero entails a high level of risk as we know how explosive he can be

        2) if City go with 2 strikers the odd man out is likely to be Navas, not Nasri.

The reason I'm leaning Aguero is that I'll want to have down the stretch run. This week may not be huge returns, but I think my alternative (Sturridge) hopefully won't be huge either.
