PlayON Player Picks – £1,000 Guaranteed Game – Free Entry For All New Sign-Ups

As always on Friday lunchtime, we turn our attentions to PlayON, the weekly Fantasy Football game. Scouring the PlayON Price List for potential bargains, we assessing the upcoming bumper Gameweek which sees six sides play twice– unsurprisingly, then, we focus on both Manchester teams ahead of tomorrow’s deadline, whilst in-form Sunderland are also on the radar:

This week PlayON have a £1,000 GUARANTEED game on offer – you can enter the game on the multiplayer page here. PlayON are also giving FREE ENTRY into the £1,000 GUARANTEED game for all new sign-ups between now and 10.45 on Sat morning – no deposit needed.

If you’re new to PlayON, it is weekly Fantasy Football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built, you can compete for cash. You can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 51% win rate up to this point. You can also create an open challenge against anyone else on the site – just click the amount you want to play for and the number of slots (number of people who can accept your challenge) on the one-on-one page .

For a more in-depth introduction to PlayON, take a look at this season’s introduction article.

Goalkeeper – Joe Hart
Priced at a mere 7.7m, the Man City stopper travels to Everton this weekend before hosting Villa at the Etihad in midweek. Manuel Pellegrini’s side chalked up their first shut-out in six attempts last Sunday and, whilst Hart may have to rely on saves for the Goodison encounter, Villa’s record of two goals in four matches is indicative of their struggling attack. David De Gea is also very favourably priced. Coming in at 7.4m, he welcomes Sunderland and Hull to Old Trafford this Gameweek and earned his first home clean sheet since January last weekend. Given their budget-friendly price tags, in comparison to other double Gameweek keepers, it’s difficult to look beyond the Manchester-based pair.

Defender – Patrice Evra
The Frenchman’s raids down the left offers the chance of points at both ends of the pitch for the Red Devils’ pair of matches. Setting you back 9.0m, Evra looks poised to start both matches and, as last week’s win over Norwich highlighted, Ryan Giggs is determined to go on the offensive and finish the season on a high. Sunderland’s Santiago Vergini is available for just 8.1m for a trip to United and home encounter with West Brom. The right-back looks to have risen above Phil Bardsley in the pecking order and offers the cheapest route into Gus Poyet’s backline, with a clean sheet to his name in last week’s resounding win over Cardiff. Coming in at 10.0m, Vincent Kompany is the cheapest of Manuel Pellegrini’s backline regulars but, with three goals to his name so far, the Man City skipper has netted more times than any defensive team-mate ahead of the matches against Everton and Villa.

Midfielder – Juan Mata
With five goals in his last four appearances, the Spaniard has finally settled at Old Trafford after a series of inconsistent displays. Mata climbed off the bench to bag a brace in Ryan Giggs’ debut at the helm last weekend and with doubts over both Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie, he seems poised to be re-installed to the starting XI ahead of the pair of home fixtures – coming in at 10.5m, he looks a canny acquisition for the Gameweek. Yaya Toure’s return from injury last week proved pivotal to Manchester City’s title ambitions. The Ivorian’s goal and assist in the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace ended the Eagles’ five-match winning streak and placed the visitors firmly in the driving seat for their second title in three seasons. Priced at 10.1m for the games against Everton and Villa, Toure still looks excellent value as he attempts to add to his 19-goal haul and fire Manuel Pellegrini’s side to the summit. Adam Johnson (9.2m) could finally be set to end a recent dry spell. Granted, a trip to Old Trafford is tricky, but the home game against West Brom bodes well – the Baggies have conceded three times in three of their last five fixtures.

Forward – Sergio Aguero
Available for 11.3m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List, the Argentine could be set to deal some real damage over the double. Aguero seems the safest bet from either of the Manchester sides to start both matches and, as we’ve seen in seasons gone by, his predatory nature in the penalty box could make all the difference to City’s title bid. Robin Van Persie is still a doubt for Man United’s matches against Sunderland and Hull but, having returned to training earlier in the week, the Dutchman – who comes in at a mere 7.8m – is very favourably priced and could be a real bargain if given the game time by Ryan Giggs. Handed his first start since February last weekend, Saido Berahino fired the winner against West Ham to take West Brom a step closer to survival. Available for 10.5m, the youngster has back-to-back matches against Arsenal and Sunderland to plunder the goals again.

With both RVP and Silva fit, it has to be Aguero. Doubt over Rooney only adds to that

Can Vidic play 2 games in that short spell? Probably will play the last home game imo. I am not sure about the first one.

Jones has competition from Smalling and Rafael who can play RB. Vidic competition is Rio and Jones

With Vidic it is more complicate IMO as I am not sure it is thateasy for him to handle 2 games in such short period. But maybe he may. Hard to say.

Evra and Jones are most likely to start both IMHO

I am going to do Lukaku - Wickham with my FT. Is it worth a hit for Nasri - Yaya as well?

It seems sideways and rivals have taken hits and I am fairly confident they have brought in Yaya. Their hits plus my no hits could mean keeping Nasri is the best option?

I did my share of scouting: watched highlights of Sunderland's last three matches and analysed his stats. They both tell the same thing: he is not half as good as people think he is now. His goals were opportunistic poacher goals: right place, right time, poke it in. but, that's the same thing as with penalties: these are very good chances and if he's the player in Sunderland who is going to get them, then he is going to get goals. He gets way more these chances than anybody gets penalties. It doesn't make him a great player in real life, but in FPL what matters is that it means he is going to get goals. Not bad option in FPL, imo.

Really need advice please. Best move for this week :

    A) Keep Rooney (i actually think that he will miss sunderland game) and do Evans for Alonso.

I will play Eriksen with Punch 1st sub

    B) Rooney and Evans for Giroud/Bony and Zaba/Evra (for a -4)

    C) Rooney, Evans and Puncheon for Wickham, Evra and Yaya (for a -8) ?

    Eriksen 1st sub

Johnson looked woeful against Cardiff. The only s'land player that had a poor game. He's still on some set pieces/corners which is a plus point considering whichever aerial threat. Other factor is might lose game time to giaccherini.

"Top lad" I think the phrase is.

Also finishing anywhere in the top 10k deserves a mention on any CV.

            Qualifications:

            Top 10k any season league
            Community league

It shows commitment, lateral thinking and an eye for stats dammit

So thankfully I haven't transferred in Rooney yet. Who is the best alternative?

    A) Stick with Lukaku
    B) Dzeko
    C) Wickham
    D) Van Persie
    E) Bony

Also is going without Mata a good idea?

Very hard call, see my post below. I fancy Wickham and Mata, but getting mata for -4 depends on who you would play if you didn't bring him in. If it's a crap player it could be worth it

This is my thinking... Feel free to pick holes in it.

Giggs hasn't ruled Rooney out of either game, but as he said, if he wants to play, it's hard for managers to say no anyway. With a bug and a tight groin, I think it's fair to say he is out for the Sunderland game. If he does play, it will probably be an under-weather performance, which effectively means he's got a single gameweek (Hull home), which he still a slight doubt for with it being 4 days away, however there is a good chance he will play some role in the game.

The knock-on effect is that Mata's potential is much better for at least one game of the double, but not maybe not the Hull game.

This means that doing my planned trade of Rooney > Wickham a week early for -4 and making a further hit of Ki > Mata so I don't have to play Coleman is not back on, right? I should just do Coleman > Evra for -4?

Giggs doesnt have a backbone and will just give in to Rooney is what I read in it. I hope they sign him up for the permanent job 😀

Surely Rooney in one game is worth Wickham + 4 points? (Which is what you wrote I see)

We are thinking along similar lines (I have got Stones or Distin rather than Coleman). I want Mata and already have Rooney. I don't think Rooney will get much gametime this week but it is a lottery. I am seriously considering Rooney to Wickham, freeing up money for Delph to Mata for -8.

    Hart
    Demi | Evra | Ivanovic
    Mata | Johnson | Eriksen | Ramsey
    Aguero (C) | Rooney | Suarez

7 DGWs for -4. All set I think, bit miffed by Rooney's doubt mind but will be keeping.

Agüero single City player, additional coverage is needed.

1 FT and 0.0 ITB. 2 or 3 of Baines, Salah and Coleman the likely transfers out.

    What would you do?

    A: Baines, Salah -> 4.3 and Nasri (-4)
    B: Baines, Coleman, Salah -> 2 def (8.6) and YYT (-8)
    C: Baines, Coleman -> 2 of Zaba/Komp/Demi (-4)
    D: Something else

Have Eriksen and Ramsey - the AJ option is actually decent.

It troubles me that I can't have Nasri/Yaya and a decent defender at the same time. Everyone me chasing has Nasri - but doubling up on City defs for -4 could would probably pay off with 1 CS. Hmmm...

I am bringing in yaya, but want to bring in dzeko as well, has scored quite well recently compared to aguero, but having both playing for 2 Games this week surely improves my chances of a big score as chasing my ML who is 23 points ahead.. he has yaya & aguero already so need a good city differential.

The only problem is I have to take out rooney or suarez for dzeko
