Premier League Fixtures Announced

The Premier League fixture list for 2014/15 was published earlier today at 9am, affording Fantasy managers an early window into the season ahead. Behind the scenes, we’ll be working on our fixture tickers throughout the day and aim to get these to you as soon as possible to offer a means of analysis of the opening six Gameweeks and, if you’re a member, the entire season:

Looking at the first few fixtures, Louis Van Gaal could hardly ask for a kinder start to life at Old Trafford. The new United boss entertains Swansea in his first league match in charge and with trips to Sunderland and Burnley preceding the visit of promoted Burnley and a trip to Leicester, early investment in the Red Devils assets looks on the cards, with Robin Van Persie’s appeal certainly heightened by such a schedule.

Defending champions Man City have a tougher task. Manuel Pellegrini’s men face three of last term’s top four in the first five Gameweeks – an opener at Newcastle is then followed with Etihad showdowns against Liverpool and Stoke, with a trip to Arsenal then preceding the visit of Chelsea.

Jose Mourinho’s side have reason for optimism in the first few matches. The Blues have three very kind fixtures in the first four Gameweeks – an opening day trip to Burnley is followed by a home clash with Leicester and with Swansea also visiting the Bridge in Gameweek 4, they could be amongst the Fantasy points at both ends of the pitch.

Liverpool open their season with an Anfield encounter against Southampton before hitting the road in three of the next four Gameweeks – trips to City, Spurs and West Ham present Brendan Rodgers’ troops with a far from straightforward schedule.

Everton don’t have it easy either. The Toffees welcome Arsenal and Chelsea to Goodison in the first three Gameweeks, though Roberto Martinez’ team will be optimistic, given they were victorious in the corresponding fixtures in 2013/14. A Merseyside derby at Anfield in Gameweek 6 is also testing.

Paul Lambert’s Villa face a tough task to get their season off to a prosperous start. An opening day to the Britannia is followed by games against Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and City in the opening seven Gameweek, while promoted Leicester hardly have it easy, either. The Foxes face Everton, Chelsea, Arsenal and United in the first five and with a trip to Stoke also included in that run, points look hard to come by.

We plan to focus on the schedule in further detail over the next few days, with a first “Frisking the Fixtures” article of the 2014/15 season rolled out in the next day or two.

I don't see how the 27mil reported fee is too excessive in the current market. Utd paid 20mil for Ferdinand for 12 years service so 27mil for the same with current inflation of prices is normal.

That is a cracking ew bet on 365. Back FGS ew at 9/2 and you effectively get 2.5 about Robben anytime…. GIFT

each way… 1/3 the odds… basically you are backing first goalscorer AND anytime goalscorer but it helps to bump the anytime price up to 2.5. Doubt you'll find it that big anywhere else

Hmm.. how good this is, depends on whether the stake is counted in the odds that they divide as well.

In fractional it seems to be indeed (9/2)/3 = 3/2, which makes the 2.5 in decimal when we add the stake there. But it is only when we add the part of the stake there. If you look at it directly in decimals, where the stake is already counted in the odds, it is 5.5/3 = 1.83333, and there is no adding of stake here anymore.

I'd guess they will count the stake into it first and only divide it by three after wards, so that it's not stake + 1/3 odds.

Or in fact, they probably don't return your stake at all in that case, so it's effectively 1.5 odds.

I recall that was how it went with the tying top goal scorers: for each winning top goal scorer bet I think I got stake*(odds/number of top goal scorers)-stake.

                        wow overcomplication!

if you bet on scorer ew @ 9/1 you get 9/1 (10.0) if they score first plus 3/1 (4.0)

if they dont score first, but score in match, you get 3/1 (4.0)

                        🙂

Has it ever worked for you like this. As said, I had these divided odds before with bet365, and it has always been without the stake returned. So 3/1 (3.0).

Or wait, does this each way mean you are actually putting in two individual stakes? So it's different than the division because of the winning conditions?

                        E.g. 10€ on Robben FGS, 10€ Robben AGS = 20€ as stakes.

Oh yes it is double stake, okay. So it just gets you the higher odds for anytime goal scorer. Should have said that in the first instance.

Now that I think of it, they would only both be dropped after Spain has lost to Chile as well, so Spain would be tied first to drop from World Cup if they lost to Chile tonight, as long as, in fact, Australia doesn't WIN the Netherlands (in that case, there would still be a chance for Spain, if they won Australia and Netherlands lost to Chile).

So, yeah, RVP and fellows can thrash Australia all they want, as long as Chile wins Spain, Australia and Spain are out the same exact moment and Spain will be the first reigning champion to go out the first in World Cup! Sweet! 😀

Hey Billy, how are going to calculate the results of the first round? I think some of the player scores are still wrong... Spanish defenders still haven't been deducted points for goals conceded, which makes me think that there might be mistakes in other games too... Are you going to manually recalculate points for each team?

In terms of low/mid-price FPL defensive rotation, the Stoke & Swansea combination starts off well next season. Their first 14 games would give you:

AVL, BUR, WBA, LEI, SOU, NEW, NEW, SWA, LEI, WHU, ARS, BUR, CRY, QPR

Home fixtures stiffen up after that though: ARS, TOT, CHE in GWs 15-17, but away fixtures at the same time are OK (whu, cry, hul).

      Nice.

Just can't get my head around rotating 5m+ keepers. Defenders i will though.

I got it all wrong with Mignolet last season. Two 4.5m keepers for me I think.

I'm doing the opposite. Went Foster boruc last season and it was a nightmare as i inevitably played the wrong GK. Going for a big'un and a 4m dross filler this time round i think. de Gea looks tempting...

well I WCed after 4 GWs to bring in Mig instead of my rotation GK bombscare (that culminated in the Foster injury). So I got all his 2pts too 🙂

You always post such helpful things, thanks man! 🙂

Not sure how much I'd trust Swansea's defence, they were going all out attack towards the end of last season under Monk, but that could have just been due to the season coming to an end.

Stoke on the other hand could be interestingly priced this year, hopefully a bit cheaper than last year once FPL towers realise Mark Hughes isn't as defensive as Pulis was..

If I was playing Football Manager and I had a 25 man squad for Utd this is what it would be:

    De Gea/Lindegaard/Amos

    Coleman/Rafael Jones/Smalling Vermaelen/Evans Shaw/Evra

    Strootman/Carrick/Fletcher Kroos/Fellaini

    Reus/Nani Mata/Kagawa Januzaj/Konoplyanka

    RVP/Rooney/Welbeck

This would probably cost 150mil but you could generate 50mil in sales and also there has been big earners off the books this year.

        Kroos - 25

    a. Messi (v Iran)
    b. Robben (v Australia)
    c. Benzema (v Switzerland)

I already have Di Maria and RVP. Only other Frenchman is Evra.

    FPL

    Being a 2 + 3 cheap rotating defence man myself, I think I have spotted a decent cheap(ish) 3-way rotation already:

    Palace, QPR and Leicester

    Gives an opening run of:

HUL WHM SUN BUR STO LEI BUR

Nice one I like it. Don't think Palace will be cheap enough to rotate though, at least 5 if not 5.5.

The fact that Sporting outscored me in Maccy D just shows what a circus this fantasy game is.

Have all betting sites now stopped taking bets on MOTM or are there still some taking stakes?

Sorry I got called into a meeting. Looks as though Bet365 have now stopped.
