The Fantasy Football Scout Leagues Round Up

With this weekend’s fixture schedule dedicated to the FA Cup Fifth Round, we’re afforded time to assess the leading contenders in the Fantasy Football Scout leagues across a variety of games. With leagues in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), Ultimate Fantasy Premier League,Sky Sports and Sun Dream Team, there’s plenty to catch up on.

FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Chris Rigden – who placed fourth in our last updateretained his spot at the summit following a lacklustre 39-point round. Jamie Vardy, Harry Kane and Mesut Ozil delivered the goods, while Charlie Daniels justified his selection with an assist. Chris’ decision to hand Sergio Aguero the captain’s armband ultimately saw him drop below the Gameweek average of 41.

By virtue of a massive 79-point Gameweek, Ahmed Essam propelled himself into second place in our Scout League. Aside from his masterstroke in captaining Dimitri Payet (26 points), Ahmed profited from the double-figure hauls of Christian Eriksen (10) and Willian (13). At the back, Cesar Azpilicueta and Daniels bolstered his total with assists.

Craig Ward muscled into the top three with 55 points in the previous wave of fixtures. He opted for a 3-5-2 set-up, deploying a five-man midfield that comprised of Roberto Firmino (captain – 12 points), Payet, Ozil, Dele Alli and Riyad Mahrez. Although none of his defenders mustered more than two points, Fraser Forster came up trumps with a clean sheet.

Mustafa Eren Keçeci maintained his grip on fourth position with 46 points. His decision to captain Odion Ighalo against Crystal Palace didn’t pay off, but solid returns from Payet, Ozil and Kane kept him afloat.

In the wake of a 35-point outing, Ciaran Treacy slipped to fifth. Blanks from Alexis Sanchez, Ross Barkley, Mahrez, Aguero, Ighalo and a captained Romelu Lukaku found him dropping out of the top 50 in the global rankings.

To join this league use the code: 600-520

FPL MEMBERS SCOUT LEAGUE

Andrew Dougan enjoys a one-point lead at the top of our Member’s League. Playing Alberto Moreno over Toby Alderweireld proved to be an astute call, but Aguero’s blank undermined his captaincy selection.

Despite the fact that only four of James Ollerenshaw’s players produced attacking returns and he benched Vardy, Payet’s 26 points as captain contributed to a 57-point Gameweek.

Ralf Buckenmaier dropped one place after notching 49 points. Virgil van Dijk, Payet, Ozil and Firmino were his star performers, but a strike partnership of Wayne Rooney and Aguero failed to hit the mark.

Akin to Ralf’s Gameweek, Euan Thompson had the likes of Payet and Firmino, and Fraser Forster’s shut-out, to thank for his respectable 45-point showing.

Rounding off the top five, Brian Moss correctly benched Alli and Eric Dier en route to 55 points, plumping for a midfield that included Ozil, Firmino and Payet.

ULTIMATE FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE

Dominic Nelson heads up the field in our Ultimate Fantasy Premier League table, having pushed up to 1890 points (13th in the global rankings) with a 63-point Gameweek. Sean Tobin leads the chasing pack with a total score of 1883 following a 59-point haul last weekend.

Sultan Osman steered himself into the top three after producing 81 points, placing him two points shy (1881) of Sean’s total. Meanwhile, there’s nothing to separate Michael Wong and Mateusz Grzadzielewski; the latter racked up three more points than the former (62 compared to 59) last Gameweek, but both men are neck and neck on 1874 points.

To join this league, use the code: 1258-516.

SKY SPORTS FANTASY FOOTBALL

Having amassed 182 more points than the second-placed David Browne (1692), it would take something special to prevent Alan Wood (1874) from securing the gold medal. Cathal Jordan – who’s just one point ahead (1675) of fourth place – completes the top three in our Scout League.

Positioned first in the league of leagues, we’re on pace to retain our crown. To join this league use the league name: FFScout and the code: 8009000

SUN DREAM TEAM

Jonathan Bancroft is the manager to beat in our Scout League (1585 points). Harry Kane (224 points) has been his main man throughout the course of the campaign, while Eriksen and Firmino are newer acquisitions that delivered last time out. Wayne Rooney’s injury has thrown a spanner in the works, though.

David O Byrne is breathing down Jonathan’s with 1577 points so far this term. Daley Blind’s 161 points have set the foundation for a strong back line, with all five members breaching the 100-point barrier. A 51-point gap has opened up between David and the third-placed Charles Mouzon (1526), who’s forward line of Aguero, Costa and Kane is capable of bridging that deficit.

Sitting just four points being Charles, Yiadom Yeboah (1523) is commandeering a well-balanced team includes both of Arsenal’s starting full-backs. Tim Mongiat and Jeff Payne share the honours in fifth place (both 1515 points). The former’s decision to field three Spurs players in his front six could pay dividends this Gameweek, while the latter could suffer from Aguero’s blank and Rooney’s injury.

Ramsey is better in the attack mode but very suspect positionally when defending without the ball. Was surprised by this myself.

Quite realistic for England to reach the QF's. Top the group (which they should) get drawn against a lesser team in the last 16...through to the QF's.

              I agree with 4.

Like I said, level par with Belgium and Portugal.

(I personally don't think Belgium gel as much as a team as they should, but I expect to get grief for this)

Ye are probably pretty level with Portugal alright, but they have Ronaldo as a talisman that could pull something out of nothing (if he showed up).

With regards to Belgium, they don't gel as much as a team as they should, and ye have better full backs, but England don't gel too much either and are hampered by Woy imo.

Belgium friendly against Italy showed that they are great quality. Nevertheless, Carrasco was the one running the show.

this, Belgium have a lot of individual talent that if they turn up can turn a game around/

England have lost the likes of Gerrard and Lampard and don't really have match winners anymore. Rooney used to be like that but has lost it. Maybe Sturridge if he keeps his fitness up

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying we would definitely beat Belgium, Portugal (or even Ireland!). But there are only 3 teams in the tournament IMO that are a class above England's level.

I disagree, better team chemistry and better individuals.

They're not that much better, but they're better. They also have much better international form at tournaments, if that counts for anything.

          The first 4.

I'd say we are definitely on a level par with Belgium and Portugal and I'd be disappointed if we went out Austria or Croatia.

possibly with Italy, although their recent better performances in tournaments would put them ahead for me. Belgium I think have better players but not a huge amount of experience at tournaments (but perhaps that is good? Since in the case of England it is only bad experiences). Austria - I think could be surprise packages

100%, absolutely no doubt that those players would grab the chance to knock England out of a tournament with both hands, feet, teeth, earlobes, arsecheeks and anything they can grab with..

                      England would be all like..
"Oh it's only those savages from across the water.. Let's show them how it's done.."

And then Ireland would run out screaming like crazy children on cocaine. And win 4-0.

I want them to play 4-3-3 with Walcott, Vardy and Sterling up top. That would mean something.

Yes, I think so.. Still don't have a player as good as Rooney. Even if he's not 1st choice striker now, I'd still prefer him in either the hole or CM over any of the other options.. He's still a different class to the rest I think.. Barkley, Alli etc all great prospects but completely unproven.

well he has played against them, just not scored against them much, including all but 1 of his world cup matches.

Good for a friendly goal or one or 2 against pot 5,6,7,8 teams tho in qualifying.

England don't play elite teams much at all.

Lineker scored most of his goals against those sorts of teams too.

As I say, a nonsense argument.

Rooney is not the best ever goalscorer England have had, and has benefitted from the fact that they play more games these days.

But to just write off his achievement as scoring against poor teams is a really poor argument.

I'm not totally writing it off, it flatters him is all.

He's scored 1 less than John-Dahl Tommasson, who scored more in international tournements (although they qualified for around half the number England did). He's not held up as one of the best players of his international generation.

Other players to have scored more international goals; Jan Koller (55), Landon Donovan (57), Hossam Hassan (68), and many many more.

It flatters every International striker we've had in the modern era, so judging things in relative terms, it doesn't flatter him.

You can bring up all the names you want - to score as many as he has done for England as he has is a great achievement, and I'm not really sure what you're trying to prove.

Remember, he's also well on his way to being leading scorer for Man Utd, which kind of makes the rest of your stats look a bit silly.

he's been a very good player for a long period of time. I wasn't questioning his club record. Just that he was a (relevant) failure at international tournaments - which he is.

It's a sweeping statement that just sounds like a silly dig, rather than a credible point.

there are caveats, but I was also looking at lists of games where he has played (especially in world cups) and not scored.

It's a credible point. Here in the Netherlands players with better tournament records, like RVP, get criticized more than Rooney does in England.

Yes, I'm sure he would like to have done better.

was just joking - normally I'm the first to bang this drum about football existing before 1992, especially the European Cup!

As is the case with all of these clubs, the fans are getting what they deserve with the 'sack the manager' mentality, all the best clubs maintain a consistent philosophy throughout the club, how they want to play, how they develop young players, etc, a new manager every 6 months bringing major changes to the playing style, coaching staff, and playing staff will never bring long term success, although admittedly will usually help with short term results (10 games or so)

So you mean sack the manager in 10 weeks is the best way to go ? I agree

If fighting relegation, then I think history tells us that a change of manager will likely improve you're recent results, depending on the manager available.

But Newcastle and Aston Villa are long established PL clubs who have, or at least did have, a clear identity, and style of play, the board need to find a manager who fits the clubs style and back them.

Man United are a giant of world football, and this situation should never have happened, LVG is not suited to the club, it's as obvious as Alladyce not being suited to West Ham, or Benitez to Real Madrid.

There was someone on here complaining about the site being 60 % drivel there is no way he is talking about you 😉 . I think collectively we are responsible for a fair amount of the drivel being posted on this site 🙂
