Eliteserien Fantasy- A New Game From the Developers of FPL

Did you think your summer would be dull without fantasy football? Fear not. The developers of Fantasy Premier League have launched a brand new game called Eliteserien Fantasy.

The game will feature the Norwegian top divison. The site is currently only in Norwegian but it is fairly easy to register and use if you are used to FPL.

The concept and rules are the same as FPL, the only differences being no chips and there’s a  ‘man in the stand’  for bonus points.

The season will have 30 Gameweeks between April and November. A third of the season will be played during the off-season in FPL so this game could soften the summer blow for Fantasy Footy junkies.

Already 58 players have  joined the FFS league, including FPL legend Ville Rönkä. The league code is: 3769-1041

In this article I will take a look at the 16 teams and the players to keep an eye on.

Rosenborg

Having won ‘the double’ two seasons in a row, there is no doubt who is the gigantic fish in this pond. Both league titles have been comfortable with a tally of 69 points, an average of staggering 2.3 points per game. The Rosenborg domination is set to continue with the acquisition of Nicklas Bendtner (12.5). Not only is the insane Dane the most expensive player in the game, he currently also sits in over half the teams.

Mixed results and a few injuries during the pre season, there remains uncertainty around the form of their key players. Rosenborg meet Brann in a face off between last year’s top two teams on March 29. This may give us some answers, or pose more questions as it will be the first of four games Rosenborg play in 10 days. This fixture congestion could be a good reason to overlook the pricey Bendtner for now.

Top 3 targets: Mike Jensen (10.5 MID), Fredrik Midtsjo (8.5 MID), Nicklas Bendtner (12.5 FWD)

Brann

After a shock relegation despite being title contenders in 2014, Brann bounced straight back up the following year. They used that momentum and enjoyed a successful return to the top division, eventually finishing second. Brann’s excellent defence is expected to do well this season as well, especially as Piotr Leciejewski (5.5) might be the best goalkeeper in the league. Early investment in Brann players could pay dividends as their opening few fixtures seem favourable.

Top 3 targets: Fredrik Haugen (9.0 MID), Vito Wormgoor (5.5 DEF), Torgeir Børven (9.0 FWD)

Odd

Starting last season with six consecutive clean sheets, Odd laid the foundations for what turned out to be a third place finish and Europa League qualification. The last 24 games only saw three additional clean sheets but Odd will nonetheless provide excellent defensive options. Espen Ruud (6.5) might prove to be the most essential player in the game. To go along with his nine clean sheets, the right back also managed five goals and eight assists last season.

Top 3 targets: Espen Ruud (6.5 DEF), Fredrik Nordkvelle (9.0 MID), Sondre Rossbach (5.5 GK)

Haugesund

Expect the unexpected when Haugesund are playing. One season they battle for the Europa League places, the next they fight for survival. Given they finished fourth last season, this year their assets may be best avoided! Defensively Haugesund are not much to write home about. Their midfielders have to bear the burden if they are to replicate last year’s form.

Top 3 targets: Haris Hajradinovic (7.5 MID), Erik Huseklepp (8.5 MID), Ibrahim Shuaibu (5.0 FWD)

Molde

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s second period as Molde manager has failed to reach the heights of his first stint at the club thus far. Back then he led Molde to back-to-back titles, whilst his latest reign has resulted in 6th and 5th placed finishes. With a wealth of options in every position, picking the right Molde players could be a minefield. Solskjær’s preferred tactic seems to be resting players from time to time. Heavy investment in Molde’s assets is probably best avoided to start with.

Top 3 targets: Bjorn Sigurdarson (9.0 FWD), Sander Svendsen (8.5 MID), Mattias Mostrom (6.5 MID)

Sarpsborg

A stable mid table team for the last couple of seasons, Sarpsborg normally go about their business quietly. They do not concede many but they do not score that many either. In fact, their most prolific attacker finished 40th in terms of attacking returns last season. Big things are therefore expected of the attacking minded Krepin Diatta (6.0), an easy on the eye Senegalese U20 international who arrived last month. A Sarpsborg defender could be a must have as they managed 13 clean sheets in the last campaign, with nine of them coming on home soil.

Top 3 targets: Krepin Diatta (6.0 MID), Sigurd Rosted (5.5 DEF), Jonas Lindberg (5.5 FWD)

Strømsgodset

After being a top side since the beginning of the decade, Strømsgodset found themselves finishing mid table last season. They produce fluent attacking play and are a joy to watch, especially at home. Jonathan Parr (6.0) provides us with a potential OOP option. Listed as a defender, the former Crystal Palace and Ipswich left back played a lot on the left wing last autumn. The signing of the experienced left back Stian Ringstad (5.5) could mean a permanent shift to the wing for Parr.

Top 3 targets: Jonathan Parr (6.0 DEF), Marcus Pedersen (10.5 FWD), Lars Vilsvik (6.0 DEF)

Viking

There is not much buzz around Viking at the moment. Kwesi Appiah (7.0) has been signed on loan from Crystal Palace. Despite only being 26, this will be the striker’s sixteenth club in his senior career. Whether he can settle in and finally make it count remains to be seen. With an unfavourable set of fixtures to start the season, overlooking Viking options for the opening might be the best solution.

Top 3 targets: Kwesi Appiah (7.0 FWD), Julian Ryerson (4.5 DEF) Samuel Adegbenro (7.5 MID)

Aalesund

Highest goalscorer from last season still in the league this term is Mos (8.5). He will undoubtably be key this year as well but he is not the only threat Aalesund pose. Most of their goals in the pre season have come from set pieces. Centre back Mantyla has scored three goals without even starting a game but it is another centre back stealing the limelight. Daniel Gretarsson (5.0) has also scored three goals from his four starts this winter. However, Aalesund do concede a lot of goals so any defensive investment has to be purely because of their set piece threat.

Top 3 targets: Mos (8.5 FWD), Edwin Gyasi (7.5 MID), Daniel Gretarsson (5.0 DEF)

Vålerenga

Being the only representation from the capital, Vålerenga have failed to live up to expectations for a good few years. This season they have hired the services of former Celtic manager Ronny Deila. An attacking minded leader, Deila made his name at Strømsgodset where he took the team to league glory in 2013. After years of struggle to get permission and finances to build their own stadium on their side of the city, Vålerenga will finally be moving to their new home mid season. This will likely give them a solid boost throughout the season.

Top 3 targets: Ghayas Zahid (10.5 MID), Mohammed Abdellaoue (9.5 FWD), Markus Nakkim (5.0 DEF)

Sogndal

Gilbert Koomson (7.5) was the only assister in the league to reach double figures last season. However, that is a steep price tag for a player in a team that most likely will be in for a relegation battle. Sogndal had a good defence last season but the latest results in pre season do not exactly look encouraging. Still, if they can replicate some of that defensive form then they have several decent budget options in their team.

Top 3 targets: Matias Dyngeland (4.5 GK), Bjørn Utvik (4.5 DEF), Gilbert Koomson (7.5 MID)

Lillestrøm

Celebrating their 100 years anniversary, Lillestrøm will be hoping they avoid the dogfight this time around. They were dead and buried with five games to play but managed to survive by collecting 11 points from those games. Most of the players are very generously priced, probably reflected by last year’s finish. Lillestrøm should be competing for a place in the upper half of the table. If they manage to do that then there are a few potential bargains in their squad. Daniel Fernandes (4.0) has impressed in pre season, if he can nail done a starting spot then that provides us with an excellent budget goalkeeper.

Top 3 targets: Daniel Fernandes (4.0 GK), Bajram Ajeti (6.5 FWD), Chigozie Udoji (6.0 MID)

Tromsø

Defensively Tromsø are not a good unit. The onus will be on their attacking play. People will recognise Morten Gamst Pedersen (5.5) from his time at Blackburn. After struggling with injuries last season, the set piece specialist is set to claim a place in the centre of midfield. Some calmness in the middle of the park may be exactly what Tromsø need as their passing accuracy of 68.7 % was the worst in the league.

Top 3 targets: Aron Sigurdarson (6.5 MID), Sloboan Vuk (7.0 FWD), Morten Gamst Pedersen (5.5 MID)

Stabæk

Stabæk were favourites to go down in 2015 but thanks to the heroics of Bob Bradley they managed to finish third. During that summer they lost top scorer Adama Diomande to Hull, whilst Bradley left before the 2016 season. Stabæk barely recovered from those losses and somehow just about managed to survive. They are in for another tough season but they do have a couple of cheap prospects to keep an eye on.

Top 3 targets: Moussa Njie (5.5 MID), Luc Kassi (6.0 MID), Hanche-Olsen (4.5 DEF)

Kristiansund

Thirteen years after the club was formed, Kristiansund won the second tier and gained promotion to the top division for the first time. The promotion campaign was thanks to a good defence and a red hot striker. Daouda Bamba (6.5) scored 20 and assisted twice in 28 games. The Ivorian is young and fearless, and is sure to be amongst the goals also in this league.

Top 3 targets: Daouda Bamba (6.5 FWD), Aliou Coly (4.5 DEF), Sean McDermott (4.0 GK)

Sandefjord

Also gaining promotion prior to this season, Sandefjord are favourites to go straight back down. Genuine fantasy options are therefore far and few between, however they might provide a couple of bench fodder options. Seven defeats and no clean sheets in nine pre season games tells they are in for a very rough ride.

Top 3 targets: Erik Mjelde (6.0 MID), Andre Sødlund (4.5 MID), Flamur Kastrati (6.0 FWD)

Someone mentioned that this is way over the number of players in the MLS fantasy game? It's incredible how much attention this has gotten!

I'm honestly looking forward to it. It's going to be a great experience. A nice deviation from FPL

This is the first season of Bundesliga's official fantasy game and that had about 50k signed up when season started. Norwegian league almost matching that just shows how big fantasy footy is in Norway.

        There's a MLS fantasy? 😉

Was expecting an even bigger interest to be honest. Even TV2's lousy game in the past seasons used to get 20k+ players. I think if TV2 still had the tv rights we would have 50k already.

MLS had around 100,000 players last year. I haven't bothered with it this year as they've introduced unlimited transfers, so basically you get to pick a whole new team every week. Too much like hard work.

Poor show from all 4 of Rosenborg's 10m+ attackers (despite Lord getting the assist).

    I'm going with Hedenstad+Midtsjø only.

I've been on Sander Svendsen and Mos for a couple of days now, looking at switching them to Andersen and Sigurdarson. Who'd you prefer?

  7. Niemi

Midtsjø was slighly more advanced than Jensen. With Hedenstad on set pieces as well Jensen won't be on many of them. Can't justify the 2.0 difference. Helland looked off pace when he came on. Bendtner didn't do anything, but will surely get some points. I think I'll pass for now.

Hedenstad had a fair share of set pieces and could easily had an assist. Essential IMO, at least as long as Meling isn't starting.

Wouldn't touch any Brann players. Defender could be good, but not essential at that price.

I think we're on the same page. I'm on Midtsjø and Hedenstad myself atm. However I still feel that I need to be ready to respond if Helland and Bendtner start firing..

I also agree with your previous comments on overpriced Brann players, can't see a reason for paying 9.0 for Børven or Haugen. Their defence should still be worth something though. They have one of the best goalkeepers in the league, so someone like Wormgoor should do well.

      1. Niemi
        • 9 Years

Yeah, defensively they should be pretty sound with Wormgoor coming back. Hopefully Nouri can get his place back in the team despite him rejecting a new contract. He was great when he came on and Rosenborg struggled to handle him. Easily one of Brann's best player and would be my pick if he was nailed on.

I'll get Hedenstad and Midtsjø, so I'll have room for either Bendtner or Helland.

          Thanks for the insight.
I also noticed that Acosta got a yellow, so if he's that much of a card magnet as you say I'll definitely be avoiding him. Nouri could be one to keep an eye on though.

He picked up 4 yellow cards in 20 matches last year. It's not that much, but he has been sent off once each of the last three seasons. Can be a bit hotheaded at times.

Brann signed a new Icelandic right back that supposed to be decent (plays for the national team), so I'm not sure Nouri will get his place back. He rejected a new contract (it's expiring after the season) and wants a move, so that's why he's been benched.

Based on what you said about Lillestrom and Stromsgodset defences. What do you think of this plan?

      - Wormgoor to Mikalsen (Good goal threat)
      - Rosted to Vilsvik/Parr (Which one?)
      - Haugen to 8.5 (Who? Other mids are Midtsjo/Koomson/Nordkvelle/Johansen. Rest of team is on previous page)
      - Fernandes to Dyngeland (to not double-up on Lillestrom defence)

      1. Niemi
        • 9 Years
        7 years, 26 days ago

I don't think I said anything about Lillestrøm and Strømsgodset defences, if it's me your referring to?

        My opinion in general:

        - Strømsgodset underperformed last year. Will they be back at their best? I'm not sure. They start the season with some good fixtures. Vilsvik is a good prospect. Very attacking. Parr might be OOP in some matches. Hard to say who to get, but I'm currently on Vilsvik.

        - Lillestrøm got a new coach with 6 matches remaining. He's more defensive minded than previous coaches, so we could see more clean sheets from them this year. Wouldn't double up yet though. I own both Fernandes and Dyngeland as my keepers. To be honest I don't have much knowledge on Lillestrøms defenders.

        - Brann are a destructive, defensively minded team. The problem is I'm not sure who to pick. Wormgoor injury doubt, Acosta likes a card (Wormgoor seems to pick up a few cards as well). None of them a big goal threath. Kristiansen isn't a good attacking full back. As I said above I would get Nouri if he was nailed on, but he isn't due to him rejecting a contract.

I currently own Hedenstad, Ruud, Vilsvik, Albeck (value pick from Sarpsborg, but not 100% nailed in the long run I think) and Moe (4.0 most likely starter).

Who to get at 8.5 is hard to say. I'm not even sure myself. Consider Svendsen or Andersen/Nguen, but they might not be starting every match. Adegbenro could be a good pick if he's fit. Personally I would want Zahid in there, but he's costing 10.5.

        1. UnitedFan

          Thanks 😉

I think I'll follow that plan. Even if Brann keep a lot of clean sheets, Mikalsen off Lillestrom is apparently a big attacking threat so he might even it out and be better value. And I'm not doubling up as I'm doing Fernandes to Dyngeland. I'm left with no Brann players then. Would that worry you since they're one of the dominant teams? Or are they just not worth their prices anyway?

For an 8.5 mid, Team Cruel suggested Keita. He recommended Valerenga attacking cover. Is he a good shout and is he nailed?

Wouldn't worry, but would keep an eye on them. They are not really a dominant team, they were newly promoted last year when they came 2nd! In 2014 they got in a new coach who where saying they could win the title, instead they got relegated. Won the league in 2007 though.

Could be a decent shout, but Zahid is the main man in midfield and Abdellaoue is the goal scorer. I'd wait and see, but he could be a cut price alternative to Zahid and Moa (Abdellaoue) if he hits form. Unpredictable player.

4 goals and 2 assists in 13 games for Strømsgodset and 3 goals and 1 assist in 9 games for Stabæk. Not 100% sure he'll start every match at the start of the season, he just joined them. I'd get Zahid or Moa in there from the start. It's kind of like getting Pedro/Willian instead of Hazard or Costa.

Ah I see. Maybe I'll consider doing this:

Dyngeland > Fernandes and Mikalsen > Utvik (start him every week).

That would give me 1.0 to do Mos > Moa. Not sure if I'll do it but I'll consider it

We'll know more in the coming days I think.

Will they bench Nouri the whole season? No, I don't think so. Will he start every match? No, I don't think so. It will depend on how good Vidar Ari Jonsson is. I won't touch Nouri for now. Kristiansen is the safe pick at 5,5. Very much nailed on. I don't think he's good in attack, but at least he picked up 2 assists last season.

They are an unpredictable team. He scored 13 in 29 last season (7 in the last 7), which is decent, but only 6 in 26 the season before. He was the top scorer in 2011 though with 17 goals, so he certainly knows how to score

Maybe the moves I posted above would be the best thing to do? They would give me the 1.0 I need to do Mos > Moa.

      Latest draft

      Dyngeland - Fernandes
      Hedenstad - Ruud - Vilsvik - (Albeck) - Moe
      Zahid - Midtsjø - Koomson - (Adegbenro) - (4.5 bench fodder)
Pedersen - Moa Abdellaoue - Shuiabu

I'm thinking 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 most matches. Decisions to make the next days:
      - Albeck or someone else at 5.0 (or stretch to 5.5)?
      - Will Adegbenro be fit? Should I downgrade and upgrade my 4.5 bench fodder (or Albeck)?
      - If I go with a 4.5 bench fodder, who's the best pick? Valles has supposedly started the last 3 matches for Sandefjord, but I don't have much knowledge about the potential 4.5 starters. Sødlund seems to be out of the team.

Keepers are good. Instead of Albeck, you could consider Mikalsen who I was talking about earlier or Gretarsson (4 goals in last 5 friendlies). They're both 5.0. Someone said Valles is a defensive mid. Maybe Johansen can be a 4.5 bench fodder? Are you not worried about Bendtner's owenership?

I just feel like 5.0 for a defender from Lillestrøm or Aalesund is too much. Mikalsen produced well as a left back last year, but I'm not sure if he's too much of a threat as he is playing as a center back currently.

Yeah, he is. Johansen isn't a starter as far as I know and hasn't been the last two seasons. Not been producing great numbers either and as a 32 year old I can't see that changing.

And regarding Bendtner: Yes, I'm kind of worried. Just too many question marks right now for a 12,5 player, but he'll be in my team as soon as he starts producing.

Fair enough on Bendtner. Would you say Wormgoor is better value at 5.5 than Mikalsen is at 5.0? Or is there anybody else you'd recommend at 5.0?

He is nailed on at least. Some good picks at 5.5.

                Rosted at Sarpsborg
                Wormgoor/Kristiansen at Brann
                Lundstrøm at Vålerenga

Lundstrøm would be my pick if Vålerenga tighten up this year. 6 assists in 20 matches last year.

Hard to say. As I said above Tippeligaen is pretty unpredictable. On paper I'd say Albeck is the best pick at 5.0. Sarpsborg were unexpectedly tight last year, but I'm not sure if they can do as well this year. Maybe there are another team tightening up this year. There are no nailed on defenders from any of the top teams at 5.0, except for maybe Nakkim at Vålerenga (if they don't sign a new CB) and Albeck (if you count Sarpsborg as a top team).

Thanks. Another question if you don't mind 😉 I think I'll get in Zahid due to your previous advice. That means I'll get rid of Mos to a 6.5 or 6.0? Maybe Bamba? Apparently he has tough fixtures to start with though, but should come good later on. Who would you recommend at 6.0 or less? Going that cheap would give me the 2.0 to do Keita > Zahid and also leave enough to upgrade Lorenthzen (who might not be nailed?) to Shuaibu as bench fodder. That means I'm going 442.

He plays for a small team, I wouldn't expect much. I'm going with Shuiabu as I expect him to start and is great value at 5.0. I rate him up there with the 6.5 players, but there are loads of players at 6.0-6.5 who could do well. Omoijuanfo, Ajeti, Bamba, Lindberg (5.5), Malec, Espejord (6.0) and Ramsland. Bit of a lottery really, so I went with the value pick.

Lindberg was my pick until Sarpsborg signed a new Swedish "prolific" striker (not added to the game yet), so I don't think he is nailed on although he should start the first game at least.

How about going with starting Lindberg and Bendtner with Shuaibu on the bench to fund the above moves. Best picks/value seems to be in the midfield and defence so going 442 with those strikers might work?

Downgrade Adegbenro (Krogstad/Udoji?), upgrade Shuiabu (Lehne Olsen/Omoijuanfo?) ?

Krogstad on free kicks/corners. Goals in preseason. Scored well on loan at Ullensaker/Kisa last season (but only 1G/1A in 2015 for Lillestrøm - may have been maturing into role though).Udoji attacking mid new to Norway but history of goals. Don't know much else about him.

Olsen 8G/2A last season. Played every game. Omoijuanfo has pre-season form. 4G/2A last season.

But... you know rather a lot more about this than me.

Thanks for insight. I think I'll keep Shuiabu. He's been doing well this winter and is a starter for a good team. I think he's better value at 5.0 than the 6.0/6.5 picks and has scored a few in pre season.

I think I might go with a 5.5 defender, Njie instead of a 4.5 bench fodder and a 6.0 midfielder (Udoji is someone I'm considering).

A reflection on Rosenborg and how they will probably look through the first half of the season:

The expected starting XI (including rotation pairing):

              Hansen

              Hedenstad, Reginiussen, Skjelvik/Rasmussen, Gersbach/Meling

              Jensen - Konradsen - Midtsjø

              Helland - Bendtner - Jevtovic/Bakenga

This leaves Rashani as a backup for Helland, Lædre Bjørdal 4th in line at center back to cover for Reginiussen, Vilhjalmson the alround sub for any need, leaving the exciting bits as to what happens when De Lanlay is back over the summer, and an unknown quantity in the use of midfielder Lundemo once he is match fit. People will wonder about pairing Gersbach and Meling as rotation risks, the reasoning there is 2-fold, 1 Meling has not had a full pre-season and will be lacking in core fitness training, and 2 Meling's OoP posibility is golden with the weak bench covering the three sentral midfielders.

Not sure McDermott will be starting so I'd look to get a playing 4.5m keeper in there.

I'd also rather have a Rosenborg defender like Hedenstad instead of one of Vilsvik or Parr. Kippe is getting too old, and will probably not play as much this season, Simen Kind Mikalsen is a much better pick for them at that position, he's also scored a few this pre season. Granli won't be starting, but Jeppe Moe probably will, so get him in if you're looking for a cheap 4.0 Stabæk defender.

You might have to change out one of your RBK mids to get a defender. Helland is injury prone, so he might not be worth the price. Gyasi is a good pick at 7.5, but I think Koomson and Adegbenro are better picks at that price. You also already have Mos, so not sure I'd want to have them both. Perhaps just go for one of them. Pedersen might do well, but I'm personally not taking a chance this early on. Gashi doesn't start, so either trade him for another 4.5 mid who will (most likely Sødlund, but slim pickings in that bracket) or upgrade him to a 5.5m like Njie.

You're strikers are also good. As I said earlier, perhaps try to switch out one of Gyasi or Mos. Bamba did well last year, but it all depends on KBKs form whether he'll do well this season also.

                    Observations (maybe wrong):

Worth starting with Wormgoor if injured?
Apparently Helland gets injured quite a bit.
Is Njie a reliable 4th mid?
Ajeti has pre-season form, but 4G/1A last season was playing for Bryne and only got 9 games (not sure if that's due to transfer/other).
Fejzullahu signed for Sarpsborg - could be a problem for Lindberg.

                      - want a brann def, won't mind if wormgoor misses out 1 game
                      - at helland's price, finding a replacement in case of injury is easy
                      - njie will play only the first 3 weeks,I will wc in gw 4 and pick a more balanced team
                      - will rotate the 6.5 forwards on form and fixtures
                      - gw 4 wc will help to sort lindberg if not nailed
                      cheers,thanks for the input

We have seen so many times when a 1 game injury turns to a 2 game injury and so on. So I would not pick him unless he is actually fit.

Is haugen nailed to start for brann ? I see VG Lupen don't have him in the starting line-up

Is Midstjo a better option around this price if I have bendtner already
                  ?

Pretty sure I read he is (was?) nailed. But expensive.
I'm going with Midstjo and not Bendtner, but not sure about 'better'.

                      Couple of questions:

                      1) 3rd fwd: Lehne-Olsen had 8G/2A last season (4G in friendlies), but Omoijuanfo with 4G/2A last season has 6G in 9 pre-season. Anything else good/bad for either?

                      2) 4.5m mid: Only name I've seen mentioned as potentially nailed is Sorli with 2G pre-season. Heintz also had 2G in friendlies. Alternative is downgrade 3rd fwd, get Njie (another one with 2G pre-season) & maybe change formation?

                      Fernandes
                      Ruud Hedenstad Vilsvik
                      Midtsjo Zahid Koomson Udoji
                      Moa Pedersen Olsen/Omoijuanfo*

                      Dyngeland, Mikalsen*, Sorli*, Moe

rotate the third forward as per form and fixtures
not sure about a nailed 4.5 mid
have a plan for bendtner if he finds form?????

Bendtner plan quite hard due to price - probably Pedersen out and get really cheap 3rd fwd until wc.
But I really hope he flops.

                        Best defender for 5.0?

                        - Other defenders are Ruud - Hedenstad - Vilsvik - Moe
                        - Keepers are Fernandes and McDermott
                        - Currently on Mikalsen (Is he still playing as FB?), don't fancy Gretarsson.
                        - Or should I just get a 4.5 and use the cash to do McDermott > Dyngeland? Who for 4.5 can I start each week?

Kippe? Seems to get most games for LSK but little attacking potential it seems.
I read comment about Mikalsen's position, but personally going to risk it.

Is Mikalsen a LB playing CB in pre-season? I heard he still scored in a pre-season game so wouldn't be worried too much if he's playing as a CB.

                                        I wouldn't have a clue. He scored 2.

Was going to say Kippe might not be so bad. Pretty consistent team stalwart (age 39):

                                        2015: 1G/3A
                                        2014: 3G
                                        2013: 2G
                                        2012: 2G
                                        2011: 3G/1A
                                        2010: 7G/2A
                                        2009: 5G/2A

But seems he missed last game of the season (& maybe pre-season). Perhaps that's why Mikalsen has played CB in his place?

He has been put their defence is poor. I don't like relying just on attacking potential for defenders. Anyone other than Mikalsen you'd suggest? And has he been playing at CB recently? Why?

He has been playing CB in pre season because Kippe is out of the team and they have signed new full backs in Megalvis and Haakestad.

Yeah, just read that. The transfer is made.
Have also adjusted the team to fit in hedenstad:
                                    Fernandes/Dyngeland

Rest of team is this, currently on 4-3-3 but could change to 4-4-2

                                Fernandez - Dyngeland
Ruud Hedenstad Vilsvik Grétarsson - Moe
Nordkvelle Midtsjo Koomson - Njie (most nailed 4.5 I can find)
                                Bendtner Moa 6.5 Forward

Should I make my third striker Shuaibu? Gives me money to upgrade Njie to a 7.5, possibly Adegbenro if he's fit?

Good team. I'd get Shuaibu and upgrade Njie to someone esle anyway. Strengthen the midfield a bit. Fancy helping out above about best 5.0 defender? 😉

I'll say it here instead. I don't like Mikalsen and Fernandes both in my team, and Albeck not being nailed annoys me but it means I prefer Grétarsson for that price - plus he's a punty differential unlike the rest of my team which is mostly very template. (Template for the site anyway, my average player ownership is 15 % which isn't too mainstream considering Bendtner bringing that up)

Thamks. Fair enough on having both Fernandes and Mikalsen. Currently I'm taking the punt on that double-up as I don't have an alternative yet. It's just Aalesund's poor defence that puts me off Gretarsson

Pedersen or Moa. Both got goals pre-season, but probably Pedersen as Haugesund conceded more than Viking last season.

Pedersen. Already have the VIF double with Zahid and Moa so I think that's enough without captaincy.

Anyone with some insight available to offer an opinion here?

Kristiansen/Wormgoor – depending on injury (Brann) & Ryerson (VIK)
                                  OR
                                  Vilsvik (SIF) & Granli (Stabaek)

Already starting SIF keeper, so not sure about the double-up. However, Vilsvik seems like the better player in a vacuum. Already have Moe so this is for my 3rd & 5th defenders slot (Moe will be 4th). Other two defenders are Ruud & Hedenstad.

Moe is currently above Granli in the pecking order, for the same price and team. That being said, probably Vilsvik and Moe over Brann def and Ryerson, depends on the rest of your defence though.

Oh nvm didn't read that last paragraph at all. Sorry about that. No, I wouldn't want two 4.0 defenders especially if one is unlikely to play. If I was you I would probably downgrade the keeper and use the extra money to invest more in the defence. First option for sure.

I'd really advise you to go with a Rosenborg defender, Hedenstad in particular looks almost essential. Do Helland > Midtsjo. The former isn't worth the extra 2.5, especially as he's quite injury prone. Another transfer you could do could be Mortensen > Shuaibu. The latter move would give you the money to do Ryerson (who has bad fixtures) to Hedenstad. The former move allows you to do Albeck (who isn't 100% nailed) to Hedenstad. All in all, I'd recommend getting a Rosenborg defender and Midtsjo over Helland. Also consider Vilsvik over Parr. Both are good pick though, so it's just something to consider. I haven't heard much about Kiss, is he any good?

                                      1) Helland is set to be on all set pieces (not PKs) so has to have the upper hand.
                                      2) Parr OOP > Vilsvik
                                      3) Mortensen>Shuaibu
                                      4) Kiss is my differential 😉

                                        1) Still not worth the extra imo. I'll warn you again about his injury proness 🙂
                                        2) Fair enough, good pick too
                                        3) True, but you already have expensive other strikers and need to find cash to get a Rosenborg defender
                                        4) Nice, anything particularly appealing about him?

                                            Hansen
                                            Hedenstad - Reginiussen - Skjelvik/Rasmussen - Meling/Gerbarch

                                            Helland - Bendtner - Bakenga

Jevtovic/Rashani/Vilhjalmson will get some gametime in the front 3. Not sure who's first choice at CB long term out of Skjelvik and Rasmussen. Meling will probably take over the LB spot during the season.

I don't personally. Though I think I saw someone who knows this league post a likely lineup. He was sure of Hedenstad being starters in defence. There was uncertainty over the others. I don't think Reitan was in there. They play a 433 with Midtsjo and Jensen playing on each side of someone else in the midfield 3. Then the front 3 is Hellend - Bendtner - Jevtovic/Bakenga

I didn't catch the whole Brann-game, but Rosenborg attack with so many players that Midstjo was often as advanced as the wingers. They also have weaker coverage at midfield making Midtsjo more likely to play all games. Helland is still a good option, but the price is too much for me from the start. Hedenstad will take the set pieces which are better suited for right foot.

He is a young RB that played 3 matches last year (late when they were cruising the league). Took 1 penalty. Won't start and certainly isn't second in line for PKs.

Thanks! Do you have a predicted line up?

                                        Hansen
                                        Hedenstad - Reginiussen - Skjelvik/Rasmussen - Meling/Gerbarch
                                        Midtsjø - Konradsen - Jensen
                                        Helland - Bendtner - Bakenga

Jevtovic/Rashani/Vilhjalmson will get some gametime in the front 3. Not sure who's first choice at CB long term out of Skjelvik and Rasmussen. Meling will probably take over the LB spot during the season.

Are the times on the website GMT or Norwegian time? So is the deadline 5:00 GMT or something else? Same for the kick-off times

                                    Deadline 4:00 GMT.

Grand. So basically every time is 1 hour back GMT

After more research into Norwegian football than I ever thought likely to do this time last month, my current team is:

Origi & Fernandes (to be assured of Brann GK coverage)
                                  Ruud Kristiansen Hedenstad (Ryerson Moe)
                                  Zahid Midtsjo Koomson Okland (Sorli)
                                  Bendtner Pedersen Shuaibu

                                  I feel like I'm a little top-heavy - any suggested moves?

And to those who know far more than I, are there better 4.5 DEF and MID options than Ryerson and Sorli?

Hate to break it to you... Fernandez and Origi don't play for Brann... Yeah Bendtner + Pedersen is really draining your funds but I like your team in general. I personally wouldn't play both Shuaibu and Okland.

Sorry, that's a brain fart on my part. I've been looking at these team names for too long today...

And thanks for the feedback - I'll take another spin.

Maybe downgrade Pedersen and upgrade Okland. Utvik > Ryerson as a 4.5 defender imo, the former has tough initial fixtures. Coly is another 4.5 defender you can consider. Those GKs play for Lillestrom.

Sorry, Ryerson has tough initial fixtures, not Utvik
