Dugout Discussion – Brighton vs Man City

Saturday’s events end on the south coast as Brighton make their Premier League debut and bid to follow the example set by Huddersfield Town following their victory at Palace.

But the Seagulls face a daunting task, with Premier League favourites Manchester City the visitors to the Amex Stadium.

Pep Guardiola’s men are bristling with prime Fantasy talent with Kevin De Bruyne owned by 31.6% of FPL managers in midfield, while both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero – owned by 13.4 and 11.4% respectively – start up front for City.

That trio are the first big captain assets in action today, with Aguero backed by 5.9% of managers with the armband, while De Bruyne is the skipper for 4.7% of managers and Jesus 4.3%.

In contrast, Brighton are something of a non-event from a Fantasy perspective. Their most popular assets – Uwe Hünemeier and Liam Rosenior are both owned as 4.0 enablers, while Anthony Knockeart – present in 2.3% of squads – joins them on the bench following a recent injury.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    4-4-2 worked well this week and could be my template for a while.

    Allows me 5 big hitters and not too much spread of value if I need to react.

    What're other people doing formation wise?

          I hear he looked good but Mounie looked bang tidy. And Huddersfield really went for it (Palace were terrible tbf). I just think Mounie's much more likely to thrive than Jrod playing for negative tony pulis

              Well they've got an amazing run of fixtures then things stiffen up in GW7. At that point I can reassess if I want to keep. And yeah I'll be playing him most weeks and potentially switching to 4-4-2 depending on fixtures.

    Not especially impressed with the live interface on the FPL Draft site. We're running a head to head league and there isn't a running update of the scores nor can you view anyone else's team. Bit rubbish really.

      Its rubbish. Playing in a H2H league as well and not being able to see my opponents scores is terrible.

      There should be a Transaction History for the whole league as well so you can see what transfers people have made with waivers/free agents. Yesterday I spent a good bit of time doing detective work to see what moves my upcoming opponent had made between the draft and the GW going live. Surely in a Draft League info on transactions is paramount.

        Exactly. I had to scour my opponent's team in the draft room to work out his best possible score but I still can't guarantee he hasn't made any transactions since the draft.

          On Friday to see if my opponent had done any transactions I looked up each player he drafted in in the Transactions section. One of his defenders was marked as 'Locked' instead of with his initials. Took a little more digging but I could see he had brought someone in to match up with one of my defenders. It was a long process but allowed me to make some calculated moves of my own. There really shouldn't be any need for detective work to figure this stuff out.

    I'm tempted to do JRod > Mounie not purely out of kneejerk, but watching the Palace match today you can tell that Huddersfield are set up to go for it, so I can see Mounie grabbing plenty more goals and assists than JRod playing for negative nancy Pulis

    Last year was my 2nd year playing this game and I had better season than the one before...
    You never know, this year might be even better!!!

    The best advice anyone gave me as a virgin player was:
    1) Save your Chips
    2) Unless forced through injury, try not to make any single transfers.

    Hopefully someone somewhere will benefit from the same advise 🙂

      He was playing off to the left but darting in constantly--very similar to best games last year, including theatrical falls and a talk from the referee to shut up and stop begging for calls. He did look more focused after that. But no points despite being the biggest threat.

    I really dont understand the love shown for Palace, even prior to today's result... They are bang average.
    Tekkers chips in with goals here & there but isn't a game changer.
    Zaha is extremely frustrating, if you scored for pointless tricks he'd be essential.

    Just needed to get that off my chest.

        Yeah for sure. My thinking is that I can get him later - doesn't seem to be something people are super keen on (I got him and dropped him already for Kyle Walker-Pieters just for this week and nobody has gone for him).
