Ive been keeping tabs on the HOF top 5 plus Villa Ronke this season and 5 of the 6 have held onto Lukaku through his barren spell. Poor fixtures, poor form (by gw 10 at least), losing value, poor underlying stats (hes not even on the goals imminent table!). But these guys are a lot better at this game than most of us so what was their logic? Only reason I can think is the fear of high ownership. Its not worked this time but history suggests it is highly likely theyll come good eventually, so is ownership the key consideration that most overlook in our quest for a high OR?

It does make sense. However if he keeps struggling then people without could climb the rankings

interesting....ive sold lukaku for 11.6 when he was 11.7 and he got meager returns and dropped dramatically. I would definitely have kane, aguero and probably morata ahead of lukaku at this stage however... maybe not morata, but ive gone for 3 heavy at the top and kane, kun and lukaku is too heavy

i wouldnt be too stressed about the newcastle game personally, pogba is just back (potentially) and might be out of form and may not even make 90 mins so I dont think there's a brace in for lukaku vs newcastle - at the most he might get a 6-8 points

Hopefully when Pogba returns, their output (including Lukaku's) will improve.

I sold Lukaku a few weeks back and ownership has to be something you factor into your decisions. It is quite scary when you sell such a heavily owned asset within the game as any return will absolutely hammer your rank.

Keeping players that are heavily owned does have its drawbacks though as it limits your opportunity to climb your OR just as much as it reduces your chance of heavy falls. I would say that perhaps the top managers chose at this stage of the season to not take too many risks and play more conservatively. Perhaps being conservative can pay off in the long run by not making too un-necessary gambles.

Lukaku is owned by 45.3% managers in top10k that's near to half the people in 10k. So yeah I agree to your point about being conservative when a player is owned by such a majority, you just can't risk it going without it .

Even in this 'barren' spell he's managed 2 assists, he's ticked over even facing Spurs and Chelsea.
Maybe not explosive but does deliver and most likely will in the next 3 too.

Kane essential vs teams that come out and play but not those that sit back
Lukaku essential as long as not playing top 6 or newly promoted sides...
Few games that either are essential for?!

      1. The Overthinker

So you want to pay 12.8 to get goals only against the team that come out and play? You won't even captain him against them.

If he blanks (which he has been doing) in "easier" games, then I don't think he is worth it

I would if I owned him. Arsenal won't sit back and park the bus, they'll attack. So Kane will definitely score a goal or 2.

Aguero and Salah both good shout. Out of the two, I like aguero . See what happens in the IB

Not sure. If you know you want one of them then stick them in and keep them benched until it's obvious who is preferred. Presumably if you're considering them then you will play 3-5-2 or 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 most weeks anyway

One of his assists was pure luck. Defender’s clearance attempt bounced off him to Bats who then scored. I wouldn’t start him and too expensive for a bench warmer. Fernandinho a better shout for similar price, but not sure I’d use a city slot on him.

Yeah WBA have really deteriorated. The Vardy > Abraham move also enables me to upgrade Cresswell next week to Vertonghen, I want a good stable defence for the xmas period, reckon it's worth a -8 for this GW (Vardy > Abraham, Foster > DDG and Cresswell > Vertonghen)? Then I would have defence of DDG - Daniels - Vert - Mee

From which teams should my defence be in the next month or so?

I play with 4 at the back and now have Jones, Walker, Daniels and Simpson

Jones and Daniels stay, Walker can go to Azpi but he also has nice fixtures so we will see.
The biggest question is Simpson to Burnley def, Moreno or someone else in the next month?

Hopefully he drops in price or at least drops low enough that he doesn't rise this week because I fear another avalanche before GW13 and I will only get him in GW 14.

here is the early transfer thoughts for this GW, looking at taking a hit which should hopefully pay off.

    Forster to DDG
    Bertrand to Jones
    Hegazi to Daniels (-4)

    Leaves me with the following

    DDG
    Maguire Jones Alderweireld Mee
    Richarlison Sane Gross
    Kane Morata Aguero

If you already have Salah and Silva (max city slots). Who would you replace Eriksen with? I wasn't really planning anytime soon to remove him but it seems he is playing deeper and lots of teams already ditched him out.

Keep or double Salah with Mane.

Yeah I might give him 1 more GW and then decide what I am doing. Thanks!

I've already sold him to double-up on Salah & Mane. I'm sure Mane will prove to be better value for the money.

The 0.3 won't really matter for me, but I agree with you that Mane prolly would deliver more points than Eriksen. Gonna decide the next GW. Cheers!
