Never had a loss felt so much like a victory, thought Boris as he and his team of Salahmon Islanders arrived in Hungary Neville. Somehow they had gotten home only to lose on penalties to the Gabons, who celebrated the win by pillaging the island, including Boris’ personal stash of vintage kava, which Boris agreed to give them only if they promised to leave the GreenWindmill behind. What the Gabons didn’t know was that vintage kava was really only used as an hallucinogenic laxative. ‘Good luck in your next match!’, the islanders had called after them as they sailed away, with a sly smile on all their faces.

Two days later and they had arrived at “HungGary Neville” stadium, a beautifully crafted building with state of the art architecture. The word ‘WELL’ had been spray-painted just in front of the stadium name in yellow (“Those Blindians, great sense of humour”, Knuckles had chortled). The entire national team had lined up to greet them and to a man they all resembled the great Gary Neville, even down to their accents. The islanders were fed bowls upon bowls of goulash, the best they had ever tried, washed down with the finest HunGaryan cabernet sauvignon. All in all it was without doubt the best greeting Salahmon Islands had ever had.

Another two days had passed, and since first meeting the HunGaryans, they had not reappeared once. “I wonder where they train?”, wondered Lord aloud, as Team Salahmon Islands made their way down to the main pitch for training. “I couldn’t sleep last night and I went for a walkabout around the entire stadium. I didn’t see a soul.”, whispered Sune. Their training session went well, and for the first tie Boris’ diving tackles failed to injure anyone, and so everyone felt it was a good omen. Later that night, Boris found that he couldn’t sleep. Perhaps it was that 50th bowl of goulash too far, but actually Boris’ sixth sense knew that something was amiss – HunGary Neville was just too perfect a place.

Following Sune’s walkabout confession, Boris decided to do the same, and he had almost made an entire circuit of all five floors when he heard a strange wrenching noise from the basement. He tiptoed his way down the stairs and peered around the door, and was horrified by what he witnessed. Two minutes later Boris burst into his team’s communal bedrooms. “LADS! THEY’RE ALL CLONES!”, Boris wailed, “CLONES OF THE GREAT GARY NEVILLE!”. “Eh?” mumbled rjcv177, barely awake. “CLONES I TELL YOU!!”. Boris looked like his head would burst imminently, but Swanmore reacted the fastest. “Don’t worry boss, all we need to do is work out Gary Neville’s main weakness.”

Two hours later, with minutes before kick-off, the whole Salahmon island team were still wracking their brains to come up with a weakness they could target. Suddenly Lord piped up, “Guys I’ve got a great idea – we just need masks, Sellotape and the 1988/99 Manchester United Annual” – quick as a flash the entire squad leapt into action. Could they finish their cunning plan in time? Would the Salahmon Islands prevail over the mighty, cloned army of HunGary Neville? What was that tasty goulash actually made from? Find out in the next instalment…..

Hi all. I'm at a loss with how to best use my 2 FT and £2m itb. Was thinking Naughton and Brady to Richarlison and Sakho but that leaves me no extra funds to address Niasse if he doesnt play, unless I stick to 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 going forward. Also thinking Niasse and Brady to Benteke and a 4.9 MF is an option. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers

    My team is:

    Fabianski / Elliot

    Mbemba / Mee / Kolasinac / Otemendi/ Naughton

    Salah / Hazard / Sterling / Brady / Loftus-Cheek

    Kane / Morata/ Niasse

      Thanks for the quick post.
Part of the pleasure of partaking in this competition is working out what you want to happen for your team to beat the opponents.
The forwards don't seem to matter as both teams seem to have Kane as captain and Morata as the other forward. The defenders seem to be the main differential.

It's close but I think Grabbangladesh have the advantage.
Including known substitutions the Grabs are about 36 points ahead.

      So
Grabs = 36 + De Gea, Mane, Sterling + Jones
      Ger = Ramsey, Kolasinac(2), Coutinho(2), Otamendi +Jones(2)

An added complication is Jones. If Jones does not play then Grabs will get 8 points and Germane will get 0

And there we are... Fashanu Zealand score +84 from Kane alone.

With one more game to play today, I make that a 94 point lead for the Fashanus, having played only 5 extra players.

The differentials for the late game today are:

      Fashanu Zealand: Yedlin +1
      Reussia: Vardy +1

      That is all.

        Hungary Neville + 26

        Sane x 3, KDB

        --------------------------------------------

        Salahmon Islands

        Mane, Firmino

        Jones x 3, Smalling, Otamendi
        Sterling x 2, Delph, Jesus

        * A Coutinho no show = Hungary Neville gets Niasse, Salahmon get -1 point (Perez)

        * A Firmino no show = Salahmon 2 points (RLC)

            Hungary Neville + 23

            Sane x 3, KDB

            --------------------------------------------

            Salahmon Islands

            Jones x 3, Smalling, Otamendi
            Sterling x 2, Delph, Jesus

            * Salahmon have 0 subs should Jones stay benched

Ignore this, it looks like it was Otamendi x2.

            445-454.

            Well done, Ibeland.

I make it a 15 point for Hungary Neville. 5 wins on the bounce for us. Good game Salahmon, enjoyed that.

Got rid of Alonso being on the suspension tightrope. Luckily Otamendi has served his one game ban already.

Morata another popular player on there

Tough luck Gabons. Otamendi goal winning it for us. Benching your top scorer proved costly.
Credit to us, we somehow managed to bench out 3 lowest scorers 🙂 We needed this win badly
Good Luck for the rest of the tournament
