Yahoo Focus – Gameweek 23

Next up this Saturday, there’s news of another big-money contest on offer from our partner game Yahoo.

They are offering a Premier League £3k Saturday contest which takes in all seven matches from 3pm onwards today, finishing with the 5.30pm encounter between Tottenham Hotspur and Everton at Wembley Stadium.

The contest is guaranteed to run, costs £5 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to six teams. The top 173 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £10, with £300 going to the first place.

Driven by Opta data, the Yahoo game has a unique scoring system ideal for members of our community seeking a Daily Fantasy Sports game.

New players can sign up and claim a free £50 in credit to your account when you deposit just £5. Promo code: Fantasy50.

We also recommend having a look over our Strategy Guide before selecting your line-ups, as this gives you a better idea of the Yahoo game and the types of players who tend to benefit.

FFS Strongest XI

Thibaut Courtois – £16
Marcos Alonso – £17
Serge Aurier – £14
Kieran Gibbs – £13
Eden Hazard – £25
Son Heung-min – £21
Wilfried Zaha – £20
Chris Brunt – £11
Harry Kane – £27
Richarlison – £18
Marko Arnautovic – £17

Thibaut Courtois is selected between the posts for Chelsea’s home clash with Leicester. Although the Foxes have impressed in recent outings, their hosts’ resilience in front of their own fans suggests that goals will be hard to come by for Claude Puel’s side – the Blues have conceded just one goal in their last six matches at Stamford Bridge. Courtois benefits from the Yahoo scoring system – keepers earn points for wins or draws and pick up double the number of points as defenders for a clean sheet.

With goals in two of his last three home fixtures, Marcos Alonso offers a strong double-up route into Antonio Conte’s defence. The raiding win-back also found the net against Arsenal last time out, taking his tally to six strikes for the season – already equaling his haul from 2016/17. Leicester’s problems on the right flank look good news for the forward-thinking Spaniard – no side have conceded more chances (97) or crosses (287) down that side of the pitch than the Foxes.

Coverage of the Spurs defence looks a wise tactic in Yahoo this weekend, given that their visitors Everton are ranked bottom for shots (30) and efforts on target (four) over the last four Gameweeks. Serge Aurier has played from start to finish in each of their last three league matches at Wembley and was rested for last week’s FA Cup clash with Wimbledon. The Frenchman’s all-action style of play is well-suited to the Yahoo scoring matrix – he found the net at home to Brighton in Gameweek 17, while his minutes per successful tackle (19.9) and interception (59.6) at Wembley are quicker than any team-mate.

We’re backing West Brom’s Kieran Gibbs, who entertains a Brighton side that have failed to score in each of their last five road trips. The Baggies’ left-back has served up two clean sheets and a pair of assists in his last five at the Hawthorns. Since Alan Pardew was appointed in Gameweek 15, Gibbs is ranked second among team-mates for key passes (nine) and third for interceptions (eight).

At a cost of just £11 in Yahoo, Chris Brunt also looks a very handy budget enabler for West Brom’s clash with the Seagulls. Back in the first-team frame under Pardew, the Irishman has impressed over the last four Gameweeks – he’s ranked second overall for crosses (31) and successful crosses (11), while only four players have managed more than his 12 key passes.

Eden Hazard is our preferred Chelsea attacker for the home encounter with Leicester. Handed a central role away to Arsenal last time out, the Belgian fired six efforts inside the box and returned to the scoresheet for the first time since Gameweek 15. With Alvaro Morata looking shorn of confidence, Hazard seems the man most likely to trouble a Foxes defence that’s managed just one clean sheet on their travels all season.

Listed as a midfielder in Yahoo for this Gameweek, Son Heung-min is the second of three Spurs players in our line-up for the visit of Everton. The South Korean is one of the most consistent players in front of his own fans, having scored in six of Spurs’ last seven at Wembley. That record could continue against a Toffees’ defence that have allowed more shots on goal (81) than any side over the last four rounds of fixtures.

Wilfried Zaha’s recent home performances have been crucial for Crystal Palace. Handed a role up front by Roy Hodgson, he has returned a goal or assist in six of eight appearances at Selhurst Park. While a visit from Burnley is far from straightforward, the Eagles have proven a consistent source of goals in front of their own fans, scoring twice in seven of the last eight. Zaha’s style of play is also suited to the Yahoo scoring matrix – he is Palace’s top player for shots (22), efforts on target (nine) and fouls won (26) at home this season.

Having scored twice in each of his last two meetings with Everton, we turn to Harry Kane to lead out three-man frontline. Despite a disappointing double Gameweek 22, Kane’s recent displays make for encouraging reading. Over the last four Gameweeks, he’s the leading contender for shots (24), efforts in the box (17) and attempts on target (10), while his haul of six goals is at least double any other player.

At home to a Southampton side with a single clean sheet in their last eight away fixtures, Richarlison could be set to end his recent goal drought. Only six players have fired more shots inside the box that the Watford attacker over the last four Gameweeks, while his numbers for the season showcase a suitability to the Yahoo scoring system. The most fouled player (70) in the Premier League, he’s ranked fourth for goal attempts (68), while a total of 43 successful tackles is indicative of his impressive work-rate for the Hornets.

Back in contention for West Ham’s trip to Huddersfield, Marko Arnautovic looks a snip at just £17. Over his last six matches, the Austrian has bagged five goals and an assist and sits sixth for both shots (21) and efforts in the box (15). Encouragingly for the Hammers’ attack, no side have conceded more big chances in the last four Gameweeks that the Terriers’ 12.

As Yahoo allows late swaps up until each kick-off, our listed line-up may well be subject to change.

The Weekend Contests

As well as the Premier League £3k Saturday contest, Yahoo are also offering a Premier League £1.5k Sunday contest.

This takes in both matches that day (Bournemouth vs Arsenal and Liverpool vs Manchester City) in addition to the Monday evening encounter between Manchester United and Stoke City at Old Trafford.

This is also guaranteed to run, costs £5 to enter and is a multi-entry game, which means you can select up to three teams. The top 82 places pay out – there’s a minimum win-back of £10, with £150 going to the first place.

You can open an account and get started immediately.

If you register and deposit £5 or more, Yahoo will also give you a £50 bonus to be used as cash to enter paid contests.

Register here to claim the bonus.

You must be over 18 years of age, resident in the UK, and of legal capacity to register with Yahoo Daily Sports and open an Account. If you sign up, please always play responsibly.

The FFS Holiday Cup

Finally, a head-up on the outcome of Yahoo’s inaugural FFS Holiday Cup, which took place over the previous four rounds of fixtures.

The contest ended in Gameweek 22, with the top 15 Fantasy managers all picking up cash for that round. Meanwhile, NaturalFootyFan claimed the top overall prize of £50, with WorldCupDanB (£40) and tim-GJUEM (£30) completing the top three.

Our list of prize-winners is as follows:

Coutinho and Kenny to Jones and Milijovic (-4)? Leaves exactly enough in the bank for Vardy to kun next week. Think Jones could offset the hit, and gives me a decent first bench option.

Dont like Kun. Seems like Jesus is back in just 3 weeks, and Pep also hinted that he might play with Sterling or B. SIlva as a false 9 to spare Aguero from playing all games while Jesus is out.
