Dugout Discussion – Chelsea vs West Brom

Gameweek 27 concludes under the lights of Stamford Bridge for what looks to be a crucial encounter for both Chelsea and West Brom, for all kinds of reasons.

Antonio Conte’s tenure with the champions looks to be precarious at best following successive heavy defeats to Bournemouth and Watford. Another setback tonight would likely seal his fate.

Like Conte, Fantasy managers will be hoping for a reaction and a revival from the Blues.

However, we won’t benefit from returns from Marcos Alonso. The most sold Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player ahead of Saturday’s deadline he remains in 1.3 million squads but misses out once again having sat out the defeat at Watford through “fatigue”. Conte has confirmed that a twisted ankle suffered in training is to blame for his latest absence.

Meanwhile, Eden Hazard remains an erratic but potentially powerful differential. Owned by just 474,000 managers, he has the talent to deliver big against the bottom club.

He is backed with 119,000+ captaincies, including seven of the top 100 managers prior to Saturday’s deadline.

Just two of his nine goals have arrived on home turf this season – both scored against Newcastle in Gameweek 15. He did, however, score his season-high 18-point total against West Brom in the reverse fixture in Gameweek 12.

Olivier Giroud might just be vital to the Belgian’s prospects. He makes his full debut tonight, leading the Chelsea attack with Hazard deployed as one of a supporting two – Pedro also flanks the former Arsenal striker.

The weekend could not have been more troublesome for West Brom; they now find themselves seven points adrift and challenged to come away from West London with some reward. Plenty of Fantasy managers will be hoping that they are denied.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I would wait as there is so many matches from now until next gameweek, but not sure Jones is worth taking out, Alonso is more difficult as we don´t know his condition and tough fixtures so if afforded he could stay in your team until the fine fixtures arrives and thats about a month in time from now. To me Otamendi is the one who needs to get the boot, City contrary to the other ones doesnt care about defending and rotation is looming. LIngard and Ogbonna looks like obviously out but as they only bench for you maybe could just stay? It depends also on your team as a whole and what you want to with the money from Ota if downgrading?

A bit of fine-tuning and it's very good, Lingard to Shaq, Stones to VVD and Maybe Alonso to Vert depending on how many frees (that's my order of preference). I don't think those are enough to take you that far back so must be captaincies

Cheers! Have been shocking at captaincy during that run. I captained Kane, Kun, and Hazard in pretty much all of the games that they've blanked and none that they hauled in. Will now just leave it on Salah for the rest of the year except for the dgws. I have 2 fts and I've been planning on Stones to VVD and will obviously need to get rid of Lingard but don't have enough to do the first two you mentioned and don't want to lose Alonso. I'll just reaccess after the FA Cup games and hopefully I'll get back on track

Just looked at the potential blanks and am thinking of maybe doing Stones to VVD and Lingard to Stanislas for free if Bournemouth don't blank. I had Stanislas last year and he did pretty good before he got injured. Do you think he's a good pick right now?

he could be but his injury record is what it is, i bought him but have a decent sub if he crocks, which he will eventually, just hoping he last for those jammy fixtures ahead-)

sliding that far and at that price range he is at least the most capable player in that range to get you a monster haul. So you could get a 15-20 pointer but also a injury headache, so it is a risky business.

From your captain fails i would say that is what must be better, your team looks good otherwise

I agree. Wally/Ibe/Milo does not look a good midfield trio that could chase many points. If sticking with that front 3, I would get the cheapest 5th mid and use that for an upgrade elsewhere.

Currently own Aguero, My paid price on Aguero is 11.7m, selling value 11.8m, current price 12m. Reverse the Kane/Kun hokey cokey now? Kane at 44% Correct me if I'm wrong but I need 2 Kun rises for 0.1m more sv so unlikely to see that without a Kane rise right?

    1. AnderEstimatedHerrera
      • 7 Years
      6 years, 2 months ago

      Hi Klopp,
Think you need just 0.1 rise from Kun for your SV to become 11.9, but seems it will not happen with most Kanexiters want him back onboard. You can lose if Kun doesn't rise but Kane does.

    2. Ruth_NZ
      • 9 Years

You need 0.1m more to get 11.9m for Kun and he is rising fairly fast.

As long as Kun rises before deadline (almost certain unless he gets injured) you are better off waiting for that, even if it means paying 12.9m for Kane. But you could get lucky and see Kun rise first.

    3. bench boost for every gamew…
      • 7 Years
      6 years, 2 months ago

you need only 0.1 to get 11.9 but Kane is also going upwards albeit not as fast as Kun it looks like they both will rise. Was set on this transfer myself but Jesus injury should be monitored and i think Kun starts vs Arsenal no matter what. I must admit when i try to read the fixture in advance i´m not totally confident Kane has that much better fixture than Aguero. Arsenal could see themselves some 10 points behind Champions league spot when they meet City and that could have a dramatic impact on their display as will the league cup final do, which you´d expect they think is more important. Palace fighting for survival and also tends to be tight affairs in which Kane and Spurs could be frustrated. Kane usually do well in london derbies, but Palace is the exception.

    Morning dzzz,

Feeling rewarded after the haz captaincy paid off (not as much as kun but nevertheless). I consider myself to be a pretty dullard player and whenever i have taken hits, it rarely pays off.

However, decided to take a 8 point hit (first time ever) for Kaneexit and even though my OR hasnt moved much (due to other failings in my team), my 8 point hit for Lanzini/Arnie/Kane >> Ibe/Hazard/Kun REALLY paid off due to the satisfaction it brought. Made me realise that if thought out and calculated, hits can pay off. Its obviously in hindsight as kane could have easily scored a hattrick but what really swayed me to take the double hit was captaincy.

Had i kept kane, I would have captained Salah three times to face hud (a), Spurs (h), and saints (a). Unfortunately, Salah did really well and hence one could argue that my hits were neutralised but i wouldnt have felt confident with going for salah in those games. Instead, i choose the captaincy of Kun (WBA), Haz (BOU, WBA).

Dont want to come across smug but feeling really satisfied when a decision to go out of my comfort zone pays off...my high stakes ML where the gap was 60 points to the top of the ML has been reduced to 20points and I am in witha shout. I may not win it but it gives me a renewed sense to chase now that i am within touching distance..lots of points to play for still with all the chips and am sure FFS will def help me in that regard. So thank you to everyone:)

    Good morning all,

Do you guys think Bavies is now ahead of Rose for the left back position? Rose hasn't done well enough when he came back from injury before getting injured again, while his compatriot Bavies has been in excellent form all season. I am also thinking Alder but would have to wait for that.

    Meanwhile keep or ditch Alonso/Ota?

    Is Alonso’s price locked now?
I read a weird rule of players price locking beneath the grid on price changes site. It clarified me why Salah didn’t drop a single 0.1 back DGW22. The rule states if player was injured and his status changes again it is being locked. So I believe Marko’s status changed from Fatigue to Ankle injury and he should be locked now. Even the persantile of playing stayed the same 75%.
    Am I right?

2 CS in 7 games. Liverpool always good for a surprise defeat too.

He's a good shout, no doubt.. but not 2nd on the watchlist might be a stretch.

      he's a genuine goal threat

he's playing in a Liverpool defense that isn't as bad as people seem to think, and he's improved it

      he's a bonus point magnet

Liverpool play in GW31 and have nice fixtures now generally

      what's not to like?

McBurnie was on fire last game, scored a great goal and was voted MoM.

It was for Barnsley v Sheff Wed in the Championship though 🙂

Pretty weird when you get what, on the surface, looks like a great score (85), only to move up 2k places...

Probably got a high rank to start with? Gets harder to move up rankings closer you are to top, even with good scores.

Top 10K averaged 81, normally need 3 more for a green arrow if ranked in top 100K.

Why are you doing GW31? Free hit?

      Only 2 players at moment.
