Dugout Discussion – Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Saturday’s matches conclude at Stamford Bridge with champions Chelsea hosting relegation-threatened Crystal Palace.

There is plenty of interest from a Fantasy perspective, with Willian heading into the encounter as the third most signed player ahead of today’s deadline.

He has over 100,000 new owners and boasts three goals and three assists from his last five Gameweek starts, one of which was a 32-minute appearance at Watford.

The Brazilian is now in 11% of Fantasy Premier League squads, which surprisingly dwarfs the 7.6% recorded by team-mate Eden Hazard.

The Belgian will be fancied ahead of this evening’s kick-off, having scored six goals in his last eight Gameweek starts. He has been spared the false nine role, with Antonio Conte opting for Olivier Giroud over Alvaro Morata to lead his attack.

N’Golo Kante returns in the Chelsea midfield, which will doubtless boost their clean sheet prospects. Conte’s backline have kept five shut-outs in their last six Stamford Bridge outings.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

If you are using FH, would you ignore Everton? They have been pretty poor away from home this season. Zaha probably a better pick over Walcott/Siggy.

Zaha over Walcott/Siggy for sure for me. Baines, Coleman and Tosun the most interesting Everton options. Probably the most interesting defensive options too considering a Liverpool triple up in attack is must have

I dont know if it tells us somthing about this season but I checked the last 10th GW for last season for top 6 and the middle of the table teams.

    Top 6 CS -
    UTD 6\10
    Arsenal, POOL, Spurs 5\10
    City 4\10
    Chelsea 3\10

    Places 8-17 CS
Sou, Bou, Whm, Lec, Swansea, Burnley, 4\10
    Wat 3\10
    CPA 2\10
    WBA 1\10

I did it to see wether or not teams that try to survive get more CS in the survivel battles then top 6 teams. It seems to be that most of the top 6 teams last year still get more CS then the others.

This is where I'm at free hit wise so far (yet to press the button)

    Begovic
    Baines Ake Coleman
    Salah Mane Zaha Pritchard (Shaqiri)
    Firmino Tosun King

Might bring Shaq in for someone but this looks pretty close to what I'd consider a final draft

Butland worth a shout, perhaps? You are hedging your bets a little with the double defensive double-up (not that most of these teams will even keep a clean sheet though, to be honest).

I feel like I'd want to start Shaqiri as he is still decently owned (in active teams).

Thanks for the input. Wilson is a troll and might get benched for Defoe. As for Zaha, Palace need him, I think he starts and gets taken off early. Pritch/RVLP is a toss up, I think Pritch more likely to make something happen but RVLP is in good form, will give it some thought. Against anyone with 11 men Hudds will 9/10 times concede.

Pardon me for getting in the way of a good narrative on here, but blaming teams who have a game in GW31 for the acrid performances across FPL the past three weeks might be a bit shortsighted. The bigger issue is how poorly the template have performed since the fixtures have turned, not the GW31 teams.

    GW 28 Dream Team
    Ederson 15
    Walker 10 Tomkins 9 Mariappa 8
Can 13 Sané 13 van La Parra 10 Salah 10
    Gayle 13 Murray 12 Lukaku 12
    4 31ers, 1 template player

    GW 29
    Butland 11
    van der Hoorn 10 Alexander-Arnold 9 Dunk 8
    Son 16 Ki Sung-yueng 13 Bernardo Silva 11 Mahrez 10 Matic 9
    Deeney 9 Tosun 9
    3 31ers, 2 template-ish players

    GW30 so far
    2 31ers, 1 template-ish player (Mahrez)

The Form table isn't much better -- only ten players overall are scoring above 6 PPG, only three are above 7 PPG. Perhaps Willian or maybe Lukaku could have been a considered pick if ignoring next week's blanks, but are people really arguing that loading up on Swansea and Newcastle were smarter plays than Theo Walcott?

Yep, I think Salah and Firmino also covered up just how woeful the returns have been across the board -- they blank today and it's GW31's fault that teams are so bad.
