Dugout Discussion – Man United vs West Brom

Following on from Newcastle’s win over Arsenal at St James’ Park, we turn to Sunday’s second, and final, fixture as Manchester United entertain West Bromwich Albion at 4pm.

After Harry Kane failed to produce the goods in the first of his two matches, all eyes turn to his Double Gameweek 34 rival Romelu Lukaku, who has been handed the armband by 16.6% of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.

With three goals and two assists in the last five Gameweeks, 45 of the top 100 captained the Red Devils’ frontman, with only seven opting for Alexis Sanchez.

Yet with back-to-back double-figure hauls in each of the last two, the Chilean (4% ownership) has the potential to prove a devastating differential candidate for clashes against the Baggies and Bournemouth.

Elsewhere for the hosts, Paul Pogba and Chris Smalling join Lukaku in the top five for transfers in ahead of Gameweek 34.

Over 234,000 acquired the Frenchman after his two-goal derby haul at the Etihad, while Smalling’s run of ten starts – and two goals in that period – earned him more new owners (175,000+) than any defender for Gameweek 34.

Both start in the XI, with Victor Lindelof selected alongside Smalling at centre-half.

However, Jesse Lingard’s owners are left relying on minutes off the bench as he’s named among the subs – over 98,000 snapped up the United winger ahead of Saturday’s deadline.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

No free hit so thinking I'll go Silva up until/if we get news he's going back to Spain and then get Son back in at that point, sound good?

Skewed data imo, passes the eye test every match, he scored v Chelsea at home and the games he blanked were when he was in and out of the team due the complications with his child.

Clearly the way to rank high in FPL is to have a jammy casual first month and then pick the same players as everyone else for the rest of the season to maintain your rank. I got it all figured out for next season at least....

      Ramsey a risky pick. Wouldn't have Mustafi in there, part of a weak defence that is also subject to rotation now. Jesus subject to Aguero;

Hmm think I will get rid of Ramsey then.

I know Arsenal defence isn't great but who would you pick instead of him? A Burnley def maybe? I think Arsenal still have the best chance of a cs after City & Liverpool next gameweek

Jesus is a risk I know, will have to see what Pep says about Kun

Some Spanish newspaper are reporting that Modric could sign for Liverpool in the summer
I see trade 5 players plus 100 mil for Salah
Do you guys think that Salah stays?

No idea why people think Salah is going to up and leave right away. He absolutely loves it in Liverpool. He's heavily involved in the local community, has settled in really well and it's clear he's thriving under Klopp.

Lets not forget he was in the Prem before and wasn't given the chance at Chelsea. He's had one good season in his career at Roma, and Liverpool have turned around and gone "we want you, we think you've got what it takes."

He doesn't come across an arrogant or aloof kind of guy - he's a very dignified, humble man. Besides, Liverpool are in with a real chance of winning the Champions League this season and have shown they're good enough (at times) to play with the big boys this season.

Salah said he was dying to play in PL after leaving Chelsea..
Why would he go when he is getting all the honors and fame here.

        Scout Team Score so far:

        Starting XI: 26
        Bench: 2 (Arnautovic to play)

I don't think you could really criticise their picks too much this week either - just looks like a slow start to the DGW.

Ironically, in a week where a lot of people perhaps saw Chelsea assets as something of a liability, they've proven key to getting points.

So many people have been caught up with Kane, Lukaku and Sanchez, it's as if there were no other options.

DGW always seems to have this affect on a lot of players.

He'll probably give minutes to Bernardo and Laporte, can't see rotation apart from that.
