Dugout Discussion – Newcastle vs Arsenal

The first of two Sunday fixtures kicks off at 1.30pm as Newcastle United welcome Arsenal to St James’ Park.

With both sides set to play in Gameweek 35 and twice in Double Gameweek 37, today’s fixture affords Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers the chance for early scouting.

Unbeaten in their last six at St James’ Park, the Magpies have conceded just twice in that run and are seeking a fourth successive clean sheet in front of their own supporters.

That resilience hasn’t stopped Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being named as the ninth most popular captain pick (2.04%), despite Arsenal playing just once in Gameweek 34.

Sold by over 217,000 FPL managers in the clamour to acquire Harry Kane and Romelu Lukaku, the Gabon international has five goals in the last four Gameweeks and averaged 6.4 points per match since arriving in the winter transfer window.

With Arsene Wenger rotating heavily due to the Gunners’ Europa League schedule, the likes of Hector Bellerin, Laurent Koscielny, Aaron Ramsey and Mesut Ozil all miss out altogether.

However, Alexandre Lacazette is named on the teamsheet alongside Aubameyang as he continues to build up his match fitness following a recent stint on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, the 5.1-priced Alex Iwobi has the chance to play his way into our Free Hit chip plans, having delivered two assists against Southampton last weekend.

Similarly, the cut-price Kenedy (4.8) and Ayoze Perez (5.3) have excelled for the Magpies of late, with both bagging two goals and an assist in the last three Gameweeks.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

          Cool cheers. Hennessey the letdown.
I suppose it depends how strong the bench is. Certainly the highest my bench has scored all season anyway

The one player I couldn't squeeze into my GW34 team and scares the hell out of me is Pogba.
14% ownership but I reckon there's alot of top 10Kers with him.

Wenger is genuinely a shocking manager now. His subs reflect that imo. Nketiah and maitland-niles will be decent players in the future but it shows that Wenger has stopped caring about this league season and is giving up

He’s a liability now, but the board have the most culpability in all of this as none of them have the balls to stand up to him and get rid.

      Thoughts on this plan
Dont have FH Chip for GW 35.
Does it make sense to add players I THINK will score points and just take hits to counter everyones FH Chip

      I was thinking of adding
      Mahrez > Sterling
      Grob > D Silva -4
      Lukaku > Jesus - 8

Current team GW 35 (5 players)
      Hennessey
      Lowton Long
      Kenedy Gudmundsson

      GW 35 players not playing
      DDG
      Alonzo Smalling Morgan
      Willian Grob Mahrez
      Kane Lukaku Vardy

Would set up GW 36 like this
      DDG
      Alonzo Smalling Morgan
      Willian Sterling Silva Gudmundsson
      Vardy Kane Jesus

Then going into GW 37 2 FTs

Fifth consecutive defeat on the road for Arsenal - they've got 13 points from 16 away games this season, scoring just 17 goals.

Man Utd play them at Old Trafford in GW36, ahead of Arsenal's Europa League semi-finals second leg. Don't go selling United players just because it's red on the ticker!
