World Cup

World Cup 2018 – Team Analysis – Egypt

Egypt’s hopes of success at the 2018 World Cup have been potentially devastated by events the Champions League final.

The shoulder injury sustained by Mohamed Salah which saw him depart on just 30 minutes against Real Madrid could rule the Liverpool midfielder out of the tournament – although the Egyptian FA have opted to take him to Russia.

That at least offers hope, with Salah undoubtedly vital to Egypt’s prospects.

The Liverpool winger is considered as the talisman in the Pharaohs’ squad and, from a Fantasy perspective, he would be their obvious target for attacking points in World Cup Fantasy.

Elswhere, manager Hector Cuper’s preference for a defensive set-up, even against other African nations, could provide us with an outside chance of clean sheets in Russia.

Road to Qualification

As the most successful nation in African football history, it was about time that Egypt made it to a World Cup for the first time since 1990.

Despite missing out on the tournament for the last six editions, they have won the African Cup of Nations more times than any other side (seven), most recently in 2010. And they came close to winning an eighth title last year as they were narrowly beaten in the 2017 final by Cameroon, knocking out Ghana, Morocco and Burkina Faso along the way. It served as good tournament experience and largely demonstrated the mental and defensive strength of this group of players.

That AFCON campaign took place in the middle of a World Cup qualifying programme in which Egypt, again, got the best of Ghana, who have been one of the continent’s best performers over the last decade.

The only nation to defeat Egypt in the six matches played in Group E of the third round was an emerging Uganda side. Without particularly entertaining, the Pharaohs had qualification wrapped up with one game to spare. Inevitably, it was sealed by Salah and his brace in a 2-1 win over Congo in Alexandria.

Since booking their place in Russia, Egypt have been somewhat unconvincing in two March friendly defeats to Portugal and Greece, both in Switzerland.

The former was the only one in which the vast majority of regulars were involved. Salah gave Egypt the lead before Cristiano Ronaldo struck twice late on to win it. A more experimental side was downed by a solitary Nikolaos Karelis goal a few days later.

Salah’s importance to Egypt was demonstrated in two World Cup warm-up games. In a 0-0 draw with Colombia and a 3-0 defeat to Belgium they looked decidedly average without the Liverpool man in their side.

AFC World Cup Qualifying Third round
Most starts: Mohamed Elneny (6), Mohamed Abdel-Shafy, Essam El-Hadary, Tarek Hamed, Mohamed Salah (all 5)
Most goals: Mohamed Salah (5), Abdallah El-Said (2).
Most assists: Trezeguet (3), Mohamed Salah (2).

African Cup of Nations 2017
Most starts: Mohamed Elneny, Tarek Hamed, Mohamed Salah, Ahmed Fathy, Ali Gabr, Ahmed Hegazi (all 6), Trezeguet, Essam Al-Hadary (both 5).
Most goals: Mohamed Salah (2).
Most assists: Mohamed Salah (2).

The Key Targets

Mohamed Salah (£7.3m in Fantasy iTeam) is the obvious candidate among Egypt’s ranks. The Liverpool winger can often operate as an out-and-out centre-forward for his national side, which is why McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy has classifiied him as a forward, at a price of £8.5m). He heads into this summer’s finals as the Premier League’s Golden Boot winner and Fantasy Premier League record-breaker. It’s 12 goal involvements in as many international appearances (qualifiers, African Cup of Nations and recent friendlies combined) since October 2016 for Salah, thanks to eight goals and four assists.

However, without both Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino alongside him, even if Salah recovers to make the finals, he perhaps seems unlikely to reach the dizzy heights of his domestic club campaign. Indeed, Egypt’s unhealthy dependence on the Reds’ man could lead to opposition defences doubling up to restrict his impact.

Attacking midfielder Abdallah El-Said (£6.0m) could offer the best alternative route for attacking returns should Salah be ruled out.

He is still a long way off the Liverpool man for goal involvement (three goals, two assists) in the build-up to the World Cup. However, El-Said’s role in the national set-up is in the No 10 position, and he seems the most likely to provide assists for Salah, or the creative spark in his absence.

Fantasy managers could also look to take advantage of Cuper’s defensive mindset. Indeed, it should be noted that Egypt have conceded more than one goal just once in all their competitive matches under Cuper since 2015.

Ahmed Hegazi (£4.5m) looks to be the most candidate to consider.

One of the ever-presents in Egypt’s journey to the 2017 AFCON final, collecting four clean sheets, the strong and sometimes clumsy centre-back recorded encouraging defensive numbers in FPL with West Bromwich Albion this season. The third top defender for clearances, blocks and interceptions (CBI) this season, his contribution could help defy Saudi Arabia and Russia in the group matches.

We know he can be a threat from set-pieces too; Hegazi (£5.5m in Fantasy iTeam) scored twice this season and was level with Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso for big chances among defenders (four).

The Long Shots

There are a couple of youthful options in Egypt’s attacking midfield who could act as differentials.

Mahmoud Hassan (commonly known as Trezeguet) registered three assists in qualifying, and he could shine in Salah’s potential absence.

At club level Trezeguet (£6.0m) has enjoyed a stunning campaign, scoring 13 times and assisting another six in 31 appearances for Turkish Super Lig outfit Kasimpasa.

Forward Ramadan Sobhi (£5.5m) failed to achieve similar levels as Stoke City were relegated from the Premier League. Nonetheless, the wide man could prove a handy enabler if he can cement regular starts.

In Cuper’s regular 4-2-3-1, Ramadan seemed likely to miss out. He has started just five times for his country since October 2016, often featuring as a substitute. However, should Salah be sidelined, the young Potters winger could now be a more secure starter.

Ramadan, along with Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim (Kahraba) and Amr Warda, could all be trialled in Salah’s role. The forthcoming friendlies will tell us more, with the prognosis on Salah’s shoulder now the most crucial news to come from the Egyptian camp.

Upcoming Friendlies

None.

I'm really having a hard time understanding this Mahrez speculation.

        Mahrez xG90 0.2, xA90 0.23
        Sane xG90 0.23, xA90 0.34 (and 5 years younger)
        Sterling xG90 0.65, xA90 0.31 (and 4 years younger)

Sure, you would expect Mahrez numbers to go up while playing for City, but there's much better talent out there at a much better age. I know Utd have a buyback on Depay, but would love City to come over the top of it.

This begun quite a few years back. I used to know every track and track order of every album. Now with digital music, albums become playlist and song names, let alone track order get forgotten.

It is a real shame - putting an album together and ordering songs is an art in itself which I guess is being lost on more and more people as years go by.

I'm grateful for having my period during the 90's when I obsessed about this stuff. My son probably won't believe it by the time he starts "collecting" music.

You're absolutely right. Deciding on the order of songs on an album is an art form in itself.

Have to agree with Virg here. I'm a huge 'abum guy' and I refuse to download Spotify and 'get with the times' because I hate the shift towards shuffling through the hit singles while album tracks get ignored.

I often find that the best songs from bands are the deeper cuts that go far under the radar, although one benefit is that finding these treasures is more satisfying now in a generation where the singles are hugely overplayed and worn out.

Same on spotify but I can't really grumble - don't buy many albums these days, and concerts tend to involve some reminiscence - eg. going to see Orbital next month.

Going to a concert and the band pulling out an obscure album track is one of the best feelings! Especially when you're there singing like a loon while everyone else around is silent just nodding their head...

You guys all realise you can still listen to albums on Spotify right..? Full albums are all I listen to these days and it's an incredible resource to do so and find new music. It's completely changed the way I listen to music, for the better - don't blame the tool, blame the user!

Agree it’s our fault not the tools. I’ve become so lazy with my music in the last five years or so though the tools have made that easier for me. I’ve got friends that still reject digital. I feel like a fraud when I chat music with them now!

            Depends what you listen to.

Some albums I listen to clearly have filler tracks on while other artists know they can't get away with this and will fill their album with near 'singles' and make the whole album worth listening too and worth putting out as an album. Sure there might be an experimental track or two but it enriches the experience.

Of course Iike many people I simply don't have the time to listen to dross and so my entire music library is only what I find palatable on the album. But that's not to say I don't try and see what's there.

As a general rule of thumb I don't acquire any piece of music until its at least a year old, simply because it being current can skew tastes.. But I have such a wide taste in music anyway most of what's played on the radio doesn't even cater much for me.

Salah deserves to be able to play in the world cup. It will be such a shame if an absolute c*** of a player has robbed him of that opportunity

Ramos unquestionably knew exactly what he was doing. Such "gamesmanship" should be stamped out of the game

I like TFF (for PL and other leagues). It is a simple game and requires you to think as you have limited transfers so have to plan.

FPL has lost its way with chips IMO. Because people are using the same strategies with the DGWs. WC game will go the same way.

Telegraph is good for the strategy involved with so many transfers, FiT is a nice structure if you don't mind putting a fiver behind it and Superbru is quite nice with no transfer budget and minimal transfers

Maximum captain could be interesting. No DGWs at least make the chips more random factors.

I'm trying to work out if luck is less of a factor but I guess it is. Squad strength is probably the key to maximum captain.

Luck is a massive factor for maximum captain as defenders and goal keepers will randomly score massively with goals and penalty saves. Getting Smalling as your MC in GW34 would be pure luck.

I’ve always thought best Captain and best 11 would be better for fpl than current chips. My concern is chips are not as good for a 7gw compared to a 38gw competition could carry to much weight

          Fantasy Friendlies (Pre-WC) 2018

Before last season we had here a fantasy game about European Cup qualifications made by one of our members. I really enjoyed that so how about a fantasy game with friendlies before World Cup?
It will help us knowing some teams who will play in Russia and will also help us to survive till 14 of June.

If any of you will be interested I will write a short community post and if the mods will agree we can post our game there.

Generally the rules are similar to FPL but no budget, no baps, no chips, no captain. Simply pick your XI by posting it in the article out of the teams that play in every GW. You get points for goal, assist, CS and save a pen for GK and minus for red/yellow card and miss a pen. Max 3 out of one team with formation 3-4-3 + GK. GW is a day with minimum 4-5 "good" friendly games.
Every GW I will post all games that we can pick players from and to make sure you pick all starters you can wait for lineups. Also you don't have to post full team at once. So for example if we have games at 6:00, 8:00 and 9:00 you can pick and post few players from games at 6:00 (before kick off obviously) than (by reply to your post with picked players) some players from games at 8:00 and rest of your team (as a reply to your post) from games at 9:00 to complete your 3-4-3 formation team.
All data like the scorers, assisters etc will come followed by flashscore.com to make it clear and fair. If flashscore says no assist-so no assist even if you watch the game and see that there was one. Same as players positions so if a player is listed as a defender (click on a player name to check details) but plays as a mid in his team formation we treat him as a defender etc.
After every GW I will post all the scores and will sum it up plus will write the games and dates of next GW.

If you are interested post your comment here and check this post for next instructions like new article etc.
If you have any questions about it or something is unclear post it here too.

          Cheers!

No worries. Good luck with it. It's an excellent way of keeping up to date on the friendlies at least. Above all, they will be the major factors to our initial squad line-ups in whatever game we're playing for the tournament proper.

I used to like F1 and the Monaco GP. But it has become boring now IMO and Monaco is only good if it is raining. The fact that F1 is leaving free-to-air TV after this season is also annoying. I have Sky, but I like the traditional free-to-air coverage on a Sunday afternoon.

Last night Liverpool were beaten by the better team, and whatever your opinion on Ramos' behaviour, they would have lost anyway. However, they've got to be up there as one of the only teams that can really challenge Man City for the PL, and with a new GK, Naby Keita giving them a new dimension in midfield and potentially Fekir as quality backup, alongside having very few players likely to go far or play much in this World Cup, from GW1 they look like the team that may start strongest.

Spurs - if Poch can get someone like Zaha / Shaqiri in. To give them something off the bench. Lamela, Wanayama, Llorente are not good options off the bench.

Yep and, given the potential competition in City's squad, we may actually go all out on Liverpool with at last two of their attacking players and probably one of their full-backs.

They're going to be massive for us again next season.

Liverpool just need half-decent fixtures for me to commit to 3 x Pool.

Robertson, Salah and Firmino looks good to me.

Not for me - investing over a quarter of your TV in one team (28.5m) is too much to risk on the weeks that they don't perform, with other premium options available - I'd be tempted to double up on their D or go without Salah, with maybe Mane if he's under 10m.

                    Look at them in isolation.

Robbo at 6m is good value with his attacking threat (fixtures permitting)

Firmino at 9.5 would also be great value relative to his price point.

Salah. Well, I think it’ll just be too risky to go without unless their fixtures are horrendous to start with

At Thodesen prises your likely to Only be alle to invest 17-18m across the orker starting positions. LFC-assets are greit, but that seems like to much of s gamble for me.

TAA might be .5 cheaper than Robbo? (Robbo and VvD same price?) I think choosing them and Salah(c) is the most tempting option. But yes, Firmino and Mané also depending on the price and other players to choose from.

I think Firmino will still represent value unless there are some serious new additions up front. Particularly if we're not going Kane from the get-go.

Salah is probably a given unless ludicrously priced and Bale arrives a lot cheaper.

And in defence, TAA and Robertson will be massive temptations given what they offer going forward.

I think 3xLiverpool will be in the GW1 template.

Ah, the classic 'next season is their season'. The only team that can challenge City is a team that has won the solitary one trophy in the last 12 years and hasn't lifted a league title in 28 years, 21 days and 20 hours.

This was more than true of City pre -2011/ 2012 or obviously Leicester pre-2015/16 and I don't think they'll win, but they could run them close - they're undoubtedly a strong side and everyone saw them beat City numerous times this season.

Chelsea's know-how of winning the league (and no CL distraction) plus United's squad depth are in my opinion both better equipped than Liverpool to challenge. Liverpool fall in the bracket below with Spurs and potentially Arsenal for me.

City pre 11/12 were outspending the rest and it was only a matter of time before they'd start winning. They've also been lucky/smart in the sense that none of their best players have left them. I can see Salah leaving in a year or two just like Suarez/Coutinho. Long term I can't see Liverpool outspending the Manchester clubs.

Leicester was a total fluke. I still have no idea how or why that happened.

City need to buy defenders that can defend rather than depend on keeping the ball. They've a good keeper, Sane, Sterling and De Bruyne. Fernandinho is class but at 33 they need a decent backup, possibly Delph. Silva and Aguero are past their best. Jesus has to stepup on PL, he's well capable of doing that. If they could sign Alderweireld it'd be a massive boost.

Unfortunately Liverpool have no depth in their squad. Spurs or United should challenge City more than Liverpool. Chelsea need an overhaul.

I still think Liverpool's squad is too threadbare to compete on multiple fronts, especially when their style is balls-to-the-wall pressing and attacking. It leaves the squad knackered come April and it's no surprise they somewhat stumbled over the line in the league, with Salah especially putting in a few tired performances.

They'll be a threat but I don't think they can close such a big gap to City, who will also strengthen too lest we forget.

I refuse to accept "whatever your opinion on Ramos... would have lost anyway".

How many times have we referred to Salah here as the talisman... Did he now change the game against City? Are we not getting ready for a possible 13mio price tag for next year? Then how can we say his presence on the pitch would not have changed the result, especially when two goals were gifts from Karius?

Ramos is the ugly face of this game and so are the UEFA crew who were grinning as they handed over a much underserved cup to Ramos. At least they could have shown the unmitigated temerity to feel sorry for Salah and show a dry face to Ramos. At least he could have apologised, perhaps.

Why was Ronaldo so poor yesterday? At least partly because his rival was sent off the pitch due to a misdemeanour of his mate. Ronaldo saw it was wrong. No more competition on the pitch and he let it go. He was not even happy at the end.

I hate Sergio Ramos. He is killing football.

              Quite right.
The match was heavily influenced by three things - Karius's blunders, Salah's injury, and Ramos not being red carded for his physical assault on Salah.
If Salah had not been injured, then who knows what the result might have been?
Liverpool were the better team until Salah's injury and, although their bench was weaker, they might have been in the lead by the time Bale came on if Salah hadn't been injured.

Shortly before Karius's first blunder, the commentator remarked that he was looking a bit dazed (or something like that). Was that as a result of another sly foul that wasn't spotted?
Ramos should also have had a yellow card for claiming he had been hit in the face when there had been no contact, in an attempt to get a Liverpool player sent off.
It is unbelievable that the ref did not give even a single foul against Ramos.

That's just my opinion and it's there to be disagreed with. Real Madrid were the better team on the night and the idea that because Liverpool started well they could carry that on is exactly what Zidane wanted, and how his team have won in this tournament all season. The fact that when Carvajal got injured Spain international Nacho could come on for him is testament to Real's quality and depth - whereas Liverpool had to bring on Lallana as their sub. Ronaldo didn't choose to have a poor game to protest injustice, he was just well defended and had an off day, but Real had Bale and Benzema, among others, that could make up for it - Ramos has done that repeatedly to other players, including Messi, with no affect on CR7's perfomance previously. Ramos is fundamentally a brilliant footballer that any team would be happy to have, and his physical, old-fashioned style is one of the main reasons for this - getting physical with the opposition's best player has been a widely accepted part of football since its inception and Ramos is the prime example of this. Real Madrid had the better team, squad depth and performance and blaming Sergio Ramos solely for Liverpool's defeat when their best subs were Lallana and Dom Solanke is insane - Salah is a very good player without doubt but he couldn't have turned that game in Liverpool's favour.

With LFC being priced @ 3.10 pre-match it gets silly stating "Real would have won either way". That your conviction, not how chance and the game of football works. Loosing Salah greatly diminished LFC's chances of winning the trophy, and even though you don't accredit this incident a lot of value, the people willing to shed some money on the outcome clearly did.

I highly disagree, 'they would have lost anyway'. How can you say that? I'm not a Pool fan but imo it's pretty clear Ramos had every intention to injure Salah. Before the injury, Pool were all over Real. If Salah would not have been subbed injured, I'd say Pool had the better chance to win the game.

I'd say Pool had the better chance to win the game." Not according to the bookmakers....

Real the favourites b4 the match started. Obviously even bigger favourites when Salah got subbed. Don't think LFC were dominant enough the first 30mins in the extent that they suddenly were rated favs at that point.

Think your point about 'they would have lost anyway' is a good one. That's a statement that doesn't make sense, no one can know for certain what would have happened if ifs and buts were beers and nuts.

I don't see what the point is of bringing up the bookies odds? I'm judging based on the first 30 minutes with Salah on the pitch. Sure they didn't have big chances but they were all over on Real's half. Game totally changed when they brought Lallana on. But well, that's Lallana haha

There was certainly a big transitional moment when Salah went off. Liverpool looked in control while they were pressing. For some reason they decided to stop pressing when Salah went off, which means they needed to start defending, and usually that is not good for Liverpool.

Look at bookies odds as the same as the captain poll on FFS. The captain poll is'nt allways gonna lead you to the best choice each round, but its gonna lead you to get a fairly acurrate suggestion as to who's gonna do well. This is a result of the collective information possessed by all of those who are voting.

When Real Madrid are favourites ahead of the clash, its beacuse the collective information of those taking bets leads Real to be priced lower than Pool, making them favs. This clearly indicates that the most likely scenario is Real lifting the trophy.

This is'nt to say that we wont get an upset. And Real, though favs, werent big favs. So the chance that LFC was gonna take itwas definately there. The only thing i was pointing out was that LFC didnt dominate the first 30 to the extent that they had shifted the odds in their favour. Meaning, the most likely scenario was still Real Madrid to win.

Well obviously they have the better odds, besides Salah and Firmino, VVD maaaaaybe, nobody of that Pool teams gets anywhere near the Real squad. But seems like we differ in opinion on the perception of the pressure Pool put on Real at the beginning.

Sure.... I'm okay with perceiving things differently. But I monitored the in game prices in the 20th min, and the market still suggested Real Madrid were the favourites. So yeah, it might all have turned out very differently if Salah hadn't gotten that injury, but Real were still perceived to be the favourites by the masses.

'They would have lost anyway' was a throwaway comment that I should have rephreased, but it was based around my view that this Real side would have won whatever the circumstances - the fact that arguably the world's best player barely showed up and they were still on top for most of the match was tantamount to this.

Mane should be 9.5 again and I think him, Firmino and Robo could lead to much more balanced squad than the one with Salah in midfield.

Following on from my comment about Liverpool above - can Salah live up to a 13m+ price tag and at least match his output from this season, or will Mane and Firmino, likely to come in at under £3m cheaper each, be better value and be more likely to share some of his output?

If his production remains similar to this season? Then, yeah, for sure. If his pts drop to the lvl of Kane this season, then my guess is no. Really depends on how well you think Salah/LFC will perform.

Also important to remember that, although the media like to tell this story of an underdog coming from nowhere to have the most amazing season, that is almost entirely nonsense.

              He was incredible for Roma.

                This is spot on!

I think that narrative is silly. Even thought he's clearly made his entrance amongst the very elite players this seasons, he's actually been colse to "world class" 3 years straight.

He has clearly transitioned well. There is no guarantee that when a player changes league their numbers carry over, and his have not only held up, but also improved slightly.

On his Roma numbers I would pay £12 million for him.

If he was to replicate his number from this season, one could argue the case that he'd be worth an outlay of 16m

Mane and Firmino as a combination looks a tempting alternative but it's the captaincy thats the issue.

A team with Mane, Firmino, one of Kane/ Aubameyang and
one of Sterling/ KBD could give you 4 options, hopefully with money still to go around.

I'm not accusing Ramos of intentionally injuring Salah, but it looked extremely suspect. The way he dragged Salah down holding onto his arm. Mix this in with Ramos's reputation and history, people will obviously question the act. I for one am just gutted for Mo after the season he had, i hope to god he can make the world cup fully fit, he deserves it.

I'm not convinced either but elbowing Karius deliberately didn't help his case.

Who knows what tactics to deal with Salah were devised, but I imagine any team attempting to "nulify" his threat will have methods when entering into 50:50s that might "reduce" his influence shall we say. Perhaps I'm being cynical.

Ramos is a complete dirtbag but I don’t think he intentionally injured Salah, it was just one of those things.

The sad thing for Ramos is he will be more remembered for his aggression than his football which he is actually very good at

I agree. Ramos is a fantastic player. Don't agree that it wasn't deliberate though. He knew exactly what he was doing. A normal action would be to detangle yourself grom the opponent before he hits the deck.

It was incredibly reckless from Ramos. He knew full well that Salah's arm was tangled in with his and that his size and strength would allow him to fall the way he did and potentially do some damage. Very sinister IMO and he could have avoided the fall if he'd been more sporting.

Agree. If I was a VAR, I'd advise a red card tbh, however extreme some people might feel that is. Dangerous + not unintentional. But I could see why a yellow might be a more likely decision, as refs are given a get-out by the subjectivity of intention, and lack cahoonas in these big matches where more is at stake.

No card at all, though, is an easy call for a ref in real-time, yet clearly incorrect in my view. If Salah weren't so modest and in pain, we might have seen a big complaint from him against Ramos.

But whatever, nothing will be done now. Amazing what some players can get away with. It really punishes players who care about the wellbeing of their fellow humans by avoiding sickening injuries! Haha

It was like a UFC arm take down. Ramos knew what he was doing and could have avoided the collision. I've played the game and when your arm gets tangled with another player it's obvious that falling while tangled can cause real damage.

It was the defenders equivalent to a striker falling over in the box as soon as they feel contact. The smile afterwards too.

If it was just the one GK error, coupled with a Bale wonder goal then it would be easier to take.

If it was an unfortunate accidental twist of an ankle or a random groin strain for Salah, then it would be easier to take.

But the way things transpired make it very difficult to take. Gutted.

Yep and also Liverpool looked in the ascendency and I think chances would have come Salahs way. Madrid got on top when Liverpool were recovering from his departure.

All in all very frustrating and not the conclusion that Klopp, Salah or Liverpool deserved.

Weird how Madrid haven’t looked convincing at all, all season. Start off every game getting dominated and reliant on opposition missing chances, then the tie somehow just seems to turn into their favour.

Even as a United fan happy with the result, I feel somewhat robbed of a spectacle and a chance to see if Liverpool could go toe-to-toe with Real. From the opening 30 minutes, it looks like they were more than a match.

Can't legislate for Salah's injury, but Klopp has had more than long enough to invest in a keeper. Pep realised Bravo was a bust quickly and brought in Ederson to rectify his mistake and he has been tremendous, but Klopp seems to be in the 'keep hoping and praying he develops' camp. Too late now.

Does anyone think that Liverpool aren't fully utilising Andy Robertson's attacking strengths and that gem of a left foot? He gets forward on occasions but I would like to see him given more license to drive forward and inter-change with Milner more often as he's capable of beating his man and putting in a great delivery.

He absoloutly does, last night he couldn’t commit as far forward as he’s like because of how dangerous Real are.

Come gameweek 1 when Liverpool have Huddersfield at home, he will be in everyone’s team.

Last night there seemed to be a lot of space down the left flank in the first 30 mins and I think Klopp should have noticed it and tried to exploit it with Roberston & Milner.

Agree he's a shoe in for the new season. Moreno well behind him now and will probably play cup games.

Spending a day on a bus after a heavy night of consolation drinking really isn’t something I would recommend.

Really hope the club announces something (Fekir) to take away from the heartbreak.

First 20-30 minutes played out exactly as expected, just a shame that some incredible striker of luck occurred. Can’t think of a more unusual final.
