Defence proves popular in Russia v Saudia Arabia

World Cup Fantasy managers have a first chance to see their players in action as Russia take on Saudi Arabia in the opening fixture.

The showdown takes place in the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the venue which will host next month’s final.

Despite both sides combining for just five clean sheets in 22 matches, defensive assets have proved the most popular for the encounter.

Goalkeeper Abdullah Al-Mayouf (£4.0m) comes into the opener with five percent ownership on McDonald’s FIFA World Cup Fantasy, more than any other in the match.

Meanwhile, Russian counterpart Igor Akinfeev (£5.0m) and Mohamed Alburayk (£4.0m) both have a three percent share of worldwide managers.

    Anyone play FiT WC fantasy ? Got 2 questions:

    1. Does captain changers works as in Fifa fantasy?
    2. When to make transfers during a GW?
    For example I have Cavani playing tomorow and I want to sell him to get Mbappe who plays next day. When can I make the transfer?

      It's my understanding that transfers are only between rounds, in other words I think you would have to wait till the end of this week

      You can schedule a transfer in iTeam on the app. So you could sort it so the transfer you wish to make happens automatically. I do believe then you’ll get both sets of points in the game week

      In fairness to them they have played some very good teams in friendly's before the WC but the results did not go their way in the main.

      This Saudi team is the softest game they have had in a long time.
