Uruguay attack overlooked as Fantasy managers back Godin

World Cup Fantasy managers and football fans alike are overwhelmingly expecting a big win for Uruguay as they face Saudi Arabia.

While Oscar Tabarez’s outfit looked laboured in their opening match against Egypt, Saudi Arabia were easily exposed by Russia last week.

The hosts were winless in seven matches but fired five goals past Juan Antonio Pizzi’s Green Falcons in the first fixture of Group A.

At the other end of the field, despite a fast start, they asked hardly any questions of Russia’s makeshift defence.

Accordingly, Diego Godin (£5.5m) goes into another match as the most-owned asset, now with 4.9% more than the 20 percent registered ahead of Gameround 1.

Not only are World Cup Fantasy managers expecting a clean sheet from the La Celeste, but they scored more set-piece goals than any other side in qualifying with Godin at the heart of that.

He had more attempts on goal from set-piece situations than any other player (16), while his centre-back partner Jose Gimenez (£5.5m) scored from a Carlos Sanchez (£7.5m) free-kick against Egypt.

Meanwhile, Uruguay’s premium striker partnership of Luis Suarez (£10.5m) and Edinson Cavani (£9.5m) continues to be overlooked by Fantasy managers.

The Barcelona man has not had a percentage increase in ownership since the 1-0 win over Egypt, while Cavani comes into Uruguay’s second fixture backed by only an additional 2.3% of managers.

The two of them may have struggled to get on the score-sheet against a fairly well organised Egypt backline but they combined for 29 goal involvements in Uruguay’s international matches since October 2015.

Starting Line-ups

URUGUAY XI (4-4-2): Muslera; Caceres, Jimenez, Godin, Varela; Rodriguez, Bentancur, Vecino, Sanchez; Suarez, Cavani

SAUDI ARABIA XI (4-1-4-1): Owais; Shahrani, Albulayhi, Osama Hawsawi, Burayk; Otayf; Al-Dawsari, Al-Jassam, Al-Faraj, Bahbir; Al-Muwallad.

Niece piece by Shearer. I was lucky enough to meet him a few times at Blackburn as part of the hospitality thing. He really is a funny bloke and a much bigger personality than he shows on the panel.

I've watched a long interview with him on youtube and and what really impressed me was the way he was taking about people from his past and how he remember every single one of them by full name.

He's a very big larger than life personality when you se him...far more than he comes across on that panel. Very likeable and funny.

I'm sure he is, in the interview I've seen he came across as very down to earth genuine person - someone who havent been change at all by money and fame.

Not Lukaku. Don't you have someone who has played their second?

I kept him as (c) by mistake - but still have Eriksen, Siggy, Coutinho and Kane to play so may yet twist. Though temping to just play safe!

FFS Muslera is on my bench even though I specifically subbed him in for Uzoho. I pressed confirm and all. How?

Sounds like you either did not press confirm or you did it on the GW3 tab. Unlucky 🙁

Check that you didn't make the change for round 3 instead of round 2

I keep saying it. If you log on sometimes (in my case from "favourites") the site puts you on to next weeks fixtures by default. We need to be really careful.

I did exactly the same thing when I subbed in Lukaku...except I hadn't....

No penalty in the earlier two matches. Surely there is going to be a penalty in Iran vs Spain. Would be interesting to see who takes it for Spain.

Well somehow in my frantic WC I ended up with Iran GK....so him saving a Costa pen would be stuff of dreams.

I'm happy with one from Suarez. Matches Ronaldo and beter than Cavani. If all my players scored 6 points I would have a decent score for the round.

Hope so. Should have information about who needs to do what to qualify after this round of matches and that should inform the WC.

Yep , more info. Also more chance to bring in the odd cheapie that may or may not go into the round of 16. As I recall from the last one having the odd cheapie was imperative.

As per Diesel , more info and fixture switch for guys loaded on Belgium , England and other players that had great fixtures in 1 and 2
Importantly, to identify any 4.0 players that you can carry forward to allow more flexibility

Before we’d seen anything looked like Portugal, Brazil, urugauy and Spain. Switzerland fixture swing for the better France, Morocco for the worse after GW1. Chance to have Lukaku and Kane both against Panama, chance to get Salah after injury. Nothing wrong with a GW2 wildcard

'Burger King's Russia franchise have had to apologise after they did a social media campaign offering a lifetime supply of Whopper burgers and 3 Million Russian Roubles to women if they get impregnated by footballers during the World Cup!'
