Best Huddersfield players to sign on FPL in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

Huddersfield Town made a mockery of the doom-mongering pre-season predictions to avoid relegation in their debut Premier League campaign.

The Terriers, who were odds-on with the bookmakers to make an instant return to the Championship before a ball was kicked, only fell into the drop zone once in the entire season and finished four points ahead of 18th-placed Swansea City.

Town’s squad was among the cheapest in Fantasy Premier League last season, with not a single player having a starting price of more than £6.0m. The same is true for the coming campaign, with striker Steve Mounie the most expensive asset in David Wagner’s squad.

Jonas Lossl, Christopher Schindler and Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen broke the 100-point barrier in FPL last season and all three have been priced up at £4.5m again this time after their value-for-money performances in 2017/18. Midfielder Aaron Mooy, Town’s highest-scoring outfield player in FPL last season, is also a non-mover at £5.5m.

Only the sides who finished in the top seven kept more clean sheets than Huddersfield (ten) last season, though the Terriers’ concerning form in the second half of 2017/18 – in which they won just three of their final 20 matches and recorded as many shut-outs – is worth noting to Fantasy managers ahead of the coming season.

In-depth data on Huddersfield’s season is available in the Members’ Area, while Fantasy Football Scout members can also read our detailed analysis of the salient statistics in the article below.

    Hows this team? 3-4-3

    Ederson - 4.0
    Bailly - Coleman - Cedric - Tomkins - Peltier
    Salah - Sanchez - Walcott - Deulofeu - 4.5
    Auba - Firmino - 6.0

Are you confident in Bailly starting? So many centrebacks at Utd - Smalling, Jone,s Bailly, Rojo, Lindelol, all have to share minutes

Out of the frying pan and into the fire there though! Lol

I’m just forking out for a 6.5 & a 6.0 (currently VVD/Alonso, but with Conte gone might go Mendy for Alonso) & watch Bailly for a week or two.

Him PVA & Coleman have to be monitored very closely as they could be points machines

FWIW I have a very similar side but cheap defenders

        Fab / 4.0

        TAA / Tomkins / Holebas / Daniels / Bednarek

        Salah / Sanchez / Silva / Walcott / Deulofeu

        Kun / Firmino / 4.5

Can’t see anyone being within 10 points of city this year. Will be very important to time their players right & get a good share of their points.

The whole Mahrez, Sané, Sterling, Dilva, Bilva, Jesus, Kun roster worries me though.

KDB, Mendy and one from that top list may be the way to go

Liverpool and United might challenge, Arsenal should hopefully also be better this season. Chelsea and Tottenham are lagging behind on the market.

19 points was such a gap last year though, it’s way too far for them to properly challenge imo.

Even if city regressed by a couple of points (I don’t think they will, if anything they’ll be better) and Utd improved by 10 points, your still talking Babur an 8-10 point gap at best...

Could be over by Early December, and I think definitely will be over after the Christmas fixtures

No way, just watch. If one gains, someone loses, most of top clubs will gain and City won't be able to achieve 100 points again.

If Zaha stays at Palace, Mili could be the Mili from this season.

Martial could be astronomical value if Mourinho just bloody picks him.

Mkhi, Theo, Siggy & Ramsey could all be heroes.

Deulefoeu is interesting at this point, but I’m sceptical.

Groß is surprising,y absent from the RMT’s

Cairney & Ralls have potential value at 5.0’s with set pieces...

      There must be many others

They rotate well enough, but I assume you're going to play them both? If not, then 6.0 is a lot to spend on the bench. You could get Deu, or better still, Hughes if he looks nailed. But I'm personally going for Deulofeu as my main guy and looking for someone cheaper to cover any poor fixtures.

If they will both play both weeks for you, then Pereyra, Hughes and Deu all look better options atm

I have reservations about his attitude. Decent enough back up for a small fee though. I'm happy enough with it.

I reckon we might see Shaqiri off next summer for a little bit of profit given how shrewd your transfer committee are. The goalkeeping situation is weird because whilst all three keepers quite clearly aren't LFC standard an Alisson signing isn't viable, the transfer policy won't pay for Real/Barca prices.

Signing Shaqiri doesn't affect signing a GK. But agreed, he is very stubborn in the market. Which has its pros and cons like any other approach.

Better to pick Salah, captain him, and then be ready to move in he unlikely event he shows loss of form, gets injured, suspended etc... far too risky to play it any other way imo!

Yeah I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but Salah is probably a good pick 🙂 if you go without him & he doesn’t score, you will get an unbelievably good OR from it, but vice versa if he scores & you don’t have him.

Maybe look at a little redistribution of Mane/Kun > Salah & Arnie/TosunAustin/Wood/King with 2.0 extra to get an extra city attacking mid for Moura - Mahre! Sané or KDB if you can stretch.

But if you have your heart set on Moura, and do the above & Moura scores inGW1 you’ll be kicking yourself so it’s a tough call.... but Salah looks a very necessary

He’s due. It feels like the big centre backs have been more threatening at the WC with refs clamping down on holding at corners.

    A. Firmino + Jota/Mili
    B. Zaha + Mahrez

If Man U sign Toby Alderweireld assume he will be nailed in defence but who would be most at risk from among existing Man U defenders ?

    1. @fpl_phenom

Well I think it would be him and Bailly as first choice centre halves

    2. Parm

Everyone is a risk besides Valencia and de Gea.

Even before any potential centre-back signing Mourinho still has five potential centre-backs, all of whom he has given time/opportunity to over the last two seasons. It's probably expected that Smalling & Bailly will feature in the first week or two given that Jones, Lindelöf & Rojo are all going to be given time off following their World Cup campaigns but Mourinho has never really had a true favourite partnership other than who he has had available.
Given that Bailly & Lindelöf are his two (bloody expensive) signings during his tenure you'd expect him to favour them but they've never in fact played together as a partnership and only once featured in a back three together.

It really is up in the air and I doubt pre-season will give you any hints.

As an England fan, I've started to enjoy and embrace the hate. Just think how annoyed these little gremlins must be to constantly pounce on the failure of England.

I have a Welsh friend on Facebook who constantly changed his profile pic to our opponents flags lol. The hate is real.

    Does this look ok:

    Foster - Gauita
    Robertson - TAA - Coleman - Cedric - Peltier
    Salah - Mkhi - Mahrez - Jota - Cairney
    Aguero - Zaha - Tosun

  22. Dušan Citizen

So we could have 3 4.0 starting defenders this season - Wan-Bissaka, Schelotto and Peliter.

That would help us to have 2 expensive defenders and Burnley def alongside 2 4.0 defs.

        Bernardo is a left back.
WB still has good chances to persuade RH that he is good enough to be in first 11.

    Ederson (Speroni)
    Bailly Christenson Keane Robertson (Bedernek)
    Salah Sane Mahrez (Cairney) (Stephens)
    Tosun Firmino Zaha

Will wait and see in pre-season for Bailly and Christenson to hopefully come good. Any suggestions on who to drop to get either Sanchez or Aguero into this team?

    Living Vessel Team:

    Ederson.

    Bailey - AAT - Coleman.

    Salah - Sane - Surman - Deulo.

Wouldn't have Bailly on the ghost ship team, he's injury prone and not nailed. Coleman also injury prone. Why Surman?
