Best Manchester United players to sign in 2018/19 – Complete Members’ Analysis

Defence looks to be where Fantasy Premier League managers will concentrate on in 2018/19 when it comes to Manchester United.

No top flight side kept more clean sheets than the Red Devils last season thanks to some stellar work from David De Gea.

However, Jose Mourinho’s men have some work to do to convince Fantasy managers to invest in their attack after an underwhelming end to 2017/18 offensively.

We’ve analysed all the data on Man United to work out which players look best for investment this season.

Fantasy Football Scout members can view that data in the Members’ Area and also read our full analysis of it below to help them pick the best possible FPL team this season.

Had everyone gone off Douglas? Not seeing him mention much anymore. Why???

He is still in my team - but currently not playing in pre-season due to a minor injury.

Better options in defense atm, such as Shaw. No guarantee he can produce at PL level

Completely disagree that Shaw is better pick. Transfer waiting happen. Douglas will play every game when fit and be well worth 5.0

A much better starting option than any 5.0 midfielder imo.

Salah's price is so annoying. Every team I do without him looks much better, but if he scores as big as last season, just captain him every week and the rest of your team only needs to score an average of 47 points per week between the 10 of them to get you right up there...

    Say 2400 is a summit-bothering total
    Minus 606 for salah captain = 1794
Divided by 38 for points per gameweek = 47.2
Divided by 10 for points per player = 4.7

Seems like a no brainer, but finding probably 3 quality sub-6m mid/strikers is a massive challenge.

It does sound simple. But getting remaining players who will get you 47 points each week is going to be quite difficult imo

Well, maybe - it will be hard to top the season he had last year.

But playing in a better team than last year gives him a chance of replicating his form.

Easier than finding 11 players to get you 5.2 per week (2400 ÷ 38, then divided by 12 - taking into account captain).

Clearly it won't be easy or we'd all be in the top 1000 every year!

    Ederson - Speroni
    Davies - Baily - Robo - Azpi - Peltier
    Salah - Fernadinho - Gray - Fabinho - Stephens
    Kane - Kun - Kamara

Yes i know mid is weak, could downgrade Eder to Rui and Kun to Firm and take 1 or 2 "better" mids, but right now i like her.

Looks good. Would swap Shaw for Bailly. Are you planning on using your wc early? You may have to offload some of those United assets. United fan here but don't expect much from us this season with Jose in terms of attack especially in the first few weeks with some big names out. Would swap Sanchez for Mane or downgrade to maybe Siggy and spread the money elsewhere.
I know he said shaw would play but take his word at face value. Doesn't like shaw and martial. You don't want to get burned there. Assume your gks rotate well.
Advice either Tosun or Zaha for Wood depending on pre-season

Yeah Shaw and Martial really punts, if the can’t nail down the position I will switch early on (yeah I know Mourinho doesn’t like them, don’ really get why though).

Shaw and Martial seem to be a bit risky. Personally I'd consider Siggy and Sakho as more nailed, longer term options. Otherwise a really strong well balanced team with a great front line.

Alright chaps and chapettes, are people getting Kane in for GW1 and are people gonna realistically be able to have Kane and Salah this year?

Probably not is the answer to both, but really depends on just how good each of their form becomes.

Kane GW1 no way. Salah absolutely.
If Kane explodes I'll need a wild card to catch him but I'm expecting that not to happen early doors.
If Salah bombs I can transfer him out for anyone, but I'm anticipating him as my perma-captain.

From having two 4.5 bench fodder midfielders in all my drafts until yesterday, I now have 5 playing midfielders and a benching dilemma.

    Schmeichel, 4.0
    Robertson, VVD, Shaw, Douglas (Bennett)
    Salah, Mahrez, Martial, Ely, Richarlison
    Obama-yang (Wood, Sorløth)

Shaw and Martial probably is overload, looking at it rationally.

Would you go back to Firmino and McDonald over Wood and Martial?

Thanks, and Liverpool defence is just a placeholder more than anything. I’ll spend 11 on the VVD, Shaw spots but haven’t decided fully.

Probably should only have posted my attack instead of my full team, because I wasn’t looking for answers about the defence right now 🙂

I bloody love your defence actually.
I think Wood is a great early punt; I'd be tweaking the midfield - Martial is too short-term and i wouldn't get excited by Richarl until he proves himself. I'd be looking at Sane, but then again I'd just be telling you to copy half my squad!

I don't think it's a great idea benching 6.5 on the bench. I also think if you're going to take punts that will get dropped, you should stick to one so when other problems crop up you're safe. With that in mind I would downgrade Elyonoussi to a 4.5 and upgrade Martial a bit, so Shaw is your only punt.

          • 7 Years

You could, but I'm not sure about Sané as an option. I really like the Wood punt, but really it's up to you which of your 6.5s you downgrade to make your bench more cost effective, and what you want to do with the money. Good luck 🙂

The reason I'm starting with proper money on my bench is because one or two of my first choices may be rested or start as subs due to world cup fatigue. I'd rather they're on my bench for a week than I have to make a forced transfer or two for GW2. i.e. special circumstances.

Seems like the general consensus is to use your wc third or fourth week on here. Anyone (like myself) planning for first 5 gws, not wanting to make a transfer for first 2 so would have 2 ft third gw and then wc around gw 13

If possible avoid wildcard early...our purposes here to find the best possible player gw1 who get points consistenly.

I think it’s important to be flexible.

I’m not planning on having to wildcard. I’m not planning to have to make any transfers. Naturally, injuries will occur and players will unexpectedly overperform and underperform their expectations.

Ideally would save a transfer until week 3 but really have no idea.

        Flexibilty is key indeed.

My early drafts assumed the world cup returnees would all miss 2-3 GWs, so I'd planned to wild card early. Now I'm much less certain - it seems many players who world cupped may be ready GW1. I just can't tell so I've got a draft with the players I really want with the likelihood that a couple of cuppers will sit out on my bench. So now what I've got is a squad built for the long term without resorting to a wild card, with viable subs.

    First draft. How's it looking?

    Ederson - (Fab)
    Mendy - Coleman - Shaw - Cedric - (Wan-B)
    Salah - Mahrez - Martial - (Cairney - 4.5)
    Laca - Firmino - Tosun

Weak bench but that's how I roll.

Nice team, tbf Cairney in set pieces, Gunnarsson or Stephens are regular 2-3 pointers and Wan Bissaka could play regular with TFM gone

Fabregas excelled under Wenger and Pep, but then had to endure 4 years of defensive football under Mourinho and Conte.

I really hope Sarri decides to make him a key player, he could be an assist and bap magnet this season.

This is the thing. Sarri doesn't like to rest and rotate and I'm not sure Fabs has a full season of high-intensity pressing in him. RLC on the other hand ...

Richarlison more of interest if he goes to Everton?

I had him last season and was so hyped that I had this cheap star scoring/assisting from the start, but then stuck with him for like 2 months when his form died.

Bit like Bailly, not sure I want to get burnt again.

I like more attackig threat in defence myself so i would consider

      Bailly 》 Shaw
      Delufeou 》 Hughes
      And either
      Cedric 》 Coleman
      or
      Tomkins 》 PVA

Just a thought but looks good either way

OK, I probably overthink this big time, but I like the idea to play Ederson, Allison in the easy/ home games. The go well with each other.

Or should I simple go for Fab, and Adrien as backup so that I don't have to think about it for the rest of the season? Plus saving 2.0 to upgrade elsewhere.

Ryan Fraser is one of my favourite players and I like to keep him in my team as a 5th mid.

But at 5.5 he’s more expensive this year, so how much playing time do you see him getting? 7 / 10 matches?

    Any Bournemouth fans about?

    Aubam, Firmino, Quaner

I'm considering starting with a 4 - 4 - 2. There's still about 20 days til kickoff so another 120 - 150 transfers and iterations to work through. I'm keen to see who Sarri will play at the back. There could be some magnificent pickings in defence this year.
