The perfect H/A rotation of Bournemouth and Crystal Palace with the two solid picks of Tomkins and Steve Cook seems very hard to look past. But, should I therefore get Peltier over Wan-Bis?

Nah. Wan Bis looks a defo starter. Peltier picked up a knock. Should be OK mind.

Slots in defence being taken up by premiums now though with VVD, Robbo, Bailly, Luiz, Me day all popular

I've gone VVD. First name on the team sheet and will not be rotated. Robertson could rotate around CLeague matches. But it really is a toss the coin decision. Based on my choice, you'd be better off with Robertson!!!!

I'm going TAA but if your forcing me to pick between those two, I'll go Robo. Reason being I simply think he will score more over the season. Not by much mind you. If your uncomfortable with him being rotated/rested the maybe better with VVD though

Robbo. Gets assists and baps regularly. VVD’s goal threat is almost non existent

      VVD:
Pro’s - will not be rotated, Targeted at every corner in every game, takes the odd long range pot shot, takes the odd DFK
Con’s - underperforms a little on Baps, hasn’t got a lot of assist potential, unless flick ons from corners

      Robertson:
Pro’s - more attacking role from play, gets more assists
Con’s - can lose games to Moreno, probably won’t score as many goals as VVD

      Overall - VVD for me

I would strongly advise 3 Liverpool players though! They are the best value in the game pound for pound, and great fixtures. One of Firmino/Mané, and one of VVD/Robbo to accompany Salah.

No point messing about with Alison, TAA, Lovren, Keita etc imo 🙂

5 goals in last 64 games, and I think he has underperformed attacking wise. I would estimate 10 goals in next 64 games to catch things up. Get on board, the goals are coming

That's the problem though, VVD is "capped" on how many attacking returns he can get. Obviously goals are worth more but I think people are forgetting how dangerous Robertson was last season. You can reasonably expect a few goals and a lot of assists, (for a defender), along with the bonus points. On the occasion he's benched your bench will come in anyway.

            I've got Robertson and TAA.

Although I would add that I would feel comfortable with either of VVD or Robertson, I think they're among the best options available anyway.

From the WHU-Angers highlights Arnie still looked very involved - on the goal Cresswell throw-in to Arnie, forward pass along sideline back to Cresswell who crossed and Chicha scored. So I guess assist Cresswell who also looked to be on free kicks. Arnie seemed fixture proof end of last year and seems to get goals from being relentless. I'm keeping Arnie for GW1 for now (but also might consider swapping for Zaha if he is still at Palace).

I see a lot of people going for Mahrez in their RMT
What is the reasons behind this?

I know he has a full pre season but come the 1st game of the season will he be 1st choice on the flanks over Sane and Sterling?
If im paying 9.0 for a midfielder i want him to be pretty much nailed on, that's a lot of my budget if he doesn't even play

The way i see it her was bought for covering those 2 players so will be heavily rotated
not to mention competition from Delph or Zinchenko who can also play on the wings
even though he cost 60million, Man City can afford 60million bench warmers so price tag wont sway me

Also there is the ? mark on if he can make the step up and fit into Peps style of football and he isn't exactly a role model for attitude.
Ihmo wouldn't expect him to accumulate the same points horde as he did at Leicester now hes not the main man

Or i could be completely wrong and do a Salah
    but i doubt it 🙂

I agree with the attitude point, he’s a superstar if doesn’t over picked I think he will spit his dummy out and I also don’t think he will suit the style of play but that’s just personal opinion

4 of the top-scoring midfielders last season were City; rotation didn't make them duds. I'll take a few games when he's dropped as I always ensure my bench is adequate.

I am currently spending 26.5 on my 5 defenders. I know a lot of people say its a mistake to over invest in defence, but with only 8.5 spent on keepers, I am happy with these defenders. Do I need a rethink? or do you guys think this is a viable strategy?

I'm the opposite on 21.5 but it allows me to have Auba, Aguero, Arnie, Salah and Mahrez (if I keep him). Surely won't be my final team but just to say an opposing point of view.

yeah thanks, really appreciate that, I think its the fact that I really like lots of 6.0 and 6.5 options in midfield that have led me to spend the money here.

    5. Andy_Social

There's value in defence. I'm going big in defence and even bigger in midfield with the intention of playing 451/541 most weeks. With Salah perma-captained I don't see the need for 10m+ strikers.

The defenders need clean sheets to be worth it though, so that means all regular starters need to be from Top 6 sides (same goes for midfield).

      1. Gazpilicueta
        • 9 Years
        5 years, 8 months ago

yeah I agree, I have reached a lot of the same conclusions. why spend so much on a big striker if hes not my captain? although I am thinking of going with one 11m striker, probably Aguero, because sometimes he scores 3,4 or 5 goals 🙂

    6. Fassy
      • 5 Years

I'm on 27.5 with Robertson, Mendy, Van Dijk, Luiz and Wan-Bissaka. Everyone should aim for value and it shouldn't matter if you spend 6 on a defender, midfielder or forward. It's very difficult to find a non-defender of 6 million who has more value in comparision with Robertson, Van Dijk and Mendy.

Taking a punt on schlupp is it too risky? He’s only 4.5 he’s potentially OOP playing in midfield can easily become Cedric Daniels Tomkins after GW1 if he doesn’t play

I'd say one such punt is worth having a go. You can afford one easy transfer if he turns out to be a non-starter.

Cairney or Hughes as 5th mid?
Not keen on 4.5 option unless they are nailed.
Any love for Kanté or Jorginho? Will they have the potential to score more points than the above?
    Any thoughts guys?

I’m on Hughes atm dunno how long that will last though as I change my team atleast 100 times a day

Yeah same here, Hughes too atm but can’t help looking at 5m Chelsea options, so tempting just to give it a whirl.

People on here seem to think casuals just pick Kante but he was the highest scoring 5.0 player last season and out scored the nearest 4.5 by 14 points so it’s up to you if you think the extra 0.5 is worth that.

Well I’d rather pay the extra 0.5m if the players is nailed and actually scores points. He’ll most likely only be used as an auto sub in case one of my premiums don’t play for some reason but there’s nothing more annoying than an auto sub fail! I am running with a set and forget keeper and just a 4.0 fodder so I’ll take that risk, but not with outfields.

Doubt it that’s why I’m on Hughes now, but just thinking Longer term. Wait and see I guess!

I am also keeping an eye on him, think he could do well this year, but I had thought he wasn't expected to play first couple of GW so still time to see how Chelsea does as a whole...

Yeah I think I’ll stick with Hughes and see what the CS brings as far as Jorginho is concerned, but deffo keeping a watch for when Kanté starts playing.

I’m tempted by Jorginho. Could do as well as Fernandinho last season.

Yes, Fernandinho is another great example. I think I’d rather have Jorg, Fern or Kanté over Cairney who isn’t proven and jump on him if he fires but there seems to be a lot of love for him here.

The main case against Fernandinho is he takes up a valuable City spot that you might want for tripling up on at a future date. I prefer my 5th mid to be from a team there's no danger of tripling ever.

Yeah good shout, plus he’s 5.5 too. I don’t think I’m going to triple up on Chelsea, I only have Pedro right now but even he’s being monitored in the CS before I commit. Maybe Hughes is looking like the right decision atm anyway

Hard to say, but at least you can do a 2FT with Robbo/VVD to TAA and have a million to upgrade another player if TAA looks like being a regular starter.

Not sure whether to go with 3 up front with Austin 3rd striker, or 2 up front (Arnie/King) and a back with with Mendy

Mendy vs Austin basically.... need some news from Southampton about austin

Cheers, Kamara + Quaner looked viable until recent signings their clubs have added.
Gary Madine could be used as Cardiff's plan b if they go route one.

I’m going with Garry Madine as Cardiff’s outpost up front as they defend desperately.

I'm with you on Madine. Also as he has less than 1% ownership his price will unlikely drop (if it even can drop below 4.0?)

Looking across the RMTs I’m wondering if Sigurdsson is being overlooked? Fantasy legend, possibly penalties, more attacking manager...?

Pre-season hasn’t been great but it’s not often a reflection of what happens when the league starts. What do we think? He’s in my team and I think his value is exceptional

Definately, huge value on him this season. He is going back to his number 10 role now Rooney has gone. I'm predicting 160 points from him.

They probably will. McArthur should be moved out to Schlupps position.

Hope not, I've got him. Meyer plays more central so if Zaha leave Schlupp has left wing to himself.

Aguero - guarentees goals, takes pens, great captain pick.
Bilva -They bought him for 50mil and made 53 apps for them last season in all comps. Both will get around 170 points.
