Hi, I know there’s not been a lot of talk about draft leagues this pre season but I quite enjoyed it last time so I’ve set one up. It would be cool to get a league of people together that take it seriously! If anyone fancies joining the code is 207948-51831. There’s a maximum of 10 spaces and the draft is 15.30 today.
    Come on guys!

Over the season I’d say Eriksen, but when both are fit & playing I’d say Mané. Mané looks lined up for a good start to the season so I would be backing him and taking the points before his inevitable injury/red card, then swap to Eriksen or another 9.5

Eriksen may be the more obvious answer at first thought but I it's too hard to predict. To me, Mane has more potential to improve on previous years. With a good start, his confidence may go high and the rest of the season turns from a snowball into an avalanche.

    Man United Defence!

Opinions please, I am looking for a sure starter, hopefully for the entire season, attacking threat is a bonus, but what I am really looking for is someone to net me the most clean sheets possible, for the best value for money, and the least risk of rotation and/or injury. Who do you like and why? thanks in advance!

I see, thank u. I just need the cheapest option, that will give 2 points when needed. I will prefer playing 4 4 2 than 3 5 2,

Dale Stephens is probably your safest bet, played over 3000 minutes last season for Brighton. Seen a few people picking Danny Ward but I'm doubtful he'll start regularly.

I think Ralls was the only Cardiff midfielder not to get heavily rotated last season and they've brought in Murphy which complicates things cos he can play on the wing or midfield. One of Gunnarson or Ward will probably start but for 4.5 mid I just want a consistent 2 pointer.

    2. POLSKA GOLA
      • 10 Years

Masuaku will start in defence in place of injured Cresswell, he’s nailed until Creswell returns, afterwards he’ll fight for midfield place

    1) Who is the best 4,5 mid for you?

    2) Would you rather have Cairney or Mee as the first name on the bench and occasional rotation option? Or any other 5.0 mid/def for that matter.

    1. POLSKA GOLA
      • 10 Years

At 5.0 Mee is too expensive for a bench defender, get 4.5 defender if you want to bench him

To suggest Richarlison or Jota will have a better start to the season than Ozil is not that hard to imagine.

Ozil has a season to prove himself on a consistent level for me.

I was determined to not pick players that were involved in the later stages of the world cup. I do not want players that are not going to be involved in the early weeks of the season or not at their best due to a lack of pre-season conditioning. I feel this has left me with a shortage of good captaincy options.

I do not think that Salah offers value at his new price but I cannot find a team without him that is better than my team with him. At the moment I feel like I am being forced into going with Salah rather than out of choice. Who are people considering as captaincy options other than Salah?

I think these are good alternatives but not for the start of the season. If I start with Salah and then inevitably wildcard early I would be more confident in going with a Salah less team with captaincy options.

        Thank you.
I like Mane as offering better value than Salah but I don't feel he offers a captaincy option. I don't feel I have a clear enough picture of the City team yet to consider as a captain.

Salah has been in ONE draft only.

This happened with Hazard a few years back and he failed to deliver.

My main concern is liv fixtures look great, but the spread of funds gives a better 15 without him. Its the first big dilemma of 2018-19.

      Personally im gonna risk without.

With Kane elarly games history and some other big names missing due to world cup, i think Salah is a must for first 2 GW, after that u can replace him easily

No guarantees. I remember the Hazard year well.

Safer to start with Salah though

        Thanks you.
It has been my dilemma since the game was launched. I want to be brave enough to go without but it always comes back to captaincy options. Kane, Aguero or Hazard would be worthy options in other years. Aubameyang will be an option once we get past the early fixtures.

Auba or Aguero. Dont worry too much about world cup or you might end up without all the players you wanted and sith less points. The players I wanted from final/semi final have actually ended up looking good for GW1, or GW2 at the latest.

I am probably over thinking it too much. I may be more confident after seeing some of the line-ups and outputs from the games this weekend.

Thats is a good feeling that you are being forced into getting Salah. It is similar to that feeling when you get into a car & feel like you are being forced to put on your seatbelt rather than out of choice. Picking Salah is your self preservation instinct kicking in 🙂

I just like him, for such a low price, and I think early season he could perform well whilst other players are recovering from the summer, this will be compounded if Hazard leaves.

He wants to leave. Pedro has played all pre season and is top scorer

    Regarding Eriksen v Mane...

Gave this a lot of thought after initially sticking with Mane and now switching to Eriksen.

Firstly, there's so many ways to utilise those three Liverpool spots atm whereas Spurs aren't as enticing (Moura a punt, Davies perhaps overpriced). Related to that point, anything Spurs do goes through Eriksen, whereas Pool have points potential from all areas. The Dane has a cathartic guarantee for involvement. Finally, and what swung it for me as eureka-no-brainer, is the bonus factor. Eriksen is healthy... Mane's is dismal and this isn't some kind of anomaly; he just is never in the bonus, particularly since he's moved to Anfield...

Salah's a given, all factors considered. Big fan of Robertson too. That leaves the third spot, which at first was Mane, then Firmino and now VVD...

Im on Eriksen because he is incredibly consistent and quality in his role. However his attack is centred around shots from outside the box and passes to Kane. In theory Mane should smash in loads of goals and assists this season, in which case he'll surely get more bonus. Just hard to believe it until we see it. His stats aren't amazing from what I've seen.

In fact there's loads of players like this at Pool, City, Arsenal and Chelsea, who are cheaper and have higher points potential than Eriksen, but greater risk. It's the only thing I'm undecided on with the info we have available thus far.
