Why Mark has played his FPL Wildcard for Gameweek 3

We can reveal that Mark Sutherns has played his Wildcard for Gameweek 3 of the 2018/19 Fantasy Premier League season.

Joe spoke to him in the latest episode of ScoutCast Extra Time on Friday afternoon to find out his reasons for hitting the button and making a raft of changes.

You can watch that video below or on our YouTube channel.

Mark explained that a lot of his decision revolved around how volatile the transfer market has been since Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.2m) hat-trick in Gameweek 2.

With managers all over the world chopping and changing Mark was faced with a situation where several of his original assets were facing price falls, and those he wanted to replace them with were going in the opposite direction.

Joe made the case for sticking with Mark’s original Gameweek 2 team but it will definitely be an all-new line-up in Gameweek 3.

In our latest edition of ScoutCast Extra Time, Mark takes us through two different teams he is considering before Saturday’s 11:30am deadline – one with Eden Hazard (£10.5m) and one without.

Doing Salah triple captain today. I felt underwhelmed by last year's dgw options and them not playing both games. Ridiculously short odds on Ladbrokes for him to score and Liverpool are even money to get 3 or more.

Despite the fixture I think that’s brave. Best of luck. Hope it works as he’s my captain.

Probably best fixture for it, Liverpool utterly violated Brighton last season

Fair point. I have an eye on Aguero at home to Newcastle in a couple of GWs time.

As a Robertson owner I am still not really convinded that he is worth 1M more than Alexander-Arnold.

What are you folks thoughts about this? I know most people have Robertson aswell as me but I'd like to hear how you are arguing.

Clyne is a good player & will see gametime… more so than moreno imo

As a TAA owner on the WC, I'm thinking about getting rid of him for Pereira or Chillwell since TAA is hard to play in 4 of the next 6 if you want a CS. Robbo is at least a better shot of attacking returns.

I'm not so sure he is a better pick for attacking returns. I mean TAA is on corners and FK's

        2. MTPockets
            5 years, 8 months ago

Same. Don't want to spend 6m on Robertson/VVD given the fixtures, so shouldn't really spend 5m either. Just worried about getting it wrong and liv def ownership.

Me too. Might switch to TAA soon to free up some funds but worried about rotation

So far he is. An assist and bonus points each game as compared to TAA's two yellow cards and multiple wayward crosses. Maybe he won't be later in the season, but anyone claiming to have a clue one way or the other at this stage is bullshitting.

Would you rather Pereira, Chillwell or TAA in your team going forward (assuming all at 5.0)? I'm leaning against TAA with the draw.

Ha yes this makes sense. I still had the fact I’d just bought Pereira in on my mind. The least attacking of the 3 is the right way to go about it.

            1. Boglander
              • 8 Years

Yeah, you'd expect attacking returns to be more likely from the forwards, but King has nothing yet and is apparently playing relatively deep, not getting many opportunities. Pereira has attacking returns in each of the last two, and could potentially be played OOP on the wing again. Plus bookies aren't rating Leicester's chances of a clean sheet as much lower than either King or Ings scoring, so combined I think that makes him the best choice of the three.

I'll still probably end up benching him though 🙂

Southampton are at home, and Ings has been looking very dangerous. However Leicester are a better team and have started well. However Leicester's away record last season was poor, three clean sheets I think. So I've no idea how it'll go. What do you reckon?

Pereira can't keep getting attacking returns. You either bet on S'ton to score or not.

I think that he will get attacking returns occasionally throughout the season. His initial rate though will not be sustained.

Yeah, that's what you'd expect - same goes for all the attacking full-backs, none of them will sustain their initial rates consistently. If you don't play them consistently though, you'll probably miss the returns when they come. I'm rocking an Alonso-Robertson-Mendy-Pereira-WB backline at the moment and intend to usually play 4 or 5 atb. Think I've been convinced to go 3 this week though.

if he linked up the tweet then the blame wouldn't be on FFS in case the info was false.

Violently disagree. I am thankful that the mods have the good sense to keep the patently ridiculous and, as in this case, childish efforts to get attention out of here so the rest of us can have reasonably decent discussion and share thoughtful insight.

You want rumors? Go to the gossips section of the tabloids.

same was said for an field express when it started out. Powell, the guy who leaked Chelsea's the sheets in advance was written off as a fraud and a gossiper, yet in both these instances they turned out to be correct.

BS. The idiot original poster should have included a link, not simply rely on "my Liverpool friend." C'mon man, use your noodle.

So you want these boards to be full of random garbage fake news and it's up to the community to decide for themselves which one is true and which one isn't? You don't deserve the benefit of doubt just because you post some crap. Back it up with a source the first time round or prove your credibility by getting it right 2-3 times in a row and then you shall be believed.

Mane or Hazard for today? Defo want hazard next week and I’m on wc, so choice is either get him now, or have mane this week and get him in on ft. Think he could get at least two at Newcastle but a gamble

Exact same dilemma but gone Eden; bit different from most RMTs on here AND you don’t want to be thinking of your next transfer whilst your WC is still active mate, kinda defeats the objective 😉
