Which FPL players are on international duty ahead of Gameweek 9?

A week of international fixtures gets underway today, with two African Cup of Nations qualifiers and a cluster of friendlies kicking off a nervy period in which we keep our fingers crossed in the hope of our Fantasy assets returning to England unscathed.

This article gives a club-by-club rundown on which assets will be away from their sides during this period, also detailing the dates in which these players will be competing for their respective countries.

There are four players in action in the early hours of Wednesday, October 17 who then face a long-haul flight back from the Americas: Alexis Sanchez (£10.0m), DeAndre Yedlin (£4.5m), Davinson Sanchez (£5.8m) and Raul Jimenez (£5.6m).

Davinson was among the substitutes in Spurs’ Premier League match against Liverpool immediately after the September international break, though Yedlin was thrust straight back into the Newcastle United starting XI for the visit of Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez sat out Chile’s previous two fixtures last month, while Jimenez was recalled early by Wolves as a precautionary measure in plenty of time ahead of Gameweek 5.

Manchester United are in action in the lunchtime kick-off on Saturday, October 20, so it remains to be seen whether Alexis features from the start against Chelsea after his exertions in Mexico next Wednesday morning. Jimenez and Wolves, meanwhile, take on Watford at 3pm on that same Saturday.

The good news for owners of Fantasy assets playing for Brazil and Argentina is that their meeting on Tuesday, October 16 will take place in Saudi Arabia, meaning an earlier-than-usual finish time for the likes of Roberto Firmino (£9.4m), Alisson (£5.6m), Ederson (£5.7m), Richarlison (£6.8m), Lucas Moura (£7.4m) and Roberto Pereyra (£6.2m) and a shorter flight back to the UK.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.7m), Mohamed Salah (£12.8m), Sadio Mane (£9.9m), Wilfried Zaha (£7.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.3m) are among the FPL players who are in action in Africa and Asia next Tuesday, meanwhile.

Sergio Aguero (£11.3m), Alexandre Lacazette (£9.6m), Aymeric Laporte (£5.7m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.2m) are some of the more notable “uninjured” players who won’t feature for their respective national teams over the coming week.

    I have 2 fts. 0.3 itb Would would u do ?

    Hennessy McCarthy
    Alonso Robbo Trippier Bennett AWB
    Hazard Moura Rich Fraser Billing
    Kane Kun Mitro

Thinking of doing Kane & Moura to Salah & Wilson. Then keep Wilson for the 2 next fixtures.

Cause i want to get Salah and have 2 fts. Plus i think Wilson with his next 2 fixtures could be even better than Kane. But i agree with u Kane could be good to just keep

Yeah very true. I brought him in for a -4 and he blanked...currently i used my FT on Doherty so certainly not gonna take another -4 to ship him....giving him 1 more chance but in your case I'd probably ship right away.

Kane is fixture proof, hes been one of the top scorers consistently for a few seasons. Wilson is on a hot streak but Bournemouth are inconsistent lost to Burnley 4-0 recently and Salah has been in terrible form for his cost. But I say do it Haha

Hasn't been fixture proof so far. I have no doubt he'll end the season with 20+ goals but when will he start scoring?

You also say Salah has been in terrible form but he's only scored 3 less points than Kane and that's despite Liverpool having harder fixtures. Why is Kane fixture proof but Salah isn't?

Salah's underlying stats are significantly better than Kane's also. While not being the be all and end all, it's comforting to know.

Ryan or Fabianski. Not sure if I can trust either of West ham or Brighton but decent fixture run for both. Thoughts?

Dont listen to him. Brighton just beat west ham 1-0 without dominating but Brighton have a great run of fixtures compared to West Ham although a few away from home but Ryan is going to score more points than Fabianski. Never take advice on here from people who are asking for advice.

Both good options. I would pick maybe Ryan as Brighton are prob going to keep more CS. Though WHU are better team overall.

Was reading the HT about Liverpool defence double up...most seemed averse to the idea as currently most are already holding Alonso and bringing both pool defs will incur a benching headache along with wolves/leicester/or any other team defenders also in play..

The question I want to ask is Alonso really worth keeping???... Almost 7mils in price seems too steep for just cleansheets especially with mid table teams (read wolves) performing so well defensively...His attacking stats have gone way down..

Are you looking to downgrade??? Or you keeping believing attacking goodness will come back?

I for one am considering moving him on..

thats one of those moves i would make on WC

using a FT on a defender who is ticking nicely wont be a priority

also depends what you will do with remaining cash, if you are upgrading somewhere else, then its fine

I know Lacazatte is popular right now (I own him) but is anyone considering Firmino instead at a similar price point? I know Laca has the form atm, but Firmino has the better fixtures of hud, CAR, ars, FUL to his LEI, cry, LIV, WOL. Furthermore Firmino will prob get more minutes as Sturridge will likely play the Red Star games

Morning all, those of you who went Kane last week for Aguero, what are you doing this week? Reversing it or holding Kane for West Ham?

      No.

I think the best defense going forward is Mendy, Robertson, TAA, Doherty, AWB.

Morning Lads! An early multiple choice question.
Who in your opinion is the best mid budget striker for next few games and why?
    A. Mitrovic
    B. Arnautovic
    C. Murray
    D. Another option
(I already have Wilson but if you think he is the one feel free!) Cheers!

    1. Holmes

      B imo

      Mitrovic over the next 3.

Arnautovic over like 10. But he has an injury issue which could screw you at any time.

Murray is pretty lucky with his points but he certainly has the fixtures. Not hugely keen since his chances per minute is insanely low.

So a plan could be to get Mitro for next 3 then swap him with Arna (if he is fit)? Murray could replace equally Wilson when Bmouth fixtures turn a bit harder...

Hey guys.. currently on the following WC team with 1.4 in bank -

    Patricio (Fabianski)

    Alonso, Robbo, Mendy, Doherty (Benett)

    Hazard, Richarlison, Mane (Maddison, Kennedy)

    Aguero, Mitrovic, Wilson

    And here are my plans.

    1. If Salah shows form in at least those 2 friendly matches, I would sway Mane and Robbo for Salah and TAA.
    2. After 2 weeks, upgrade Wilson to Arnautovic.

Please let me know 1 & 2 are fine

    1. Holmes

I really dont want to downgrade Mendy. He has lots of attacking potential. Alonso has great fixtures. Thats why I currently have Mane and Robbo and would switch to Salah only if he shows form in these 2 friendlies.

    2. Demel

If that is your thinking then I would make the switch now. I wouldn't want to have 3 transfers in mind when playing a wildcard.

      1. subhojit123
        • 7 Years
        5 years, 6 months ago

I would make the first switch, if at all, in this wildcard only.
For second, I would wait 2 weeks. Coz Wilson has 2 awesome fixtures. Also Arnie is carrying a knock and fixtures are a bit mixed over next 2 for him. Yeah I have heard he is fixture proof, but not switching to him till 2 weeks mainly due to wilson's form.

for the reasons you just alluded to in your comment - TAA was just dropped for a match for tactical reasons
          therefore
he's not certain to start anymore - he's first choice no doubt, but you're going to be checking the team sheet every week from now on. gomez/lovren/clyne are all available now and 3 doesn't fit into 2
