FFScoutcast Episode 271 – Traffic

Battling through traffic, illness and technical glitches, the Scoutcast crew emerge triumphant to discuss the key issues affecting Fantasy Football managers in Gameweek 9 and beyond.

After being stuck in motorway congestion a cold-ridden Az dropped by to join David, Andy and I just in time to answer the community’s questions about why none of us own assets from Arsenal. This is particularly head-scratching given the Gunners have scored more goals than any other side over the last four Gameweeks.

We also shake our heads in disbelief at why so many Fantasy managers are ignoring Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling, who is proving to be well worth his premium price tag this term.

Liverpool’s injury list and patchy form of some of their top players ahead of a fine run of games also come under scrutiny.

Elsewhere, David invents ‘the courteous brag’ as he details how he was the only member of the crew not to be entranced by Tottenham’s misfiring striker Harry Kane in Gameweek 8.

Gameweek 9 differentials and clean sheet prospects also get an airing and we finish off with Andy putting the rest of our transfer plans to shame with a typically audacious set of moves.

It does look good but you lose out a B if on squad depth and particularly flexibility. E.g you decide thst you must own Maddison. How do you get him in? Perhaps Alonso becomes your cash cow. You then have none of the 3/4 big hitting defenders that a lot of people own. Risky.

I like the team but those are points to consider.

Thanks very much. This would actually be Maddison to sterling upgrade! I was playing about with 2ft and trying to fit 4 big hitters in and like the look of this

    5. McEwan

Wouldn’t worry too much about balance. My team is more unbalanced than most I would imagine and that doesn’t concern me.

There is so many good options that you can only have a combo of so many. You’ve got some excellent ones that cover the captain options for the next few weeks which is important and it’s not too difficult to move to whoever maybe the flavour of the month then. Rest of the squad look solid imo

    I'm selling Smalling (bad punt!)

Looking at bringing in Laporte or Doherty (I can't afford Mendy)

Laporte isn't that exciting but is nailed and city keep clean sheets.

Doherty, on the other hand, is on fire at the minute and Wolves are looking pretty decent at the back as a unit, including against the big guns like city.

So at 4.7 Doherty IS the obvious choice right, even with his fixtures?

    Anyone think otherwise.

    1. World XI
      • 11 Years

I would not say Laporte is nailed. Otta and Kompany first choice in big games

        1. McEwan
          • 14 Years
          5 years, 6 months ago

Whilst that is true, they do have a lot of options at centre half and although he looks less of a risk than others, still think there is a risk of rotation. Suppose we could say this for a number of players but if your comfortable with the move, don’t let anyone talk you out of it or you will blame everyone when ultimately.....

Completely agree, future transfer spreadsheet essential.

In a normal week, planning for transfers is fine but on WC and looking at 4-5 changes in just 2 weeks of time is probably going to backfire.

That’s where I can see where your coming from, anything could happen in the next few that put those plans on the backburner.

Think on the wildcard you have to have a degree of longer term visions but also not neglect short term potential. And having planning routes for transfers going forward allows them to happen without getting there and realising your .2 short of making the trades

            thanks for the great input!

            most probably sticking to my plan; as Richarlison have points potential fixture against CP on GW9 and swap him with Maddison on GW10; King could probably score points for GW 9 and 10 then a load him off for Arnie in GW11;

This is barring any injuries and price increase. Well we can only plan as much.

any thoughts on selling Fraser for Kenedy to accommodate Mendy and Balbuena (Still on WC; if i were to this).

            Cheers

That is a template as can be, so you either had a crap team or you made few changes.

Resisted any transfer for the whole IB. In some decent cash leagues so trying to reduce hits this season. Team is

    Patricio
    Alonso Robbo Doherty
    Haz Mane Maddison Fraser
    Laca Wilson Kane

    Bett Hojberg Holebas Keane

Wanted to keep Mané but got exact cash to do either
    Kane & Keane > Kun & Mendy
    or
    Kane & Mané > Kun & Sterling

Help me out please, should I hold, get Kun, take the hit?

Kane-Mane to Kun-Sterling looks explosive (if Mane is not fit)

Are those moves for a hit? And can you leave it a week with price rises? Can see Kane scoring against west ham

Got 1 FT, so Mendy or Sterling for a hit

If prices rise, I can’t do either move.

Would only be able to do Kane > Kun or any other striker of course

1 ft. 0.1 in the bank. Thinking of doing trippier > mendy what do you think?

    Patricio
    Alonso, TAA, trippier
    Hazard, salah, richarlison, moura,
    Ings, mitrovic, aguero

    Subs: henessey, hughes, AWB, bennett

I think they'll score similar points this week but prefer Mendy for the long term.

I did kane to lacazette with my ft. I have 1ft left, I was going to do lucas to sterling (-4), shall I just wait to see if kdb plays then bring him in next week? Although Shaw is an issue that needs addressing

    Ryan - 4.0
    Alonso - Robbo - Shaw - AWB - Bennett
    Salah - Hazard - Lucas - Richarlison - 4.5
    Laca - Jimenez - Wilson

Please can someone help - feel like my teams a bit of a mess at the moment, haha.

I want to somehow find a way of strengthening my defense and bench over the next few weeks, but I also want KDB once he's confirmed fit. Thinking of Mane -> KDB and then downgrading Silva next week. Don't really want to get rid of Kane as I only brought him in last GW thinking that he would score a few against Cardiff.

    Thanks in advance

    Hennessey
Bennett - TAA - David Luiz
    D. Silva - Hazard - Mane - Maddison
    Aguero - Kane - Jimenez

    4.0 - AWB - Guendouzi - Bednarek

Wow that is a strong front 7!

Which defenders would you like? That dictates how much money you need to find.

Too strong maybe, haha. But Mendy/Alonso are who I'm mainly after, wouldn't mind upgrading Bennett to Jonny/Doceither

Yea, i was contemplating whether you were ahead of the curve with big forwards but, defence is offering excellent value still.

Mane>Richarlison is the obvious move to me, with his potential injury, being slightly out of form and Richy playing OOP. That would give around 3ml funds back.

There is no easy solution and I’m guessing no wildcard? Something has to give in terms of heavy hitters going forward. Aguero for Arnie frees up the cash to top Silva up to KDB and sort the defence/bench

Silva to KDB as no need for double city mids.

Thing is I would prefer to have two City mids for this GW only against Burnley rather than Mane if he doesn't start

Not to mention, i assume you couldn't afford what he's suggested in 1 move.

also, not to mention you're trying to free up cash for defence not plum more in to attack
