Sign up now for next Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup

February 24th 2018. The big winners were Liverpool and Brighton, who each recorded 4-1 victories in their respective triumphs over West Ham and Championship-bound Swansea.

However, in north London, under the banner of Sparta Rotterdam, a team of FFScout luminaries were also celebrating, as they lifted the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Charity Cup. A real-life football tournament which brought to together over 30 grassroots players from around the country.

The Charity Cup is returning on the afternoon of Saturday 17 November 2018 (during the international break) and promises to be bigger and better than ever.

The format will depend on numbers, but with a full 3G 11-a-side pitch (which can also be divided) available to us all afternoon between 2pm and 7pm, we have the capacity and flexibility to structure the day however we wish.

We are extremely fortunate to have secured The Thomas Parmiter Sports Centre in north Watford (WD25 0UU), which is a fabulous facility and is perfectly located just minutes away from Junction 6 of the M1 and Junction 21A of the M25.

For those travelling up from London by train, Garston Station is just 1.5 miles away. We will have the entire venue to ourselves with ample parking and with a number of pubs barely a mile away.

Anyone and everyone is welcome to take part, whatever the level and whether you are fit enough to play all day or just make a cameo appearance. We’ll be organising players into squads so you don’t need to round up a team yourself, although feel free to bring invite a guest player or two to boost the numbers.

All you need to do is email peter.kouwenberg76@gmail.com as soon as possible to confirm your interest and provide your contact details, at which point you’ll be added to the relevant WhatsApp group unless you would prefer to be kept informed by email or text instead.

February’s tournament proved a huge success and raised over £1,000 for Melanoma Research Foundation. This year we hope to raise more even money, involve even more as we donate to men’s mental health charity CALM.

The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is dedicated to preventing male suicide, the single biggest killer of men under the age of 45 in the UK. On average, 12 men take their own life every day – more than three times the number of women.

Two of my uncles committed suicide so I personally think it’s a great cause. CALM works to prevent male suicide by providing services for men who are down or in crisis, and by campaigning for culture change so men feel able to seek help.

To donate please visit our JustGiving page:

All money raised will go directly to the charity, so please give generously.

CALM’s helpline – 0800 58 58 58 – and webchat are open daily 5pm-midnight. It’s free, anonymous and confidential.

For more information about CALM and the impact your donation will have, please read here.

CALM is a charity registered in England and Wales (1110621) and in Scotland (SC044347)

really no clue what to do with my team..

    Ederson Hamer
    Alonso TAA Trippier AWB Bennett
    Salah Mane Maddison Fraser Hojbjerg
    Kun Zaha Mitro.

    0.9 ITB 1FT.

Was keen on saving FT but now debating Salah & Zaha > Richarlison & Kane for just two weeks.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

    Thanks.

I know Wilson scored last night (but may also affect his minutes at the weekend) but...

    Mendy + Wilson -> Lacazette + 3.9 defender for -4

    Leaves me with:
    McCarthy / Hennessey

    Alonso / Shaw / WB / Holebas / 3.9m
    Salah / Hazard / Moura / Fraser / Billing
    Aguero / Lacazette / Ings

Though Lacazette is against Watford away next which will be a tough game. So could save for another week and do transfers without a hit.

Not a fan of it. See who plays for Spurs tonight. If Moura gets full 90, I'd take him out for Maddison/Richarlison.

They're at home vs Watford if that helps the decision.

Not sure he's worth a hit at this point though. Bmouth next 4 games are quite good so always the possibility Wilson matches him.

Hmm very true. It just feels wrong having double Bournemouth!

Wilson was meant to be a placeholder for 2-3 weeks before upgrading based on form / fixtures. Could do the same transfers but to Vardy?

So Huddersfield and Cardiff are seen as the whipping boys at be the moment. Everyone ditching Liverpool assets for spurs players. Liverpool play them both after Chelsea and city so you will probably want 3 against them in 2 weeks

Any ideas here greatly appreciated. Will wait for any further Mendy news, but presuming that Guardiola is vague:

    A) Mendy out (unsure on replacements, maybe downgrade to enable Hazard and Mitrovic in more easily)
    B) Walcott to Maddison/Richarlison
    C) Zaha/Ings to Mitrovic
    D) Save

    Patricio/Hamer
    Alonso/Robertson/Mendy/Wan-B/Bennett
    Salah/Mane/Walcott/Fraser/Cairney
    Aguero/Zaha/Ings

Cheers, that seems the best in terms of immediate points improvement, my concern with it is that it stops a straight Mane -> Hazard switch. It would require a defensive downgrade.

I have Mane as well. And very similar team structure with 1 FT and 1.8 ITB. Not really tempted by Hazard anymore, doubt I'll go there in next 5. Pool fixtures are amazing after these two tough ones. Might even save this week although would like to have Vardy or Maddison.

You want to get rid of Walcott asap so might as well do it this week! But saying that, I don't really like Ings for next 5 and Mitro has been amazing.

      Similar team to me.
      I’m doing Walcott to Rich.
Your Bench can cover Mendy out and you already lost out on a few Price changes.
Of course it depends on any news on Mendy, but I Think Getting the Wally -> Rich transfer done can be good for the coming weeks

Agreed on Mendy (waiting on news), happily keeping him with same defence. Many shipping him out for Trippier. I see that quite bad actually. Short term move and 2 transfers needed if they want Mendy back.

        1. Licious Lizard
          • 11 Years
          5 years, 7 months ago

I agree. Spurs has conceded against Ful, New, Wat and Brighton.
          Lloris not ready yet.
Add Trip’s Risk of rotation to this, it’s not worth 2 FTs.
Yes there is the possibility of a haul, but is not a “sure thing”, as most on here seem to think imo...

I think A would be the best solution. Rich is extremely tempting but you have Walcott for the Fulham game, so I suppose you somehow cover lack of Richy.

I would do Mendy, Mane to Hazard and Trippier or Laporte. Trippier looks better prospect for next 3 to 6 games and you can switch back to Mendy when he will be back as the price should more and less be the same.

    Fabianski
    Alonso, Robertson, Boly
    Salah, Mane, B.Silva, Maddison, Fraser
    Aguero, Mitrovic

    Foster | PVA, Wan-Bissaka, Kamara

    1 FT 0.4 ITB

    A) Mane > 10.1 mid (Richarlison?)
    B) PVA > 5.9 def (Roberston bench?)
    C) PVA+Mane > Trippier+9.5 mid -4

Really thinking about kun to kane for a hit for 2 weeks. Ill captain them whatever the decision so ill need kane to score atleast 2 points more than kun this week. If kun plays 60 and kane 90 i dont see why he cants score more. Any thoughts please

Aguero has Brighton at home and City is a better side. Would rather have Aguero for 60-75 mins than Kane for 90. Aguero will only be subbed if they are 2 or 3 goals ahead anyway, which he hopefully has been involved in

I would not take Aguero out, especially not for a hit. You would Cap kun when you don't do the transfer so you would need Kane to score at least 4 point to get an equal result. Still not convinced of Kane.

Also Kane has only 2 good fixtures. You would probably do another -4 so get him out again.

Can't wait to see Mendy bomb up and down the wing and rack up all those assists this weekend.

After my research into a bruised 5th metatarsal, I'd be surprised if he didn't play against Brighton.

Hmmm. I don't have Kane, and am not ready to whip out my WC this week in order to get him. I'm not yet convinced he's ready to smash it ..... yet.

However, I'm starting to brit shicks over not having him, given what seems like a surge of interest,: thing is, there's not really anyone else from Spurs who you'd want as 'cover', is there?

I could do (maybe should have done already) Mendy > Trippier (-4) but I'm not totally convinced he plays every game

Do I have this wrong ?

Not sure what you're asking tbh lol.

    2. Licious Lizard

I think your thinking is about right.
Kane might be a brilliant move for those getting him in, but I’m not convinced either at this point.
Also I can’t see a lot of good replacements for Mendy if your bench can cover him. Trip will get rotated imo

      1. danishdynamite
        • 13 Years
        5 years, 7 months ago

Yeah, I'm not sure what I'm asking either, TBH: I guess, is any other Spurs player worth a ht, rather than WC'ing for Kane (which I am not gonna do)

I have BW coming off the bench if Mendy doesn't play, and have already used my FT on Pedro>Maddison

Just had a shuftie and Kane isn't even in the top 10 transfers in this week, that surprised me

        1. Licious Lizard
          • 11 Years

No one from that Spurs side look particularly interesting.
Yes Kane can haul, but is still looking off pace. Trip is a rotation risk, but still has a high upside. The mids are either not delivering properly or rotation risks.
Add to that, thar Spurs aren’t looking excellent. Not keeping cleanies and aren’t scoring loads of goals.
          I’m staying clear for now.
That being said, we all know what Kane is capable of. It could turn out like the 2 blanks against the 2 worst sides like last year - or like his back to back hattricks.

          1. danishdynamite
            • 13 Years

Agree, Trippier worries me, but Mourra seemed like the second coming but has done SFA the last two games.

I plan to WC between 9 and 10, and unless he goes completely mental I won't be wanting SPurs players in that period til around GW15, so they wouldn't be in my plans around 10

So taking a chance on him smashing it the enxt few seems too risky. If I'd WC'd to bring him I guess it's an easy swap for another big hitter for that stretch from 10-15

I don't think the scoutcast was that great last night, just ok. i usually like it though.

I found myself disagreeing a lot with the guys, thank goodness for Az who i believe looks more closely at form and overall quality of players than fixtures. Dont get me wrong these guys are all a lot better at this game than me, my OR is my best ever at 170k this season, last season finished outside 1 mill (too many hits).

However i still find it hard to believe how much the other guys go on about fixtures, changing players out and in to match the 'good' fixtures, when we see time and time again that a lot of players are fixture proof and infact play well against bigger teams. not to mention the smaller teams that are showing that they are learning to stop the bigger teams more so each season. Form over fixtures all the way for me.

While I generally agree with form over fixtures, I'd be interested to see any evidence for "we see time and time again that a lot of players are fixture proof and infact play well against bigger teams". It's pretty clear that there's more chance of a player doing well, having more shots/chances, having a better chance of a CS etc. against Huddersfield/Cardiff than, say, Man City or Liverpool.

Defensively, yes. Not so much offensively. The mindset of a big club is to win every game, that means attacking and that automatically leads them at least susceptible to a counterattack. A weaker team would often be delighted with a 0-0 so they will dedicate themselves to that task.

So 'easy' fixtures work for clean sheets, not so much for attacking returns.

        1. Doolittle
          • 11 Years

I really disagree here; you get far fewer chances against good teams. The 2 teams with the fewest 'big chances' conceded so far this season? Man City and Liverpool, 2 each in 6 games. The teams with the most big chances conceded - Huddersfield, West Ham, Fulham and Burnley.

It is much easier to score against a weaker team than a top team.

      2. joeydelucchi

my point was mainly with Hazard and Salah from this scoutcast and them still talking about spurs assets when they still dont look great...id rather the chelsea pool or even arsenal players in tough fixtures whilst they are in form over the united or spurs players with 'easy fixtures'

i dont think they take into consideration overall team performance too much, and a players team being on form...look at watford a couple of weeks back, if it had come up in the scoutcast then all the talk would've been about shifting out Deeney as he was about to play spurs and arsenal coming up....i think he got double digit against spurs and i can see him doing damage to a poor arsenal defence.

i would go as far as to say form and fixtures are both less important than the teams form. right now im basing my team on watford, city, chelsea, pool and bmouth assets to an extent

yes thats what i mean, i feel like they stick a little too much to what should happen since this side is a top 6, this side wont play well as it is a tough fixture as opposed to who is currently playing well and could cause upsets. fair to say?

Tearing my hair out a little bit, advice would be much appreciated! If Mendy is confirmed out mid- to long-term...

Thanks guys. Bringing in two players with Hudd and Cardiff as their next two just seems too good not to do! I've already lost 0.1 sale value on Mendy so I figure it's safe to wait for the pressers

Huddersfield & Cardiff are super fixtures on paper... but beware of the Barca game sandwiched in between them... After losing to Inter they really can’t afford to lose to Barca so wouldn’t be surprised to see Poch try to rest whoever he realistically can against the two worst teams in the league.

Then again they need all the points they can get in the league so he may not rest Kane, but all the attacking mids & fullbacks at risk I’d say.
