Meet the Manager #6 – Adam Hopcroft (Choppers13)

Over his eight campaigns, Adam Hopcroft has finely tuned a bespoke management style that pays close attention to underlying statistics, the Season Ticker and the good old-fashioned eye test.

With five top 10,000 finishes, including two within the top 1,000, it’s a strategy that has clearly paid off.

Adam looks on course for another strong finish this time out too, with a current placing in the top 30,000.

Here he discusses in detail the key statistics he pays particular attention to and why medium, not short-term, upcoming fixtures guide his Season Ticker.

Each year he also gathers more information about players, which helps decide whether strong underlying statistics herald a point blitz or disappointment.

Adam then applies his tailor-made statistics and fixture analysis to the current campaign to reveal the players he is looking to ditch and those he is keen to bring in.

The chat with Adam is available to view on Youtube here and in the embedded video below.

    Not much of an issue, but Cédric and Bertrand are on the wrong sides of the pitch on Team News section. Just a little heads up. 🙂

      Hard to really tell, but as much as Red Star may not be quality opposition neither is Cardiff, Fulham or the combo of Holding/Bellerin.

      But at least it shows (to a degree at least) that Liverpool May start finding their shooting boots when presented with some easier opponents which bodes well for the next few GW’s.

      Probably somewhere in between. Although front 3 all scored and sometimes you need a game to start clicking again. Salah 3 goals in 2 games now and he’s usually really good at home.

    Hopefully Gross drops to 6.6m before he's back from injury. He could be a great Richarlison replacement if Rich continues to flop up front.

        Are we? Maddison, Fraser, Richarlison, Pereyra, Schurrle are all 7 or under. Even Mkhitaryan, who may become an option again the more Ramsey gets benched/sold!

            While I agree that the 8-9.5 is really bad, most of the popular 7m and under picks are either not producing like we hoped or their fixtures are taking a turn for the worse. Maddison looks like the only real option for the foreseeable future.

          He could well start this week but if he's going to play in the midfield he's competing with Milner, Henderson, Gini, Fabinho, Keita for one of the 3 spots so long term I think he's too much of a rotation risk. Keita is expected back this week too

      Now isn’t the week to dump Fraser I don’t think.

      Do the Kane to Arnie move this week and the Fraser to Hazard the week after. Especially considering Hazard’s potential injury.

    The Hazard injury has come at a bad time for us Salah owners who’d rather not share him with as many managers.

    Two goals from Salah tonight and a potentially injured Hazard means plenty of mangers will be considering the swap. Not all managers are patient and many will want an excuse for Salah anyway. I can see a lot of Haz to Salab moves coming up in my ML’s etc.

    1. Pierce34
      • 8 Years
      5 years, 6 months ago

      I don't think many are willing to lose so much value - a lot of us bought Hazard at 10.5. Also I really doubt he'll be out more than a week, if that.

      1. Smurf
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        • 14 Years
        5 years, 6 months ago

        I agree in terms of him not being out long/at all. I also agree I wouldn’t want to be losing the value on Hazard in that situation.

        But I can just see it being super popular for players in my ML’s who are (for want of a better term) casuals and don’t think into value or injury length too much and they will think more like their main player is out and blanked last week and now another popular player is scoring and playing Cardiff.

        1. Pierce34
          • 8 Years
          5 years, 6 months ago

          Hmm yes, fair enough. Personally the only way I'll be looking to get Salah is alongside Hazard (unless Hazard is confirmed out for more than a week of course) on a wildcard. Alternatively I'll just get Mane along with a new sofa! 😀

            Yeah I have both Hazard and Salah alongside each other and that’s the only way I would have Salah. Not instead of Hazard. Hopefully most other think the same.

      To much invested in the midfield. Personally would get rid of sterling > mid priced mid and use it to invest in a better defender

      Could've easily had a hat-trick...also close to an assist. But Man City are so good.

        With eriksen back, I think he has potential to have returns against City.. different beast compared tonight though

      Sluggish, not himself....except point blank header on the far post from a cross on a plate from Eriksen.

      I thought he looked quite threatening, mostly in the air.
      Scored with a header from a pinpoint Eriksen cross, hit the crossbar with another attempt and their keeper pulled off an excellent point blank save from another effort.
      Could have easily been 2 or 3.
      Also, those efforts were in around the six yard box, something that he has not being doing to much of lately.
      As someone who was looking to sell it has certainly given me second thoughts.

    Evening folks, how did Salah look? Worth a hit or just get Mane (or Firmino)?

    Thoughts on Bilva to Maddison? Think that it's a good time to lose Bilva since KDB is back and he'll now play a lot less

      I probably would, just for the fact it saves some coin.
      I still feel Bilva will get a lot of minutes. He's super versatile and has been one of City's better players so far this season imo.

        True but in place of who? Dinho and kdb will play most games. Kun is perma. That leaves 2 places for sterling dilva bilva sane and mahrez. Just not enough spots.

      I wouldn’t take out Lacazette before Crystal Palace. Best to wait and see what Emery says in the press conference.

            This year with nailed on decent forwards at 5.5, it's really not worth IMO having a dead 4.3 versus a returning 5.5.

        Don't worry. Only so far.

        I started this season with Ben Davies and believed his underlying stats were good enough to keep...

    B) enderson ->Allison?
    C) Kane -> Lacazetta and Frazor -> Mane -4
    D) Masauku -> Kenedy O

      B if Hazard is fit.
      I would probably do A otherwise.
      Those will most likely be the best captaincy options this week
