Meet the Manager #7 – Jay Egersdorff

Jay Egersdorff is not afraid to make bold moves.

It’s been a key feature of a stellar Fantasy Premier League career that has seen him finish within the top 10,000 in all but two of his previous 12 campaigns.

This track record includes three top 1,000 finishes, two of which saw him miss out on a spot in the top 100 by less than half a dozen places. He is also the reigning Career Hall of Fame number one, having topped our list at the end of last season.

Jay joins me in our latest Meet the Manager video to look over his impressive career and explain more about his rationale for making bold moves, often involving multiple hits.

Sometimes they can be costly, as with last season when he gave up a place in the top 100 by taking three hits and jettisoning Harry Kane ahead of back-to-back hat-tricks.

That failed “Kanexit”, as well as this season’s Kane-related disaster, are discussed, as are the times when being a maverick has paid off.

This includes his decision to improve his squad by swapping Mohamed Salah for his cheaper teammate, Sadio Mane, this season. With green arrows ever since he looks to be well on his way to overturning a disastrous start that saw him almost edge out of the top one million places back in Gameweek 6.

Jay also explains how he is unable to move to his favoured 3-5-2 set up and why he is happy to play the patient game for now. Although given his career history, another maverick move may be just around the corner.

      Depends on a lot of things really. Who is your second keeper? If I were getting Fabs in, id want Patricio as my second keeper. They rotate nicely.

        Ta. I’m keeping for now. Was wanting to swap Wilson for Mitro but would rather hold Wilson. Bournemouth can score against anyone anyway.

        I’d lose so much value if I sold Fraser now that I’m resisting riding the Barkley train. Might bring him in for Richarlison if he’s starting to look nailed. Or do Pat for Fabianski in a week or 2.

          Well it’s up to you how much you want to spend on your team structure. You’d need to spend less upfront if you did that so would be looking at someone cheaper. How much money would you have left if you made changes elsewhere? Spend that on one.

      I have him 1st on the bench... he probably won't be benched after a goal so at least 1 more week from him...

      There is always the risk that he plays 10 mins for 1 pt when Deeney is fully fit... which is when he'll go back to last on the bench for me

    -most penalty box touches(20)
    -2nd most SiB(5)
    -I had one only GA less than Salah(7)
    -created most chances(9) of all the mf's
    -I'm only owned by 5.9% of the top 10k

      I'd stick mate... Leicester's good fixture run has just started. Fixtures is probably why you got them in

      Look at Arsenal for example, they had great fixtures from GW3 onwards... got off to a slow start but the points came in eventually for those who had patience

    Dont understand why strikers get more bps for scoring goals and def get the least. Shouldnt it be the other way round?

        That dosnt make much sense though. Its harder for def to score. One is less dosnt really mean the other one should favour them.
