Sane in for Mahrez while Hazard is named on the Chelsea bench

Two Premier League matches overlap one another this afternoon, with Manchester City and Chelsea enjoying enticing-looking home fixtures and carrying the hopes of legions of Fantasy managers after a somewhat underwhelming set of results for many FPL bosses on Saturday.

The action kicks off at 15:00 GMT, with Southampton – without a goal in five Premier League matches – the visitors to the Etihad.

Manchester City have won all five of their home league games this season, scoring at a rate of 3.6 goals per fixture at Eastlands in 2018/19.

Nine of Sergio Aguero‘s (£11.3m) ten attacking returns this season (five goals, four assists) have come at the Etihad. The Argentinean striker leads the line for City again this afternoon in his 11th straight league start of 2018/19.

Benjamin Mendy‘s (£6.4m) rate of 7.6 points per match is the best among FPL defenders this season and the French left-back hasn’t failed to record an assist, clean sheet and/or bonus in his seven Premier League appearances of this campaign.

Ederson (£5.8m) and Aymeric Laporte (£5.9m), meanwhile, come into this fixture off the back of recording six straight FPL clean sheets.

Pep Guardiola has made only one change from the side that beat Spurs last Monday, with Leroy Sane (£9.2m) replacing Riyad Mahrez (£8.7m). Raheem Sterling (£11.1m) will, presumably, move across to the right flank to accommodate Sane’s re-introduction.

Nicolas Otamendi (£6.1m) and Ilkay Gundogan (£5.4m) are not quite fit enough for a place on the bench, meanwhile.

Mark Hughes has made three changes to the side that drew 0-0 with Newcastle United last weekend, with Shane Long (£4.8m), James Ward-Prowse (£5.1m) and the fit-again Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (£4.5m) replacing Charlie Austin (£5.5m), Mohamed Elyounoussi (£6.2m) and Oriel Romeu (£4.3m).

In the 16:00 kick-off, Chelsea take on Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have dropped points in their last two home Premier League fixtures but are nevertheless still unbeaten in the top flight this season.

The 44% of FPL managers hoping for a start for Eden Hazard (£11.3m), whose minutes were in doubt ahead of the visit of Roy Hodgson’s side, were left disappointed when the Belgian was named only among the Chelsea substitutes for this encounter.

The Blues, indeed, are unchanged from the side that started the win over Burnley in Gameweek 11, with Ross Barkley (£5.9m) again lining up in the centre of midfield.

Roy Hodgson has made one change to his Crystal Palace side from the 2-2 draw with Arsenal, meanwhile: Max Meyer (£5.6m) replaces Jordan Ayew (£5.8m).

Manchester City XI: Ederson, Walker, Stones, Laporte, Mendy, Fernandinho, Silva, Sane, Sterling, Bernardo, Aguero.

Southampton XI: McCarthy, Soares, Stephens, Hoedt, Bertrand, Lemina, Hojbjerg, Ward-Prowse, Ings, Long, Redmond.

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Alonso, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Rudiger, Kante, Jorginho, Barkley, Pedro, Morata, Willian.

Crystal Palace XI: Hennessey, Van Aanholt, Tomkins, Sakho, Wan-Bissaka, Townsend, Milivojevic, McArthur, Kouyate, Meyer, Zaha.

I have a really strong team for next week (14/15 players with good fixture and non playing 2nd gk), should i use bench boost or am i better of saving it for double fixture weeks?
    ederson - hamer
    alonso - chilwell - pereira - lovren - diop
    salah (c) - mane - hazard - richy - hojbjerg
    arny - wilson - murray

If no bench boosting who should i bench? i was thinking alonso - richy - hoj

You really think huds will score before everton?
Honestly i hate having richy vs. alonso which would mean i lose points on one either way so that was the reason i was thinking of benching both just to cut the dilemma

In a weird way, if he cost more I think people would be even more keen to sign him. Some people are biased against budget players, since the thinking is you pay the premium for more consistency (I confess I'm guilty of that sometimes).

Strange to me the amount of people on here who aren't satisfied with Aguero. Before today the criticism was that he wasn't playing enough minutes and not getting big hauls. He did both of those things and yet people still want to get rid of him.

I don't own him, and I'm not planning on owning him, I know he's had a couple of hauls this season but playing just 60 minutes most games puts me off seeing as he's often only getting the 6 points

      1. I Member
        • 8 Years
        5 years, 5 months ago

The "he's only getting 6 points" argument is the most confusing thing to me. Since when is 6 points a bad thing? He's been such a reliable captaincy option and is more than capable of producing hauls.

        1. Agger
          • 8 Years
          5 years, 5 months ago

It's not a bad thing. I'd just prefer my Premium striker to be playing 90 to maximize his chances of getting hauls. Not having him has allowed me to have Salah and Sterling.

I find the difference in the tone with which he and sterling are described to be very strange. I find the majority seem to be overwhelmingly positive towards Sterling, and quite neutral if not negative towards Kun. Sterling is awesome, but I’d still prefer Kun if I can only have one of them, and not shelling out for both!

Yeah he is but Aguero is still scoring very well and Sterling is more likely to be rotated.

Even with rotation he is outscoring him. If its one or the other then i can see why some are selling. Looking at next 5 fixtures, there are arguably better captain options each week over Aguero

    Hamer Doherty Hojberg WB

Have got 2FT in the bank. Need to get Liverpool cover for game against Fulham & also shed off some dead wood (a.k.a Mitro & Shaw). Currently a bit confused cos my plan was to do:
Aguero, Mitro, Shaw & Rich to Arnautovic, Wilson, Robertson and Mane
With this weeks current performance from Aguero thats a tough call now and looking at Laca, Mitro, Fraser to Mane Arna & Success...... but again the game against wolves...Laca may come in strong.....Will really appreciate some perspective here

    Duffy Laporte Alonso (Doherty WB)
    Richarlison Sterling Hazard Madd (Hoyberg)
    Wilson Aguero Arnie

    2.6 ITB 1FT, take out?

    A) Hazard
    B) Sterling
    C) Aguero and Madd for -4
    D) Save and hide behind the sofa

      Downgrade Aguero to Laca maybe?

      And upgrade Maddison/Hojb to Mane/Salah?

Maddison or Rich to Mané. Easy to get the cash with a defensive downgrade

If you already have Richarlison you keep it for the Cardiff game, no point in dropping him now.

Didn't see it yesterday but did Arnie seem to come through the game unscathed?

I would just stick tbh. Don't need to use your FTs

Team is very good. I'd go Hojbjerg to Diangana or Camarasa.

Got Hojbjerg at 4.4m and rarely moves from the bench.

Drop Wan Bissaka for a better defender and upgrade Hojbjerg if you can. Or you might want to drop Maddison for a better option.

I feel like, in the end, captaining Sterling was the right choice. Those 94 points seem to think so as well.

    To fund arnie:

    A: Laporte > Balbuena
    B: Fraser > Kenedy

Fraser to Kenedy is just a really bad move.
