Meet the Manager #8 – Kenneth Tang

Kenneth Tang’s Fantasy Premier League career history is nothing short of breathtaking.

A third of his 12 season finishes have been within the top 500 and a quarter within the top 200.

In total he has nine top 10,000 finishes and impressively almost broke into the top 100 during his first ever campaign, back in 2006/7.

In our latest Meet the Manager interview Kenneth reveals how close attention to the fixtures of the top six sides each year has been crucial to his success.

Wildcard timing is also vital, with his first of this season still to be played. Using his big-six fixture strategy he also explains why Gameweek 16 looks to be the optimum time to deploy this chip and ensure he marches up the overall rankings, perhaps even jettisoning his premium defence along the way.

As a veteran of FPL he explains how the advent of the second Wildcard saw the game change and forced him to tweak his strategy and planning.

The value of the eye test is also key for Kenneth. From his Hong Kong base he is able to regularly spend Saturday and Sunday nights watching matches, although with a new born baby this has not been as regular as previous campaigns.

The chat with Kenneth is available to view on Youtube here and in the embedded video below.

Why Zaha? Best you can hope for is a won penalty, United and Spurs up next.

Would avoid Zaha myself, he's been marked out of too many games for my liking (why I got rid).

Either find a way to get Arnautovic, downgrade to Jimenez so you can use the money elsewhere in coming weeks or downgrade to a 3rd bench/none playing Success/Kamara.

Stay away from Zaha, for me, he isn't reliable enough to take up a strikers spot. More attractive option when he's classed as a mid.

Go for Arnie, by downgrading a defender/GK. You have two city players and I think to lose one wouldn't harm you.

If not, got for a straight swap with Jimenez

I really like Diangana (4.5, WHU) as a budget option who can provide points off the bench, and player comp shows he is outperforming slightly more expensive Murphy (4.8, Cardiff)

BUT even with great fixtures is it too much to have Arnie in strike, and Balbuena and Diangana on bench as fillers?

Sure many are in the same boat, best option for Mitro replacement please:
    A) Wilson
    B) Murray
    C) Jimanez

2 ft 0.9 itb, current forwards Aguero/Arnie. Currently on Murray but not sure if Brighton score enough

Although Wilson could keep scoring with the way BOU play, you may have missed the boat a little with the consistent kind of scores he's been getting with tougher fixtures coming up.

I would probably go with Jimanez or Murray out of the 3.

I'm leaning towards Murray, just because I don't see Bournemouth getting much vs City or Pool. You would fancy Brighton to have a good chance of scoring in all of their next 5 fixtures.

But saying that, I am still undecided who to bring in for Mitro!

Who to bring in for Mitrovic? Have 4.6m ITB to use and 6.6 sell price for Mitro

    Forster
Alonso / Holebas / Robertson (VC)
    Mane (C) / Hazard / Maddison / Richarlison / Barkley
    Murray / Arnie

    (Patricio / Mitrovic / Doherty / AWB)

    1. Ha.

Need some advice.Really stumped this week. Not sure what moves to make. Do you think Hazard+Mitrovic>Salah + Ings for -4 is worth it. I would captain Salah. Only thing is losing 0.4m on Hazard.
    Team is:

    Ederson (Speroni)
    Mendy VVD Alonso Duffy (Bennett)
    Hazard Barkley Mane Richarlison (Fraser)
    Aguero Arni Mitrovic
    Aguero

I brought in Kenedy this week.
I'm a long suffering NUFC fan...

He wasn't top of my list, but I did Barkley > Kenedy, letting me also do Mitro > Arnie, plus 0.5m for the bank.

Nobody is going to get scores of goals and assists under Rafa at NUFC. That's not a criticsm of the guy, but we play incredibly conservatively due to our massive under-investment. Kenedy is one of our most promising attacking players, he takes some set pieces and I think is the best potential under 5m mid in the game.

He's a confidence player, had a disastrous game against Cardiff earlier in the season... struggled for a few games after that. He was magnificent in our last game, with one tackle that was outrageously good (and he's not even a defensive player). I expect him to do very well next game, and the promising fixtures we have after that.

No guarantees, but I think he's a brilliant 4.9m option.

Food for thought hey....what did you guys learn from this meet the manager ?

I thought it was interesting to see very little attachment towards particular players, as in season keepers etc?? does anyone else find this strange? hes more than willing to swap between the big assets from the teams based on fixtures....am i getting to attached to keeping say a Hazard an aguero or an in form salah regardless of the fixtures??

    any thoughts guys?

Reliance on fixtures, using whole team and advance planning.

I like the idea of swapping big hitters around depending on fixtures. Means losing some profit but I really see the benefit in the flexibility it allows. I've so much profit tied up in Aguero Haz and Salah I can't chop and change easily.

With all due respect, I wouldn't say I learned anything. He's obviously a fantastic FPL manager but I don't think 30 mins is enough time to take a back step and really attempt to explain someone's fundamental approach to the game.

Murray just doesn’t excite me. Wilson plays for a much more attacking team, then you’ve got Jiménez who’s like a million cheaper too.

Know it's early but who are people thinking of captaining in GW13? No plum fixtures for big names imo; crazy to consider Richarlison or Doherty? (Will probably end up going Salah).

I might go rogue that week and hope Richarlison can do the business vs Cardiff.

Only worry would be him coming back late from Brazil duty, if selected.

is Kolasinac an option? is he first choice over Monreal?

A & C. Chelsea's defence stronger than Arsenal's IMO + Jimenez more likely to be on pens.

As a United fan, finally having no City players on my team means I can finally root for a Mou park the bus counter-attack master class.

Bring on that 1-0 win Mou come on you reds!!

Thoughts on this bunch? Im fairly happy with it, save my FT? was contemplating Trippier to VVD or TAA.

      Ederson
      Trippier Alonso Laporte Robbo
      Hazard Mane Fraser
      Wilson Aguero Arnie

      Hammer Richarlson Bennet Kante

People mean that Richarlison will get some points this week. I would not double up the Liverpool defence because the rotation. But you have a good team.

thanks. Its between fraser and rich for the bench. I agree with the rotations but i dont think VVD will be rotated in the league. He's looked really good, esp against Arse

      Foster, Fab
      Doherty, Robbo, Alonso, AWB, Bednarek
      Salah, Maddison, Hazard, Fraser, Gunn
      Aguero, Wilson, Arnie

Doherty at Arsenal and AWB vs. Spurs... wouldn't mind swapping out Bed so I can bench them both, but is that worth the FT? Was thinking I might just roll it for after the break.
