Should FPL managers own Aguero or Sterling?

Raheem Sterling’s 21-point haul against Southampton in Gameweek 11 has caused a disturbance in the Fantasy Premier League force.

There are plenty of managers who are weighing up whether he is a better option than the highly-owned Sergio Aguero. His 7.7% ownership means there is a potential opportunity to get him in now and use him as a powerful differential before the masses cotton on.

So we’ve compared the two individuals over the course of the campaign to find out which one is worth having and how Fantasy managers should handle Sterling’s recent explosion of points.

When David says "the defensive template may be coming to an end", what does this mean?

More nonsense from FFS to be honest. Almost nobody at a similar price has outscored Alonso or Mendy in the last 4 games. Robbo is a bit down on numbers but only because he was rested recently, given Pool fixtures though he's likely to do well in terms of clean sheets let alone attacking returns.

The defensive template ends when there more viable 8-9.5m mids. For now it remains.

Meh! Sure robbo looks like an option for the immediate fixtures (however he may yet be benched for Fulham) and after the next 4/5 games things don't look so pretty for Liverpool defensively speaking.

Xmas is a tough run and rotation still looms

good to have conversation on alternatives. although it made complete sense as each are great options individually the RAM is the only way to go chat early in the season was a bit depressing

Got it, thanks. I am considering breaking up RAM myself, taking out the M to give me Digne Doherty and Balbuena as my other three. Seems like a good time to do it. Then Mendy back in for Robertson when Liverpool's fixtures switch with Citeh's

    Ederson
    Alonso Mendy Robertson
    Salah Hazard(C) Sterling Fraser
    Arnautovic Mitrovic Success

    Button Doherty Hojbjerg Wan-Bissaka

Mitrovic is the one to go but who do I go for?

    A) Ings
    B) Jiminez

If B I may aswell wait until next Gameweek and do

    Fraser + Mitrovic > Richarlison + Jiminez

Mini league lead has been cut due to no Richarlison or Arnie,

This GW im looking at either:

A, Mitro to Arnie (requires hit)

    or

B, Mitro to Wilson no hit

Advice appriciated &can i get away with no Arnie this GW?

Huddlesfield have defended reasonably well at home - for a hit I'm not sure it'll be beneficial.

I took a hit personally - but I did the same the week before for Mendy and that fell flat on it's arse!

I'm sure it'll benefit me long term which is the only reason you should really take a hit imo (some people brought in sterling for hazard and then are thinking of switching back now - sure they hauled but they also lost 50% of the price increase in a season keeper)

Likewise the 1 week punt for Kane was a disaster for all that tried it

want to defend az a bit and others capping salah. sure aguero did what he always could of done, but would it have surprised anyone if salah got 13 points vs what was looking like being a slightly ravaged arsenal defence? would it have surprised anyone if aguero went off on 60mins with the match already won and champions league up next (would have been off with 5 points if so).
but yeah not the worst choice imo, anything ville ronka does can't be sniffed at too much

All about probability and unfortunately not captaining Aguero is a crime when looking at that. I’d understand if they were playing Arsenal at home!

Anyway he’s a good enough player to recover

should specify here i don't think it deserved to be punished by 11 points, even if aguero was the better option

I agree with this, in a similar way that Mitro was not worth 11 fewer points than Arnie. The fact is, Arnie was still a miles better option even if only worth more than a few points before the games happened. Unfortunately that's no reason to not go with the better option, and while I don't think Salah was a bad option in a vacuum, I do think he was considering we had the Kun option. Harsh lessons.

When I saw Bellerin and Kolasinac were back I immediately thought of the Salah captainers. 11 points was a big swing, and its happenned a few times this season in 50/50 calls.

Kane 1 pointer v Cardiff when Hazard got 14 v Southampton springs to mind. Also Aguero's 7 v Fulham at home when Hazard got 20 v Cardiff. You could add Aguero's 20 v hudds when Salah got 9 v Palace in GW2. Large swings for what are in my opinion marginal calls.

But they were playing Arsenal away, not Southampton or Cardiff, two of the worst defences in the league. Captaining Hazard away at Southampton or Cardiff is very different to this decision in my opinion and isn't a marginal call, its an incredibly risky one

agree, arsenal vs pool were generally high scoring fixtures but this is a new manager and they hadn't conceded heavily even against City. Plus they seemed to be showing more grit as the season progressed

last season for example arsenal were full strength at the back and salah still got a goal and assist there. fair enough pool and salah aren't quite as rampant this season but yh just shows it really can go either way

Aguero was never going to blank and Salah has a good chance of blanking. If you’re going to go against such a clear captaincy option expect to be punished by losing big points.

I think it was maybe a case of overthinking things. Aguero, the leader of the poll, against Southampton at home, yet Salah was chosen ahead of him away against Arsenal

Aguero had a goal and assist and was on 3 BP's on 60 minutes. He then assisted Sterling in the 67th minute.

I WC'd GW6 and planned to get Ryan in GW7 (for Henn) but other things cropped up... and I still haven't managed to bring him in thus missing all of his high scores. (20 points worse off by not making that move on my WC even).

ideally don't want to be relying on a keeper who is needing to make 6+ saves every week. will get some sexy double figure scores every now and then as a result but a clean sheet is worth 12 saves. would much rather see ryan getting 6 and 7 pointers, maybe the odd 8 or 9 with 3 saves and bonus

ah of course if you have either you stick. is a luxury transfer. one thing not factored in is ryan is good on pens too, has about a 1 in 3 saving record.
but yeah overall i have my doubts about the brighton defence (i know west ham are hardly man city), even at home. think you kind of need those load of save points and attacking threat with duffy and dunk

I had similar plans - with Rich being the cash cow enabler fall guy.

Sterlings continued performance has swung my head

Now i'm in two minds fit sterling in with 4 big hitters or move for Kane remaining as three (prob still downgrade Salah now instead of Rich for the Kane move)

Whaddya think of Leno as a keeper option? Am WC'ing in 15/16 and the lack of WHU clean sheets is inching me away from Fabs as my go to keeper, and making me sniff around other options.

Yeah - i don't disagree but the calibre of the sides really favours wolves and that would clinch it for me. In fairness most seem to be selling him to either upgrade or downgrade (success . . . for some reason)

Question re. price rise change mechanics

If i buy a player at 9m and he drops to 8.8m while in my team, he then rises back to 9m again while still in my team having never been transferred out - Is my sale price 9m still or is it 8.9m (given we only usually get half of any rise)?

Manchester United have not scored 5+ goals in a Premier League game since Sir Alex Ferguson’s final match in charge.

ozil. if spurs can score 3 vs wolves i hope arsenal can too. here's a stat for you as lacazette is a hot talking point right now. points in last 6 apps: ozil 39, laca 35.
firmino too, bad form, playing deep, but if anyone can resuscitate him it's fulham.

    Ederson
    Alonso, Robertson, Doherty
    Hazard, Salah(c), Schurrle, Hughes
    Ageuro, Arni, Mirovic

    Fabianski , Hojbjerg, WanB, Bennett

    2 FT
Alonso, Shuree, Mitrovic > Rudiger, Richarlison, Murray
    -4

Then next week I might finally go for Salah > Sterling and upgrade Hughes + Doherty with the funds.

    Any thoughts on this appreciated
