Where FPL teams concede the most chances from – Part 1

We are using the latest international break to identify trends in the opening 12 Gameweeks of the 2018/19 season.

This study aims to assess where each FPL team is most susceptible when it comes to conceding goals.

Using data available in the Members Area, we have looked at chances conceded from set pieces, through the middle and down the left or right flank.

With the relevant areas pinpointed for the first 10 teams, this first part then compares these with the upcoming schedule to find out which players stand to benefit.

Across the articles in this series the hope is the build a picture of which FPL assets have the most favourable match-ups with specific team weakness over the next six Gameweeks.

Anyone played the FREE HIT? My TV is 103.5 I know you should build that before using chip, but I've got a red arrow march going over last few weeks. I'm now 10 outta 20 in my ML. So many big hitters away this GW..

Is anyone considering Yerry Mina as an option? Don't see him dropping to the bench now that he's fit. He's a good passer of the ball so likely to be in the BAPS if Everton keep a cleanie. Plus, his goal threat from set-pieces with Cardiff up next who I think have a reputation of being vulnerable from set-pieces.

A good option or a mad punt?

Keane has improved playing next to Zouma. I'd assume both would be first choice barring injury or drop in form. Worth monitoring though

I have been umming and ahing for weeks about replacing Wilson with Arnie ( can't afford both), getting the latter seems to be the acknowledged wisdom on here, but I like Wilson and despite the fixtures stiffening I think Bournemouth can score against anyone and I'm not sure the same can be said of West Ham.

Then last night I had a dream:

We were travelling through sunny LA to 'Wilson's' the hottest new restaurant in town owned by you-know-who. We had trouble parking as the place was packed out and obviously doing very well. The food was great, huge portions.

I have interpreted this to mean that Wilson's ownership is going to surge even more as he is going to rake in the points, big hauls incoming. Forget all your player comparison wotsits and ticker doodahs, they can't beat a bit of dream analysis.

    You heard it here first.

Plot twist: Wilson returns a double digit haul against Arsenal's 'robust' defence.

And Arnie scores a jammy penalty against City.

      Both FTW.

He doesn't have to make sure every shot of his from set pieces hits the target. When it does, it mostly goes in. And he's the most nailed starter in the back 4 so you're pretty much guaranteed 6 points every week.

I'm not planning to buy him but he's a steal at that price IMO.

I am actually considering possibility that if Richarlison or Martial needs to be ditched I might keep Laporte and upgrade WB to Trippier. Finding similar value from midfield (no Fraser for me) even under 6.5 looks difficult for me. So even though it is shouted here that going heavy in the back is not a good move during this time of season, the lack of good midfield options in that price category is more important factor for me.

Totally echo your opinion. Mentioned it in the hot topic, no mid around the 6m mark (other than Richarlison) interests me at the moment. Makes me lean towards Laporte as a set and forget. 🙂

Is 4.4 the max budget. Newcastle might be tightening up at the back a bit and have good short term fixtures. But by Gw19 you will probably want rid again. As a cheap punt between now and then maybe.

It is an option all comes down to on the negative side how much value you lose and what value you could have gained on a replacement

On the plus side if it saves you a transfer and your bench can handle it then maybe.

    1. davies
      • 9 Years

Got him at 6.0 so the first drop will hurt

Currently looking like this after using my FT:

      Patricio
      Alonso Robertson Doherty
      Hazard Mane Richarlison Fraser
      Aguero Lacazette Arnie

      Hamer Hojbjerg AWB Mendy*

... AWB can cover Mendy next week too then get Trippier in, just the drops may sting. Thoughts?

Mendy was about +20 24 hours ago now about -30
That's a 50 point drop in 24 hours. That could be a triple drop by Gw15. Not sure just guessing but are you prepared to lose that much.
I won't lose on first drop but with Laporte probably rising tomorrow I am tempted to move for him.

It depends who you plan to play. I would have Arnie coming in. I don't think Laporte is worth +4 vs Arnie so therefore it makes more sense for me to hold. The o my other consideration is price drop/fall.

I am suprised so many people are looking at replacing Mendy with a premium defender. For those with RAM-Doc-AWB then the obvious player to bring in looks to be Peltier.or perhaps a Bennett etc if you want a playing defender. The 2 of them rotate very well and you can upgrade your midfield.

He isn't. But you tend to get away with your 3rd choice defender being non-playing. And the 0.5m to a playing defender makes a big difference.

I’m looking at Mendy, AWB > Doherty, Digne to give a back 5 of Robbo, Alonso, Doherty, Digne, TAA. Still will have Ederson, Haz, Salah, Kun, Richarlison, Fraser, Wilson, Ings also. Diangana is my dead slot currently.

I think paying the extra 1.0-ish to have better first and second subs than AWB/Peltier/Bennett (e.g. Doherty, Digne, TAA) will pay off from GW13-21 where there are 9x GW’s in 5 weeks.

I can.see the logic of owning 4 of them. I am not certain you need to have all 5. But there is logic. I have Murphy as 1st sub and AWB as 2nd sub so I am quite happy with the cover. I won't be making the move this week as it would cost me -4 and it isn't worth it for 0.1m.

I’m banking on the level of rotation we’ve seen this year increasing again with this schedule coming up. I’m fine with my bench only being 2 deep, but would rather have those 2 be from the pool of (Digne, Doherty, TAA, Fraser, Ings) than the ultra cheap 4.0 defenders & 4.5/5.0 mids... itll be interesting to see how it goes, it’s. A crazy schedule we have coming up.

But we’ve also got 9xFT’s in 5 weeks to help with the unexpected so either way could work

I understand having playable options on the bench. Personally I think Murphy/AWB probably provides that cover but I do appreciate there are times over that period when having a level up again of sub will help.

Upgrading midfield is difficult since many plan to get Trippier in for gw15. Therefore Mendy > Laporte > Trippier is popular plan.

The issue for me with Trippier is the rotation he will face over winter. These moves have some logic but Aurier will get game time in winter. I am not sure it is for me.

Think people are now hooked on premiums.

      Alonso Robertson Doherty Bennett AWB

That's my backline and with the Wolves fixtures now, can definitely recommend it.

That is what I may well end up with I just have to decide if having Bennett as a playing defender is better than Peltier as a 3rd non playing sub.

Never know with rotation later in the season, if you've got guys like Sterling, always better to have the playing one.

(Who I have so feel better about it!)

True. I can replace Martial with a 10m option in 2 weeks time by downgrading Mendy. I would love Sterling but struggling to find the player to downgrade to make it happen. It may be a Spurs mid.

I have the same back 5. Dilemma is whether to play Benet or FAnderson this week

I hadn't considered this option, but getting Peltier as my Mendy replacement would give me exact funds to do Hughes > Martial with my other FT. Would you go for it?

Peltier at just 3.8m is a dream 3rd guy on your bench. He was injured and had a later recovery date but he came back a month earlier. With injuries and rotation he will get a game here and there and a few subs. He won't give you great points (0-2 points most likely) but what do you expect from a 3.8m guy who sits last on your bench? Great enabler!

I might go for Dilva, but a couple of 0-1 away wins might hurt.

Why are people hating on triple City attack? A few more 5+ goal wins and can see it being worth it.

Possibly 10.0 or 10.5 if he keeps his spot.

Remember he was already 9.5 two years ago, and only got cut because Maureen the idiot wouldn’t play him

Already on a -4 this week. Good moves or should have waited later in the week? Sort of regretting it.
    Had 2 FTs,
    Mendy + Lamela + Wilson >>> Laporte + Martial + Jiminez.

What if other players you own break their legs or something?

Think they look good though if unscathed.

    Yedlin > Laporte? Exact funds.

    Fabianski
    Alonso Robbo Doherty
    Salah Hazard Richa Fraser
    Aguero Arnie Jimenez

    Foster | Yedlin Diangana AWB

    1FT, 1.4M ITB

Defo, city defence is highly owned in top 10K, you need to cover all those feckers.

      Tough price range

Stones if you fancy him keeping his place?
      David Luiz?

    Mendy + Ryan --> Doherty + Ederson (-4)

    Or just:

    Mendy --> Laporte

Have Alonso, Robertson, Peltier, AWB in the back.

    And 0 in the bank.

Or do Mendy--> Doherty now and Ryan --> Ederson next GW

Hey DZ. Still computing the following. Your opinions are invaluable...

    Pat (Hamer)
    Mendy Robbo TAA Yedlin AWB
    Salah Hazard Richarlison Fraser Cairney
    Ageruo Arnie King

    2FT

    a) Mendy/King > Alonso/Ings
    b) Mendy/King > Laporte/Jiminez
    c) same as B but with Doherty
    d) Mendy/King > Digne or Jonny/Jiminez, TAA > Alonso the week after

I'd prioritise Alosno and Laporte. Jimenez as a cheap striker. Have him and can't complain about service
