Lacazette misses out as Aubameyang leads the line for Arsenal

The first of two Premier League matches this Sunday kicks off at the Vitality Stadium at 13:30 GMT, with Bournemouth hoping to bounce back from successive 2-1 defeats against an Arsenal side without a win in three top-flight matches – although unbeaten since Gameweek 2.

There should hopefully be goals in this match, with Arsenal having scored at least twice in every one of their Premier League fixtures on the road this season.

Only two sides have recorded fewer clean sheets than the Gunners, meanwhile, with neither of their two shut-outs coming in an away match.

Manchester City and Chelsea are the only two clubs to have registered more big chances than the Cherries in the English top tier this season.

At least three goals have been scored in each of the last four league meetings between these two clubs.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (£10.9m) and Alexandre Lacazette (£9.7m), the visitors’ two most-owned FPL assets, both suffered over 110,000 sales in the run-up to Gameweek 12.

Those who ditched Lacazette looked to have made a shrewd move as the French striker misses out as a precaution with a groin strain.

Aubameyang appears to be leading the line in a front three with Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£6.7m) and Alex Iwobi (£5.5m), as Unai Emery switches to a 3-4-3 for the first time in the league this season. Mesut Ozil (£8.3m) drops to the bench.

Sokratis (£5.1m) comes in at centre-back alongside Shkodran Mustafi (£5.4m) and Rob Holding (£4.4m).

Ryan Fraser (£6.2m), now owned by more than one in four FPL bosses, was bought by almost 115,000 managers over the international break.

The Scotland winger is back on the left flank this afternoon, with David Brooks (£5.1m) dropping back to the right wing after a spell alongside Callum Wilson (£6.8m) up front.

Joshua King (£6.3m) returns from injury to make his first start since Gameweek 9.

Charlie Daniels (£4.2m), meanwhile, gets the nod at left-back in place of the injured Adam Smith (£4.5m).

Bournemouth XI (4-4-2): Begovic, Francis, Cook, Ake, Daniels, Brooks, Gosling, Lerma, Fraser, King, Wilson.

Arsenal XI (3-4-3): Leno, Sokratis, Mustafi, Holding, Kolasinac, Torreira, Xhaka, Bellerin, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Aubameyang.

Surely it is Kane or a big downgrade to a Rondon to fund an extra expensive midfielder.

Balbuena is only really a back up. He has great fixtures. Holding, Vinegre and Drum are also options for that spot.

Tripling up on City attack and getting in Kane as well is a perfect way to use the WC to get a leg up on everyone who doesnt have one. Nicely done.

The question is to who. I think you have to get to the 7m range to find a real option. Siggy is the ideal player for that spot but it involves a big downgrade somewhere else.

When Pep was talking about Sterling yesterday he mentioned the competition from Mahrez pushing Sterling's performances, and vice versa, Sterling form driving Mahrez to play better. Sané wasn't mentioned once in that context, so perhaps he'll be less of a rotation risk while Mendy is out.

I guess it comes down to whether Sterling will start games on the left instead of Sané. He has done so it's definitely an option.

He surely will, all 3 wingers could rotate equally during this period.

            • 14 Years
            5 years, 5 months ago

Sterling plays as a second striker under Pep though, so it's likely to be him plus one of Sané and Mahrez. Sure, he won't play every game, but most of them.

          • 7 Years

If Sterling starts on the left, he cuts inside, so there's no one to provide width on the left in the absence of Mendy. Delph doesn't provide it, which is why Sane provides it. So I don't expect Sterling will start on the left when Mendy isn't fit.

Owning Arnie over the christmas period is going to be worrying, he's injury prone. Anyone have the same concerns?

Will worry about that later. Will be rotation over Christmas anyway. Patience usually pays off with the good players.

rotation most likely between GW19-21. Prior to that there's 5 days rest.

Would be more concerned not having him with the current fixtures.. At least he's not a rotation risk

He has 2 GW's then he's going for Trippier anyway, all being well... unless he can do something more to convince me 🙂

Any chance after Week 16 it becomes time for Kane/Auba double up, or two of Aguero/Kane/Auba?

Aguero was involved in build up yesterday but did not seem like he was target of the final ball in box, this plus possible rotation/60 minute games makes me think I need to start looking at alternatives.

*1st time on site today so apologize if this was already addressed.

There's every chance of it. There's also every chance Kun does well v Bournemouth 7 kicks on from there. Lots of folks are going to get caught chasing points & hokey cokey'ing between Kane/Kun/Auba/sterling/Haz/Sane etc - buy and hold is the safest option

I'm considering a laca and auba double up between GW16-19
