Dugout Discussion

Aguero absent from squad as Man City host Bournemouth

Pep Guardiola has left Sergio Aguero (£11.5m) out of Manchester City’s matchday squad to face Bournemouth entirely.

That is because he has a minor injury that he does not want to risk worsening.

“He has a muscular disturbance. He is not I believe fit. It would be risky (to play him) the doctors and physios tell me. We don’t want to take that risk.” – Pep Guardiola

It is a no-show that will heavily effect the outcome of Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 14 with the Argentinian striker a strong captain candidate.

Gabriel Jesus (£10.1m) starts up front in his place while Raheem Sterling (£11.4m) keeps his place in the starting XI.

David Silva (£8.7m) left on the bench as Fernandinho (£5.4m), Ilkay Gundogan (£5.4m) and Bernardo Silva (£7.5m) all started in midfield, with Leroy Sané (£9.3m) operating on the left.

Meanwhile, John Stones (£5.3m) missed out at the expense of Nicolas Otamendi (£6.1m) again and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£4.8m) started at left-back in place of Fabian Delph (£5.3m).

Opponents Bournemouth dropped a surprise of their own with David Brooks (£5.1m) left on the bench.

Crystal Palace named an unchanged side from the one that drew 0-0 at Manchester United while Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£5.9m) returned to the Burnley line-up and James Tarkowski (£4.7m) is back from injury on the bench.

Huddersfield lined-up in their favoured 3-5-1-1 formation while Brighton have left Glenn Murray (£6.7m) on the bench.

Jamie Vardy (£8.9m) returns to the Leicester City side while James Maddison (£6.8m) keeps his place despite being sent off in Gameweek 13. His one-match suspension was served in the League Cup midweek.

Isaac Success (£4.6m) is back in the Watford line-up with Troy Deeney (£5.9m) going back to the bench. The Nigerian international starts up front with Gerard Deulofeu (£5.4m) again.

“Today we feel Isaac and Gerard in the beginning may be better but we know Troy and Andre will be ready if we need them.” – Javi Gracia

Jose Holebas (£4.7m) also comes back in after missing Gameweek 13 with a calf injury.

Finally, Jamaal Lascelles (£4.7m) is fit enough for a return only to the Newcastle bench, while Javier Manquillo (£4.4m) starts in place of Ciaran Clark (£4.5m), who is also among the substitutes.

Their opponents West Ham line-up with both Marko Arnautovic (£7.1m) and Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez (£6.2m) as well as Andy Carroll (£5.4m) back on the bench.

Robert Snodgrass (£5.3m) makes an immediate return from suspension but Grady Diangana (£4.5m) is not even in the matchday squad.

FPL is quite a game. I am going to watch WHM vs NEW with Arnie, Fanderson, Fab and Kenedy on my team. Would have zero interest if not for FPL

We got in touch with the now famous world number 10, Swede Jonatan Niberius, who spent his bench boost and captained Wan-Bissaka this gameweek.

Did a rival get his log-in credentials, did the pressure get to him or is he a time traveller? Read on to find out!

PS: This interview was conducted before Saturday’s games!

Jonatan, you are doing really well so far. It seems like it is your first season playing. How are you able to beat millions of veterans?

Yes, it’s my first time playing fantasy. I have gotten my captains right, I had Hazard when he scored his hat-trick and triple captained Aguero for his.

How much time do you spend on fantasy?

I use maybe 30 minutes per week to make changes. It’s just a fun thing, but now that I’m competing at the top, I will look to increase my efforts.

Are you playing for yourself or do you have any friends that are into fantasy?

Me and some people I know have a 15 person private league.

And now to what everyone’s wondering, why did you decide to bench boost this gameweek?

Honestly, I didn’t have a firm grasp of the rules. I thought you had one bench boost for the first half of the season and another one for the last 18 gameweeks. So I felt I had to use it.

And why is Wan-Bissaka your captain with Sterling, Sane, Salah and even Alonso in your team?

I’m going with my gut feeling for this one, I hope he can keep a clean sheet and get an assist. It will turn around for Palace now!

This gameweek might still work out wonderfully for you with Aguero not in Manchester City’s squad.

I focus on my own team. But yeah, I can imagine a lot of players have gone for Aguero.

Are you surprised you’re getting attention from the rest of the world?

Haha, after that bench-boost gaffe I can understand it. I stand by my Wan-Bissaka captaincy though!

Haz effective ownership could be close to 100%
    64.7% ownership + 11.5% captains + xxx% of Kun's 50.4% captainers choosing as VC
