Jimenez benched for Wolves’ trip to Newcastle as Neves returns

Newcastle United take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the only Premier League match to be contested on Sunday, with kick-off at St. James’ Park at 16:00 GMT.

After disappointing defeats in Gameweek 15, both clubs bounced back with positive performances and results in midweek: the Magpies gaining a 1-1 draw at Goodison Park and Nuno Espirito Santo’s troops recording their first win in two months with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

Interest from a Fantasy perspective is mostly in Wolves’ assets, with four of their squad boasting an FPL ownership of 10% or higher: Ryan Bennett (£4.2m), Matt Doherty (£5.0m), Ruben Neves (£5.0m) and Raul Jimenez (£6.1m).

The first three of those players take their places in Santo’s starting XI but there is bad news for owners of Jimenez, who – along with Joao Moutinho (£5.3m) and Morgan Gibbs-White (£4.3m) – is only among the substitutes this afternoon.

The Mexican striker was the third-most-bought FPL player of Gameweek 16 following his goal against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Adama Traore (£5.3m), Diogo Jota (£5.9m) and Helder Costa (£4.8m) make up the visitors’ front three on Tyneside.

No FPL defender has registered more shots on target than Doherty this season, but Wolves are without a clean sheet in the league since Gameweek 8.

Rafael Benitez has made three changes to his team, with Ciaran Clark (£4.5m), Matt Ritchie (£5.8m) and Ayoze Perez (£6.1m) replacing Javier Manquillo (£4.3m), Jacob Murphy (£4.8m) and the suspended Fabian Schar (£4.6m).

Kenedy (£4.9m) and Paul Dummett (£4.4m) have recovered from injury but are only among the substitutes.

Salomon Rondon (£5.8m), who has three goals in his last four starts, once again leads the line for the Magpies.

Jamaal Lascelles (£4.7m) is the most-owned Newcastle player in FPL, sitting in 3.2% of squads.

No Premier League club has lost on as many occasions at home (six) as the Magpies in 2018/19.

Newcastle United XI (3-4-3): Dubravka; Lascelles, Fernandez, Clark; Ritchie, Diame, Ki, Yedlin; Atsu, Perez, Rondon.

Wolves XI (3-4-3): Rui Patrício; Bennett, Coady, Boly; Doherty, Neves, Saïss, Vinagre; Hélder Costa, Diogo Jota, Traore.

On an unrelated note, Wolves' record vs. the top sides is amazing - win vs. Chelsea, draws vs. City, United and Arsenal, only loss vs. Tottenham (and even that was close after a great comeback fell just short). Leicester, Watford, Brighton and Huddersfield have managed to beat them, unlike most of the teams competing for the title or CL places.

They struggle with the physicality some of the lower ranked teams add to games. Moutinho and Neves are nice passers, but they lack mobility and get out muscled. I would prefer to see Gibbs-White play instead of Moutinho in those games. He isn't as good on the ball but he has energy.

Maybe the lesser teams are more willing to adjust to combat Wolves formation/playing style? Whereas the big boys just turn up thinking they’ll beat them. Not sure but do remember the Huddersfield game and that seemed to be the case there

If Son plays v Barca he might miss Burnley, Play the LC Qtr final & miss everton game the following weekend

Not sure i'd be losing Sane - he's a flat track bully, not a big game player, so blank at chelsea was not a suprise, and not an indicator that he won't destroy some of the mid table teams they having coming up

As a first time owner of Sané and Sterling I could be happier. Especially since I funded the deal with Salah.

But what can I expect from this duo looking ahead? They’re still very viable FPL assets, yes?

Come on. Stamford Bridge is a tough fixture that won't happen again for the rest of the season
That's the risk with doubling up, and that's why FPL ranks keep changing. Teams have bad days. For example, triple West Ham can go splat against Fulham. It's football. It's why we love the Premier League. Remember when Swansea (was it?) beat gave City a tough game last season?

      Just don't knee-jerk

    A) Anderson + Aubameyang + Camara(perma sub)
    B) Snoddy + Salah + Kamara(perma sub)

Currently got A) but considering shifting to B) over the next 2 weeks. Which option do you prefer?

      A) is Camarasa

I think A is better. I think Salah needs to have that type of performance more regularly to justify the price and the fixtures are still not great for potential hauls.

How about Hazard vs Aubameyang? Just 2 free transfers away from Auba + Camarasa to Hazard + Kamara

Funny you say that. I spent the week wondering if Auba was a better pick than Hazard. I.e. to do the reverse moves. I came to the conclusion that Hazard was the better option. The moves could work but to be honest I wouldn't shift Auba with these upcoming games and Camarasa is a useful 2nd/3rd sub in the winter period.

Cheers both.. Got auba at 10.9 and ideally would like to keep him atleast for the whole of December before considering a switch to Salah. Will delay those moves as long as I can

Exactly. He is still a great pick. An on form Huddersfield was always going to be tough to break down.

    1 FT, 0.3 ITB

    Fabianski
    Robbo, Kola, Doherty
    Sterling, Sane, FAnderson, Rich
    Kane, Auba, Jimenez

    Hamer, Kenedy, AWB, Bennett

Thoughts? Was looking at Bennett to Schindler.

I would and then swap back in 4 games. But it depends how much value you have tied up and how long he is out for.

Why delete? You can still achieve a good OR. You are still in the Top 100k and the season isn't even halfway. Your players are good, but they had an off day. Good players bounce back and most of them will next GW IMO.

Got a hit to get Arnie and Mane out, still have 3 injured player. Well done.

Well back into the top 2k Alonso off the bench, Richarlison to go and should be safe in lms, but really miffed with the weak.

not at all. i'm keeping laca for the next 3 run of games. If he doesn't do anything during them then he's out.

I thought that after coming on last 2 and scoring that he was back in the side for good but then he gets subbed st half time and had him as captain. Always going to be worried about his game time now, he could be back on the bench at the weekend
