FPL Fixtures: Early guide to possible blank and double Gameweek dates

Manchester City’s victory over Liverpool last night marked the end of a hectic festive period in which 40 Premier League matches were contested across 14 days.

FA Cup third round weekend now brings some welcome respite in which to take a cursory look at the weeks and months ahead.

We’re only six Gameweeks away from the first mini-blank of the season, with the final of the EFL Cup set to be contested on the same weekend as Gameweek 27 in the Premier League.

Barring any seismic shocks in the semi-finals of the EFL Cup, Manchester City’s Gameweek 27 match against Everton will be one of the Premier League games to fall victim of that schedule clash.

Burnley v Spurs or Chelsea v Brighton could also be affected, depending on which of the London sides triumphs in their forthcoming semi-final.

Gameweeks 31 and 33 will also very likely be blanks for some top-flight teams, with the FA Cup quarter-finals and semi-finals set to take place on those weekends.

At the moment, the much-anticipated “double Gameweeks” look likely to be in Gameweeks 32 and 35, given that the midweeks following those scheduled Premier League fixtures are the only ones not affected by European club competition or the March international break.

Forward-planning is not just about navigating the blanks and doubles, of course, but factoring in which top-flight sides have a congested fixture schedule around their league games.

Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City are in EFL Cup action twice in January, while those three clubs plus Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal recommence their UEFA Champions League/Europa League campaigns from the middle of February onwards.

We’ve cobbled together a calendar for the remaining Gameweeks of the 2018/19 season, though in some cases (Premier League fixtures from Gameweek 29 onwards, FA Cup from fourth round onwards) the dates are subject to change due to the whims of the relevant television broadcasters.

The FA Cup, Europa League and Champions League finals take place after the Premier League season ends, on Saturday May 19, Wednesday May 29 and Saturday June 1 respectively.

The excellent Ben Crellin is an invaluable resource at this time of year, particularly his “percentages” spreadsheets regarding the chances of all 20 Premier League clubs being without a fixture on a blank Gameweek.

Haz and Rich suck atm. Anderson has scored more than both last 10. Too much in defence. No way to easy get premium forward. CHO is dead money waste

        CHO ?

I think Hazard has just been unlucky not to score, and he's a season keeper.

Richarlison's upcoming games are too good to ignore despite his form

Depends on what happens in the EFL Cup. If Spurs have a BGW in 27 because they win their tie against Chelsea, then arguably Auba is the better one to own as he won't have a blank.

    Salah / Hazard / Richarlison / Pogba / Brooks

Seems a bit early to think about BGWs and DGWs.

I remember a time when Rondon scored a hat-trick. People got him in because he didn't have a BGW and he trolled them before the BGW and in the BGW.

BGWs are overrated unless good teams (e.g. City, Liverpool, Chelsea) have good fixtures in them.

    Best looking move right now?

    A) Hamer > Guaita
    B) Yedlin > TAA
    C) Yedlin > Jonny
    D) Yedlin > Bednarek
    E) Son > KDB/Mane
    F) Son > Eriksen/Alli

    Patrício (Hamer)
    Alonso, Wan-Bissaka, Digne, (Doherty, Yedlin)
Sterling (V), Pogba, Son, Martial, Sané
    Rashford, Aubameyang, (Kamara)

    2FTs. 1.2 ITB

Yedlin dropping in price, so perhaps more sensible to sell him this week unless I'm doing E. I'd like TAA, but he would block E and F, and put a fair wad of cash on my bench each week. Digne could be sold for him in the future. What do you reckon?

    1. HamezMace

      B.
I speak from experience, unfortunately, that getting rid of Yedlin is like taking concaine, on a rollercoster

Lol cheers. Would mean having to bench 2 of Doherty, AWB and Digne every week, which seems a waste of dough, as well as being unable to afford KDB, Mane or Eriksen. Hmmm

      B (just over A).

Yedlin will probably be a good pick in a few GWs when Newcastle's fixtures turn better. But he seems to be the biggest problem.

Bit silly to risk him here 6 nil up isn't it. He must like Kane having regular mins etc.

I reckon it is Kane who asks for minutes. To keep him ticking over. Some players are like that - they feel as if they lose sharpness if they don't play regularly. I always thought Rooney was like that. When he got injured it always took him a while to get back to full speed and he needed to be kept ticking over to maintain his fitness / sharpness.

Auba has what I call 'boom fixtures'. Plays against teams who concede a lot of goals. In his next seven he has:

          • 7 Years

I like Auba ahead of Kane and Man City because Arsenal score goals, he is nailed (because no EFL Cup, no tough European commitments, no tough FA Cup draw) and he is their goalscorer - his goal involvement is high. Plus he has no blank GW in 27 when the EFL Cup final is scheduled.

sounds good, think I'm coming round to that idea about Auba/Kane, Sane/Sterling could be great for the next 3 though - I quite like the idea of Rashford Arnie Wilson/Kamara too. Think it's gonna be Auba or just mid-priced for me...cheers

      Sterling

I have Salah, Kane, Haz - so pretty much agree up until now, thinking Sane/Sterling could be big for the next 3 - great fixtures and only Burton in the cup to worry about rotation-wise

Yep, both could explode too. Hard to get them all. Main thing with Salah, Kane and Haz is they are their main men for their team. Not sure who City’s main man is? Kun? KDB? Silva? Sterling? Sane? Points will probably go around

Doesn't matter. Anderson has more points because he has had a great last 10. So you're comparing him to probably the best mid these 10 games and saying it isn't enough?

But no one's got Snods points last 8. They'd have got him after his first 2 hauls and pretty much got 1 haul in 4/5. Anyway I'm done here. You're silly to discuss with since you use data convenient to your argument. Compare Anderson over 10 games, Snod over 8. Let's compare him up to Fraser over 1 game and Siggy over 2 games while we're at it.

Hey guys. Mind imparting some advice?

    Fabiabski
    Robertson / Digne / Kolasinac
    Hazard / Son / Pogba / Martial
    Kane / Aubameyang / Ings

    Hamer // AWB / Camarasa / Doherty

    Which looks better? 2 FTs.

    A) Kane / Martial >> Rashford / Salah
    B) Aubameyang / Son >> Salah / Rashford

A leaves 0 ITB. B leaves 0.1 ITB, for Kolasinac >> TAA, perhaps. Rashford could also be Arnautovic.

Read the article earlier. Aubameyang has some crazy stats... Tougher fixtures though.

Seven red arrows in a row, really frustrating. Should i use my WC?
    1FT and 3.2 ITB

    Ederson Hamer
    Robbo Trippier TAA Digne Doherty
    Salah Hazard Son Pogba FAnderson
    Jimenez Ings* Kamara

    WC option no.1

    ETHERIDGE Hamer
    Robbo SHAW TAA Digne WAN-B
    Salah Hazard STERLING Pogba RICHARLISON
    Jimenez ARNIE MITRO

If you could only pick one of the following, which would you go with:

    Richardson
    Felipe Anderson
    Sigurdsson
    Bilva
    Other?

    Rest of the midfield is:
    Salah, Hazard, Sterling, Pogba

      No way
      Yes
      Maybe
      Maybe

With rest of midfield I'd get 4.4 and balance elsewhere

seems kinda sideways, but could work - I can't decide who is better out of Arnie/Anderson myself (Arnie was going to be a season keeper for me until he got injured, but Anderson has done well)
