Scoutcast Episode 280 – Humbug

The Scoutcast crew emerge from the congested festive fixtures a little out of sorts as they look ahead to Gameweek 22 and beyond.

Poor captaincy and transfer decisions heralded a dramatic fall in Az and Luke’s overall rank over their torrid Christmas campaign.

David fared better with only a small red arrow over the period but he is not happy with his squad as he prepares for January and February’s matches.

Joe was the only one to see a jump in his overall rank but fears a slump is just around the corner as he approaches the next set of games without a number of well-owned players with strong fixtures.

Among the community issues they tackle is which premium assets and formations will reap the greatest rewards in the coming Gameweeks.

Another topic covered is the potential of the budget enablers to emerge from the January transfer window’s early activity.

Meanwhile, hidden gems from teams with great fixtures over the next two months also come under consideration.

Gameweek 22 is also looked at in detail as the crew reveal their top clean sheet and differential tips as well as their own transfer and captaincy plans.

someone quite eager to get wilson for 6.7 playing for chelsea, eh?

Higuain is much better in many of the aspects Sarri wants but there is an age difference there as well. Have my doubts on both actually, don´t think Higuain will cope with the intensity of PL and i don´t think wilson is suited the way Sarri plays. someone to play in the kovacic/barkley role with much more quality seems the obvious way to go as a gifted playmaker will leave Hazard to just play as false nine and not both false nine and eight.

You might not have X and they do have him and X has a tasty fixture this week where he is expected to haul. He may be in a dead team that has captained him too for the last 10 weeks. If your sole objective is to advance in the cup, you would bring that player in and captain him (for example).

Maybe for Son next gameweek theb splash that cash on someone else. Likely Rash minutes will be managed soon. Got to keep an eye out for that as well. Only Pogba is nailed in the Utd squad long term buddy.

Sure, but nailedness isn't necessarily necessary. Sterling and Sane aren't nailed, and I'm spending a lot more money on them. I will look into Son replacements next week.

I was planning to get KDB this week, but went for TAA instead becauce a City triple up might not be wise with a blank GW probably on its way. Could go straight swap for Alli or downgrade if I need the money for someone else, somewhere else. Cheers Hakim

If Chelsea are serious about keeping the greatest young talent they’ve have in a long time we are going to be treated to the best nailed 4.5 asset since Liverpool sterling in CHO. Have to get rid of one of your big hitters (Sane, Hazard or Kane)

Alonso > Bednarek (or however cheap it needs be), Sane > Salah would be my favoured option.

Thinking of doing Martial (Have Pogba too) to Sane this week and Son to Salah next week.
Would (c) Hazard - he should finally come good, and having Son for his last game sounds nice. Also, probably will keep FAnderson for now.

            Am I right? 😉

Interested in why you think Hazard is more explosive than Aubameyang. Chelsea struggle to score goals compared to Arsenal and are up against a better defence as well.

When Hazard scores it's almost guaranteed 3 bps also extra CS point.

I guess, but the realistic best-case scenario I see for Hazard vs. Newcastle is a goal, CS and max bonus for 11 points, whereas I can easily see Aubameyang put 2 past West Ham. I suppose there's not much in it perhaps, and I'm going Hazard because I literally have no other option!

                  (c) Auba. WHU has conceded 21 shots on target and has conceded the third most big chances (12) over the last four. To make matters worse, the last four opponents WHU have played are not offensively prolific: BHA, BUR, SOU, and WAT.

Willian and Pedro being healthy increases the probability that Hazard drops back in to the false nine position. Both should do well, but I am expecting Auba to perform better then Hazard.

Assuming The World's Greatest Defender™ is out with his hamstring and so won't be in Liverpool's backline this week, I have Gunnarsson and Bednarak to play as Ings is injured. I have already done my transfer for the week. My next two transfer were going to be Lovren - TAA and Ings - Barnes.

Should I take a -4 this week and do one of them rather than play Gunnarsson or Bednarak? If so, which one?

I'd just play one of your benchwarmers tbh. Barnes is more likely to blank than to score in my opinion so it would be a poor use of a hit.

From your bench, Gunnarson vs HUD is your best chance for 2+ points this week. Bednarek since GW 16 is averaging 1.8ppm.

Not considering TAA's attacking threat, LIV has a 50% of a clean sheet according to G-Whiz's article which is second to CHE at 55% this week. There is a good chance you may break even this week between TAA and Gunnarson, but I think TAA will pay dividends down the road.

I think I will play Gunnarson this week unless TAA looks like he will rise/Lovren looks like he will drop as then I will be priced out. My team has 4 big hitters plus Pogba and 2 Liverpool defenders (if Lovren plays, 1 if not). The rest are cheaper players I wouldn't expect to get many points so I will really need those premiums to haul.

He is quite far from rising and I think I should be alright to get him after the deadline to be honest. I will reconsider if Lovren is redflagged and then transfers happen en masse and he looks like he will rise. If he does rise, I will be priced out

What do people make of Arni transfer latest? Apparently 35million offer has been made from Chinese super club with apparently ridiculous wages. Club want him to stay but talkSPORT reckon he may go. Was going to bring him in on wild card but not so sure now? Would you still get or avoid?

I would take the money. He would walk that league too.

Would you bing him in still though? I was all set on Arni and sterling but may have to go Anderson and aguero.

Avoid. Regardless of the deal, his fixtures are lack luster and he is injury prone.

Come on Arnie. Follow the money. Own Anderson and Arnie is ruining him. With Arnie gone and Yarmolenko injured, Anderson will be the main man again.

From next week I plan to play 5 heavy midfielders for a -4 hit, Kane, Richarlison and Anderson -> Eriksen, Sterling and Deeney.

So I have two free transfers now and dont know what I should do

            a. Kiko -> Brednarek only to save some money
            b. new goalkeeper, max price 4.6 million
            c.leave as it is

            Foster
            Robertson, Digne, Doherty
            Pogba, Richarlison, Salah, Hazard, Anderson
            Kane, Jimenez

            Speroni Kamara, Kiko, Peltier

            0.1 million in the bank

What would you do with 2 FT's?

            A) Haz + Ings > Redmond + Aguero
            B) Rudiger + Ings > Bednarek + Rashford
            C) Pogba + Ings > Richarlison + Arnie

              I'm warming towards A or B, but particularly B.

Aguero thrives for home matches. I wouldn't ditch Hazard. Is Rashford's game time at risk with Lukaku? It's unfortunate Ings is injured, it may be worth holding onto him with his fixtures.

What's the rest of your team?
